The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 343 - 166: Don’t Cause Trouble, Don’t Fear Trouble

Pulente: "Huh?"

"You think he wouldn’t know just because I don’t tell him?" Diana said.

From what she knew of Sean, he would never make the mistake of letting an enemy go free, only to have them return with reinforcements.

If he did let him go, it meant he was after more than just the "tiger."

"You’re thinking about how to get a Grand Mage to deal with him, while he’s thinking about how to deal with the Grand Mage behind you."

No sooner had Diana finished speaking than a Divine Servant came to make an announcement.

"Her Highness the Saintess, two young ladies claiming to be from the Florist Family are requesting an audience."

Diana set down her teacup. "Let them in."

"Yes."

And so, the three people who had only just met in the Farm World yesterday were meeting again today in the New World.

Pulente’s eyes widened as he watched the Eleanor Sisters walk into the guest hall.

At that moment, even a man as slow as him should have put the pieces together.

’These twin girls aren’t from the Florist Family at all! They only borrowed the name so they could travel between worlds. Their real purpose is to be messengers for Her Highness the Saintess and Sean!’

’It’s over... I’m really done for this time.’

Pulente’s heart turned to ash.

’Trying to get the "enemy’s" wife to deal with the "enemy" was bad enough, but to be caught red-handed...’

SWISH!

Pulente immediately whipped his head away, praying the Eleanor Sisters hadn’t seen him.

But it was too late.

"Governor??"

Elise stammered in astonishment, "You... Why are you here?"

’And he’s kneeling in front of Her Highness the Saintess?’

’What is going on?’

Elise’s mind was buzzing; she couldn’t process it for a moment.

’Could it be that Her Highness the Saintess already knew Pulente wanted to go after Sean, so she captured him first?’

’But wasn’t that a little too fast?’

’It’s only been a day.’

Diana, as if reading the girl’s mind, sighed inwardly.

’This girl isn’t very bright.’

Seeing Pulente there, Eleanor was also taken aback for a moment. But she quickly guessed the truth and asked tentatively, "Her Highness the Saintess, the Governor... is he... one of your people?"

Diana gave a slight nod. "He is."

The expressions on the Eleanor Sisters’ faces were priceless upon hearing her confirm it.

’So after all that, this old geezer is actually on our side?’

’He came to see Her Highness the Saintess too, which means she’s the "leader" he mentioned?’

’No wonder he was promoted so quickly, going from a merchant all the way to Governor. His backing is certainly powerful!’

’But...’

’...it seems like he has no idea just how close Sean and Her Highness the Saintess are, does he?’

"Pfft!" Elise couldn’t hold back a laugh. "I never would have thought, Governor. Turns out we’re on the same team."

At that moment, Pulente truly wished the ground would open up and swallow him.

"Get up," Diana said.

"Given your age, you don’t need to kneel to me in the future."

She wasn’t in the habit of making her subordinates kneel anyway.

But Pulente didn’t move an inch.

"What?" Diana frowned. "Do you need a written invitation?"

"I wouldn’t dare."

"It is this subordinate who is too ashamed to rise."

Diana: "..."

’Then you can just keep kneeling.’

She couldn’t be bothered with Pulente any longer and turned her attention to the Eleanor Sisters.

The two sisters, only now remembering they had forgotten to bow, quickly did so. "Her Highness the Saintess."

Diana nodded. "Sit."

She picked up the teapot and personally poured two cups of tea for the Eleanor Sisters.

The Eleanor Sisters were overwhelmed by the favor, wondering why she was being so gentle today. "Thank you, Her Highness the Saintess," they said hurriedly.

Diana glanced at Pulente and asked, "Did you come this time because of him?"

"Yes," Elise said, stifling a laugh. "Master told us to come find you. He said someone wants to kill him."

Pulente: "..."

’I’ve been framed!’

’It’s a misunderstanding!’

’I really didn’t know the Saintess was the one who forced herself on Mr. Blake!’

Diana decided there was no need to discuss this further. "When you return, just tell him what you saw," she said.

