The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 331 - 161: "I’m coming in~

"I will forever be Your most faithful believer."

"Please, believe in me, and believe in Your people. I swear on my life that I will not betray Your trust. We will devote our entire lives, our every effort, to turning what others see as a mere slogan into reality!"

"Under Your divine protection, our Siracle State will be great again!"

Sean and Elvire, watching the TV: "..."

’So this guy didn’t get enough out of his speech, and now he’s using the interview to go for another round?’

’Does this count as going over his speech time? Is he breaking campaign rules?’

But snark aside, the two had to admit that the governor’s speech was indeed impressive.

Just from watching that short interview clip, Sean and Elvire’s heads were already buzzing, filled with the single word "great."

After a few seconds, Sean broke the silence with a soft sigh. "He’s a talented one."

’To think he actually managed to connect this to the ’Master.’’

’Who could possibly compete with him now?’

It was predictable that Pulente’s political enemies would now try everything to expose his lies. But Sean wasn’t optimistic about their chances. The situation was set in stone. The bullet had grazed past Pulente’s ear—everyone had seen it with their own eyes. Whether they claimed it was self-staged or a conspiracy theory, none of those arguments would hold any water in the face of a "miracle."

The Empire was a place of faith.

People believed in the "Master" more than they believed in their own logic.

Pulente’s move had essentially sealed the deal on this election, locking in his re-election ahead of time.

As long as he didn’t die, the next governor couldn’t be anyone else.

"What do we do now?" This time it was Elvire’s turn to ask Sean. "This guy is no pushover."

It was Sean’s plan, and he hadn’t told her what to do if Pulente didn’t die.

Sean, however, asked back quizzically, "Do you even have to ask?"

"Of course, we’re going to pay him a visit in person."

Pulente’s "Master from a bullet" trick was indeed brilliant, but it had nothing to do with them.

It was a headache for Pulente’s political rivals, not for them. They would proceed as planned.

Especially since this guy also knew the Truth Technique...

That was all the more reason to go have a nice little chat with him.

As the founder of the Truth Technique, Sean would not allow his own creation to be secretly learned by an enemy and then used against them.

Sean called Elise and asked, "Where’s Pulente now?"

"Still at the hospital," Elise replied.

She and Eleanor had been following the governor the whole time.

Sean: "Which room?"

Elise: "996."

’That room number is pretty auspicious.’

’Well then, Mr. Governor, your real blessing is about to arrive.’

"Let’s go."

Sean hung up the phone. He and Elvire left the apartment, went downstairs, and exited Biggs Apartments.

Before getting into the elevator, Elvire glanced at the door to Sean’s neighbor’s apartment and said pointedly, "It’s rare for you to be back. Not going to see your beautiful neighbor? Who knows when you’ll be here again."

Sean sniffed the air. "Where’s that sour smell coming from? Do you smell it?"

Elvire, pretending not to understand the meaning behind his words, said nonchalantly, "Is there? I don’t think so."

Unexpectedly, Sean copied her and huffed loudly. "Good. There shouldn’t be."

"Who are you to me? What right do you have to be jealous?"

"Hmph!"

Elvire: "?"

’I’m gonna kill you!’

’Stupid Sean!’

But in reality, right after they got home, while Elvire was in the bathroom, Sean had already snuck over to his neighbor’s apartment to take a look. He had been truly stealthy about it.

He just wanted to see Konina but didn’t want her to see him.

Although they were friends, they ultimately didn’t belong to the same world. So, it was better to just look from a distance and avoid any unnecessary contact.

But Sean hadn’t seen anyone.

Not only was there no one there, but even the furniture and everything else was gone.

Compared to his own place, it was Konina’s apartment that looked like it had been ransacked by the Florist Family.

’She probably moved because of the whole Spring of Enlightenment affair, right?’

’That’s for the best.’

Sean didn’t ask the other neighbors where Konina had moved.

Anywhere outside of Siracle State would be a safe place.

...

「Half an hour later.」

Wearing face masks, Sean and Elvire arrived at the hospital entrance and met up with Elise and her sister.

Eleanor looked up at a room with a tightly shut window and drawn curtains, saying, "He’s up there, Master."

Sean nodded. "Alright, take us to him."

"Yes."

The four of them tacitly cast an Invisibility Spell to conceal themselves.

The hospital was currently packed with people.

Besides patients, there were even more reporters, police officers, and Pulente’s bodyguards.

The Invisibility Spell only concealed their appearance, not their physical volume, so the four of them opted for the stairs instead of the elevator.

The first eight floors went smoothly.

No one noticed them.

But the moment she stepped onto the ninth floor, Elise immediately sensed something was wrong.

She looked up at the window in the hallway.

Outside the window, a Smell Crow was perched on a tree branch. Its feathers had turned colorful, and it was staring at them with its small, black eyes.

At the same time, a loud shout suddenly came from up ahead.

"All units, on alert! Watch out for an enemy attack!"

The four of them: "..."

’Can’t deny it, the governor is pretty damn vigilant.’

Eleanor whispered, "He probably figured out we’re Wizards because we blocked that bomb for him."

"You didn’t expose your Tier, did you?" Sean asked.

Elise: "No, I only used a tiny bit of Magic Power, nothing exceeding Tier Five."

Sean nodded. "Then it’s fine."

As for being spotted by the Smell Crow...

’So what if it spotted us?’

’As if knowing we were coming would be enough to stop us. How amusing.’

Rounding the corner into the hallway where Pulente’s room was located, they were met with the sight of a group of bodyguards in suits, all holding pistols.
