Fear is the best way to sober up.

"H-H-H-How could he possibly be Mr. Blake??"

The shock sobered Elise up instantly. She began to stammer, a far cry from the brave girl who had just dared to defy Her Highness the Saintess.

Without Diana's "permission," Eleanor hadn't been able to see the painting's contents, but she'd gleaned something from her sister's few words.

"Sean is Mr. Blake?"

She wondered if her sister had seen it wrong.

That is, until Diana used her Magic Power to let her take a good look at the painting.

Eleanor: "!!!"

Then her eyes went wide as well.

Catherine was equally incredulous.

'The man who asked for my name in the church was actually Mr. Carl Black??'

"Nothing in this world is impossible." Diana looked down at Elise and asked, "Now, do you still think you can be worthy of him through hard work alone?"

That single sentence silenced all three of them.

'It's over…'

A chill ran through all three women's hearts at the same time.

For Elise and Eleanor, it was because they had developed feelings for a great man they shouldn't have harbored such emotions for.

Catherine, on the other hand, was thinking about how she had rejected Sean at the church, even telling him he wasn't worthy of knowing her name…

Having followed Diana for so many years, Catherine knew Her Highness the Saintess's temperament well. Anything related to the Holy Sanctuary or Carl Black was serious business; Her Highness the Saintess would never joke about Mr. Blake's identity.

In other words, Sean really was Carl Black.

And she… had rejected Mr. Carl Black…

'I'm so dead!'

Thankfully, Diana hadn't noticed her guilty expression. Otherwise, she would have seen at a glance that she and Sean had a "history."

Diana didn't continue to aggressively question Elise. Instead, she told the two sisters to close their eyes.

She was the type to slap you, then give you a sweet.

"You are both Tier Six. Now that you've seen the painting clearly tonight, whether or not you can achieve a Breakthrough to Tier Seven is up to you."

Theoretically, a Wizard who could clearly see this painting would face no bottlenecks for a Breakthrough. It could guide a Wizard to alter their method of Meditation, starting from the most fundamental "conversion rate." As long as one's body could withstand it, advancing from Tier Six to Tier Seven was not an overly difficult task.

Elise and her sister did not disappoint her.

Half an hour later, two extremely wild torrents of Magic Power erupted from the two young women at almost the same time. This was a sign of a recent Breakthrough—they had yet to adapt to their new Tier and were unable to control their Magic Power.

Many people think becoming a Grand Mage is difficult, yet they had done it in just half an hour.

At a ball, no less. All they did was close their eyes and reach enlightenment…

If word of this got out, countless Wizards stuck at Tier Six would beat their chests, stamp their feet, and roar, "God is a girl."

The heavens are unfair!

But at that moment, the eyes of Elise and Eleanor held only confusion.

They stared blankly down at their own hands.

"We've already had a Breakthrough…?"

"So we're… Grand Mages now?"

The unprecedented fullness of Magic Power in their bodies told them—yes, you are now Grand Mages.

But their minds hadn't yet caught up. They thought numbly, 'So breaking through Tier Six… is this simple?'

It all felt like a dream.

Diana's cold voice shattered their "dream."

"Enough."

"Now that you've successfully achieved your Breakthrough, it's time to talk about your earlier disrespect toward me."

Elise: "!"

Only then did she remember just how audacious she had been.

Elise had only been drunk, not black-out drunk. As she recalled what had happened, her heart immediately started to pound.

'Oh my god, I actually tried to steal a man from the Saintess…'

'When did I get so bold? How did I never know?'

'That cheap booze is the real enemy! WAAAH!'

Catherine tried to speak up for Elise, whispering, "Her Highness the Saintess, you just said it was fine…"

But before she could finish, Diana cut her off with a cold glare. "That was then, and this is now. Do I need you to teach me what to do?"

"I wouldn't dare." Catherine quickly lowered her head, not daring to say another word. She could only pray in her heart that Elise would be able to fend for herself.

'Don't be fooled by how close I seem to Her Highness the Saintess. The rumors might say she treats me like a sister, but in reality, everything depends on her mood. And no one can ever figure out her mood. Take now, for instance—one moment, Diana was helping Elise and her sister become Grand Mages, and the next, she's ready to punish them. She's more capricious than the most two-faced Demon in scripture.'

'Of course, I only dare to think such things. Saying them out loud would probably cost me my head.'

Seeing Diana's fury, Elise scrambled to apologize, bowing so low her head nearly touched the ground. "I'm sorry, Her Highness the Saintess! I-I just had too much to drink, I didn't mean to defy you… Please forgive me, Your Highness!"

"Forgive you?"

Diana shot the girl a sideways glance. "That's easy for you to say. If an apology was all it took, what would be the point of punishments?"

Eleanor knew at once that this was serious. She hastily pleaded for her sister, "Her Highness the Saintess, seeing as this is my sister's first offense, please spare her this once. I guarantee she will never do it again."

"And what will you guarantee it with?" Diana asked. "Your head?"

Eleanor glanced at her sister, who didn't even dare to breathe. She gritted her teeth and nodded. "Yes. I will stake my head on it."

"Good," Diana replied. "Then I'll just punish you along with her."

Eleanor: "???"

"From now on, you are no longer members of False Heaven."

"Catherine," Diana called.
