Elise thought Sean was truly angry—she was even prepared to bend over for a spanking—but as it turned out, he just wanted her and Eleanor to draw him a bath...
Her mood, which had been a rollercoaster all evening, brightened instantly. She replied cheerfully, "I'll go right now, Master. Please wait a moment."
"Sis, keep Master company for a bit."
And with that, she dashed into the bathroom.
Eleanor: "..."
'Keep him company... Easier said than done. But what am I supposed to talk about?'
Sean didn't look very old. When they first met, Eleanor had guessed he was only about twenty-five or twenty-six, not much older than her. She had considered him practically a peer. Her Tier was higher than Sean's, and the gap in their Magic Power further bridged the age difference. Treating him as a friend and an equal had been perfectly fine, and that was exactly how Eleanor had always acted.
Ordinarily, she and Sean should have had plenty to talk about.
But ever since she'd learned that Sean was Mr. Blake, Eleanor could no longer see him as a friend. It would be far too presumptuous. More importantly, the whole thing felt surreal. The newbie teammate who used to get bullied by Tony and needed her to back him up had suddenly turned into the most powerful legendary figure imaginable. It was like something out of a dream...
Eleanor figured she needed some time to adapt.
Now, in her eyes, it was as if Sean had the title of "Great Man" hovering over his head. This historical lens made her afraid to even get too close, let alone chat with him like a friend.
So even though Sean still had the same face she found so attractive, and his tone of voice was still familiar—this Sean seemed no different than the one she knew before—the thought of his true identity made Eleanor unconsciously tense and reserved. Her hands, with nowhere else to go, fiddled with the hem of her skirt. With her head bowed slightly, she hardly dared to meet Sean's eyes.
Seeing the girl's slight unease, Sean found it rather amusing. "It's not that serious, is it?"
"Am I just flattering myself? I don't think I put on any airs, do I?"
Eleanor: "..."
'He really didn't put on any airs.'
'But that was precisely why it felt so unreal.'
In Eleanor's mind, great men were supposed to be proud and aloof, exuding an aura that kept others at a distance. Yet Sean was exceptionally "approachable." Honestly, if Her Highness the Saintess hadn't been the one to tell them that Sean was Mr. Blake, not even Elise would have believed it.
"Alright, alright, don't overthink it so much."
Sean reassured her, "I'm actually pretty easy to take care of."
His past self might have been "eccentric," with his mind completely absorbed in Mysticism. He used to ignore everyone, and even Olivia and Daeli would barely see him a few times a month. In his memories, he never had maids before. Perhaps he was too demanding, and no Maid could ever meet his standards. But things were different now—now, he thought having two pretty maids was actually quite nice.
He'd already had a good impression of the Eleanor Sisters to begin with. Now that they were his own people, he felt at ease having them serve him.
"Oh, right. I remember I still owe you an Invisibility Cloak," Sean said, a little regretfully. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to bring it with me."
He had always kept that cloak on him, along with other small items like his phone. But after Olivia pushed him off the cliff, everything was gone. He had only managed to bring back his soul.
Although he had expected it, Sean still felt it was a shame.
"Magic Cloaks aren't easy to come by here, so I can only pay you back," he said with a smile.
Eleanor quickly replied, "No, no, there's no need. It wasn't that much."
'From the very beginning, she never intended for Sean to pay her back. She had offered the help willingly, seeing that he was a good-looking newbie. Now that their positions were reversed, there was even less reason for him to repay her.'
'In this era, a Maid was classified as "personal property."'
'To put it embarrassingly, her very person already belonged to Sean. Why would he need to pay her back money...?'
"That won't do. Business is business," Sean insisted. "Now that you've accepted me as your Master, I have even less reason to take advantage of you. If word of this got out, people would think I was bullying you."
"Do you have a bank card in this world?"
"Yes."
Eleanor said, "Her Highness the Saintess gave Elise and me a large sum of money. It's more than enough for us."
The implication was that he really didn't need to pay her back.
But Sean pretended not to catch her meaning and commanded, "Give me the account number. I'll transfer the money when I have a moment."
Eleanor hesitated for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright. Thank you, Master."
Sean joked, "No, I should be the one thanking you and Elise."
"Aside from tonight, I'll probably have other things I need your help with in the future. Don't think of it as a hassle when the time comes."
"We won't, we won't," Eleanor said quickly. "It's our duty to help our Master."
'She's calling me "Master" so naturally. She's really getting into her role quickly.'
Sean chuckled and didn't dwell on the issue. He could tell Eleanor was still a bit nervous; the older sister was much more reserved than the younger one. Since words of comfort alone weren't working, Sean reached out and patted her on the shoulder like a buddy, saying, "Have it your way."
He meant for the gesture to show Eleanor that he was genuinely easygoing and to get her to relax a little. To his surprise, however, the pat only made her more tense.
Her body trembled.
Sean: "?"
"Why are you shaking?"
He looked at his right hand, confused. "Did I pat you that hard?"
"N-no." Eleanor lowered her head in embarrassment, her face as red as an apple. In a voice barely above a whisper, she said, "It's just... my shoulders are very sensitive..."
Sean: "..."
Soon, Elise's voice came from the bathroom.
"Master, the water is ready!"