Eleanor obediently replied, "Yes, Her Highness the Saintess."

Diana then said, "Tell me how things have been for you two lately."

She was less concerned with talk of "calling for backup" and "assassinations" and more with Sean himself.

"Well, that’s a long story," Elise said. "But Your Highness’s foresight is truly divine. When we found Master, the Florist Family was just about to make a move on him."

Although Diana had never told them Sean was in danger, it was obvious in hindsight. For them to arrive just as the Florist Family was about to kill Sean—it couldn’t be a coincidence. Her Highness the Saintess must have known about the Florist Family’s plans beforehand and "punished" them by sending them to the Farm World for that very reason.

Diana neither admitted nor denied it. After listening quietly to Elise for a while, she changed the subject.

"Besides you two, who else is by his side?"

"Quite a few," Elise answered.

Diana’s grip on her cup tightened, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Quite a few?"

Sensing a sudden, cold killing intent fill the air, Eleanor immediately realized Her Highness the Saintess had misunderstood and quickly added, "Most of them are men."

Diana: "And the few who aren’t?"

Eleanor answered cautiously, "One is Master’s student, another is the student of Master’s friend, one is a neighbor, and then there’s... the young lady from the Blazing Angel Family..."

"Elvire?"

Diana sneered.

’So he really did get involved with Daeli’s little sister.’

Elise, not noticing the change in Diana’s expression, continued where her sister left off. "We didn’t know who she was at first and argued with her a little. Thankfully, Master warned us just in time, otherwise we would’ve been in big trouble..."

"You’re that afraid of her?" Diana asked.

Elise: "How could I not be..."

She was the young lady of the Blazing Angel Family, after all—Daeli’s very own sister.

’It’s true that in this life, Elvire hasn’t recovered her strength and is still weaker than a Grand Mage. But who knows if she has some family Secret Technique that would let her hold her own against a Grand Mage for a few moves. But that’s not even the main point. The truly terrifying part is that if we really ticked her off, she might go and tell her sister.’

’If even Pulente can call for backup, of course Elvire can too.’

’And if Lady Daeli from the Blazing Angel Family shows up in person, anyone who bullied her little sister would be completely done for.’

In truth, Elise was saying this more to herself.

It was a warning to herself: it was fine to be a little mischievous normally, but she absolutely had to know where the line was. Otherwise, even Master might not be able to protect them. After all, Master was still in his "growth phase"...

Meanwhile, Pulente, who had been listening from the side, felt the last of his hope die.

’So not only did I offend Mr. Blake, but I’ve also offended the Blazing Angel Family??’

Pulente: "..."

’Somebody save me!’

Actually, there was no need to call for help.

Diana had already begun to speak. "Don’t you forget who you belong to."

"Master’s!" Elise chirped.

Diana: "?"

Eleanor quickly corrected her. "No, we belong to Your Highness."

She shot her sister a glare. ’If you don’t know what to say, then shut your mouth!’

Elise flinched and gave Diana a pitiful look that said, "I know I was wrong."

Diana didn’t hold it against her.

’After all, I already gave them to Sean, so it’s not wrong to say they belong to him.’

’But whether they belong to Sean or to me, they belong to *us*. They have nothing to do with the Blazing Angel Family, and even less to do with Daeli. So even if they did do something wrong, it wouldn’t be Daeli’s place to punish them.’

"Lilith should have already taught you how to be proper Maids," Diana said. "No matter who you are speaking with, you must be polite. You represent not just yourselves, but your Master as well."

"Not causing trouble or bringing problems to your Master is the most basic rule."

"Mhm, mhm!" Elise said. "We remember all of that."

"But I want to make one thing clear," Diana said. "Not starting trouble doesn’t mean you should be afraid of it."

"Serve your Master exactly as you are meant to."

"Follow the rules in the manual."

She said, her tone full of meaning, "If someone bullies you, you bully them right back."

"And if someone wants to run crying to their big sister, let them."

’I’d quite like to see if Daeli’s strength has improved at all after so many years.’
