At a rough count, there were fifty or sixty of them.
Seeing them glaring menacingly and looking all around, Sean decided to stop hiding. He dropped his Invisibility and appeared boldly before them.
The bodyguards were terrified when a person suddenly materialized around the corner as if he were a ghost.
The head bodyguard roared, "Stay where you are!"
"You shouldn’t be here. Go back!"
"Otherwise, don’t blame us for getting rough!"
Sean tilted his head. "With those guns in your hands?"
"Don’t you already know I’m a Wizard?"
"But you don’t know our guns are specially made!"
The bodyguard shouted harshly, "Take one more step, and you die!"
Sean shook his head in amusement. "It seems you don’t understand at all."
The reason guns were useless against Tier Three Wizards and above wasn’t because they could just tank the bullets.
Of course not.
Aside from the brawlers who specialized in physical enhancement, most Wizards didn’t have physiques much stronger than a normal person’s. They would be injured or even killed if they were shot. It was just that Wizards could dodge or use Magic Power to block the bullets—that was the real reason firearms were useless.
So, it didn’t matter at all whether the bullets were specially made.
If you can’t even land a hit, what good would special bullets do?
"Let’s see just how rough you’re planning to get."
Sean snapped his fingers. "Elise, some music."
Elise: "Got it!"
’What music?’
’Why, the exclusive BGM of a certain Mr. Governor, of course!’
’Master wants to defeat the enemy to the sound of their own theme music!’
Elise instantly got the hint, pulling out her phone and playing a song.
A familiar melody instantly filled the entire hallway.
The bodyguards were utterly dumbfounded by this move.
They watched as Sean began to walk toward them, stepping in time with the beat.
At first, they thought Sean was alone, as only he had dropped his Invisibility. But as he walked, the bodyguards realized more people were appearing behind him. One, two, three...
’They’re all gorgeous women... Bah!’
’Gorgeous women my ass!’
’This is no time to be thinking about that.’
"Fire!" the lead bodyguard ordered decisively.
BANG!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Bullets erupted from the gun barrels in quick succession, leaving trails of blue light.
Judging by the color, they were indeed special bullets.
The lead bodyguard hadn’t lied to Sean.
But Sean hadn’t lied to him, either.
’When he said they couldn’t hit him, he meant they couldn’t hit him. Not in a million years.’
Sean led the three women forward. He was at the very front, striding with his head held high as if he were on a red carpet.
He didn’t make a single extraneous move. The bodyguards didn’t even hear a Spell—their ears were filled with the rhythmic rock music exclusive to Pulente. Yet, they saw a massive golden ring materialize from thin air in front of Sean.
The bullets struck the ring and, in a manner that defied Science, came to a dead stop before being reflected right back.
The bodyguards: "!!!"
"Get down!"
They were all professionally trained and hit the floor in an instant.
The hallway was too narrow; there was no other way to dodge the bullets.
In truth, Sean just couldn’t be bothered with them. Otherwise, the bullets wouldn’t have just returned along their original path—they could have been made to track them, rendering any position useless.
’Well, since they’re already down, they might as well stay down.’
"Eleanor, put some pressure on them."
"Yes, Master."
A faint glimmer appeared in Eleanor’s eyes.
The bodyguards suddenly felt the sky collapse. It was as if a five-hundred-pound man was sitting on them, crushing them to the point of suffocation. They couldn’t even hold their guns steady, which Sean kicked into a nearby trash can as he walked past.
Sean walked right up to the door of room 996 and knocked politely.
"Mr. Pulente, I’m coming in."
