The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 279 147: Olivia and Her Far-Flung Land

"A round heaven and a square earth?"

"What do you mean?"

Yisha and the others were all stunned.

"I mean it literally," Sean said.

Elvire, who knew more about the "New World," was the first to react. "Are you saying that the world we live in is a board? That we're on one side, and the 'New World' is on the other?"

Sean nodded gravely. "Exactly."

'Although it was just a guess, based on all the clues they had gathered over this period—including the experience of reversed gravity when Olivia herself pushed him off the cliff, and the way the sky in the "New World" was always different from the Real World's... everything pointed to a flat, two-sided world. Sean was 99% sure his judgment was correct.'

'The remaining 0.1% of doubt came from the Fallen Nether Technique itself.'

'Perhaps this was just a challenge that arose during their paired Meditation, that everything was fictitious, created solely to hone their Magic Power. In reality, there was no False Heaven, no Blake City, and no New World.'

'But that possibility...'

'Was too small.'

'So small that Sean was unwilling to dwell on it.'

Elvire, Sopea, and Kate, who had also entered the "New World" with him via the Fallen Nether Technique, might not be able to tell the difference, or rather, they couldn't find concrete evidence of the "New World's" existence. But he could.

Because he could travel to the New World through the statue in the Void Technique Space.

This was also the point that Sean had never been able to figure out before.

The Void Technique Space was a Spiritual Domain, and logging out from a Spiritual Domain should definitely return one to the Real World. This was the main reason Sean believed the Kovri Ruins still existed. Yet, they had never been able to find the Kovri Ruins. It was like a mathematical proof missing a key step; no matter how they tried to deduce it, something was off.

But if the "New World" was real, and was a separate world from the Real World, then everything would make sense.

Robes, the Clan Leader of the Florist Family, knew about the Witch Hunt Operation. This indicated that there must be some connection between the two worlds, and a very close one at that. Otherwise, it would be impossible for someone like Zajik to disappear from the "New World" and coincidentally appear in the Real World.

No one here believed in coincidences.

"But that only proves the 'New World' exists, it doesn't prove our world is a flat board, does it?" Yisha was completely bewildered. Sean was talking in circles—first about the time difference, then the Florist Family. She'd never even heard the name Robes before. He was making her dizzy.

But Sean hadn't mentioned the most crucial part yet.

He walked to the edge of the cliff, gazed into the endless darkness below, and said, "Think carefully. Have we run into anyone from the Witch Hunter Families on our way here?"

"Besides Sabeck."

That Mr. Sea Witch didn't count, because he had come purely for the bounties on their heads, not under anyone's orders.

"I'm talking about the Guards watching the cliff," Sean added.

The darkness of the cliff led to the New World. Theoretically, this place should be heavily guarded to keep outsiders away.

But the fact is, there weren't any.

This meant that World's End wasn't a conventional passage.

'Perhaps even the Grand Mages can't pass through this darkness, which is why it doesn't need to be guarded.'

'Then how did Zajik get through back then?'

The answer was obvious—

Besides this cliff, there was another gate in their world that led to the "New World."

At this point, Sean paused and asked, "Guess what I thought of?"

"The Spring of Enlightenment."

"Have any of you been to the Black Fruit Rainforest in person?"

The women looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. "No."

They didn't need the Spring of Enlightenment, so why would they go there for no reason?

Everyone knew that little forest was a trap. Unless a Wizard wanted to pick a fight with the Witch Hunters, no Wizard would go there.

Lante, however, thought for a moment and said, "I went once before to look for medicinal ingredients. But to avoid attracting the attention of those Witch Hunters, I was in a hurry and didn't notice anything special."

"Did you see the spring water?" Sean asked.

"No." Lante also shook his head.

For the same reason as the girls, he didn't need it. Even a single glance would have been a waste of time.

But Sean said, "If you had taken a closer look, you would have discovered a sun or a moon hidden at the bottom of that spring."

He remembered it very clearly.

If you looked at the spring during the day, you'd see the moon at the bottom.

If you looked at it at night, the bottom would show the sun.

At the time, he hadn't thought much of it, assuming it was just a natural phenomenon similar to a river that spouted water on its own. Now that he thought about it, that wasn't it at all.

Elise: "Don't you dare tell me the spring is the passage."

That would make her and Elvire look very foolish.

They had specifically planted a mole in the Florist Family, yet they'd never received any related intelligence.

"I can't say for sure," Sean said. "It might not be the passage, but there's a high probability that place is connected to the 'New World.'"

Combining this with what Chris had said was why Sean was so certain that this world was a flat board—a round heaven and a square earth.

Yisha rubbed her temples. "Wait, Teacher, don't say any more. Let me process this."

'My head hurts. I feel like my brain is growing.'

Elise and Lante also fell silent.

Koni hadn't said a word from beginning to end. She just felt that she had lived for nearly twenty years, all for nothing. She hadn't even figured out which world she lived in before her 'reconstruction'...

Elise was the same. She had even told Sean before that the reason no traces of the Era of Polymath could be found in this world was because their enemies were deliberately covering them up for some unknown purpose.
