"Riki, Angeline wants to come see you."

Riki looked up from his pile of work and gazed at Anton, who had just walked in.

"Angeline?"

Anton nodded. "Yeah, I asked her to wait on the terrace so she’d feel more relaxed, and I’ve also given her a drink and some snacks."

Riki smiled, then quickly wrapped up his work for a moment before standing up.

"All right, I’ll go see her."

Anton remained silent, smiling slightly as he watched Riki’s back recede as he went to meet Angeline.

It was about a week after the terrible incident that had befallen Angeline and Liz.

Unfortunately, Liz passed away exactly two days after being admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile, Angeline had regained consciousness after spending one day in the hospital.

From Angeline’s account, it was clear that Liz was at fault, but Angeline asked that the truth of what had happened not be revealed to the public. When Liz died, everyone was deeply grieved.

No statement was ever made regarding the actual cause of Liz and Angeline’s injuries, so almost everyone assumed they’d been hurt because of Hansen—the owner of Papillon Inc., who’d just been arrested.

Riki himself was, of course, deeply shaken by the incident. He felt guilty for not giving Liz the healing potion, but on the other hand, he didn’t want Liz to wake up and have her sent to prison for the attempted murder of Angeline.

Riki was in a complete state of turmoil, but he tried to calm himself by immersing himself in his work.

"Angeline..." Riki called out, after reaching the balcony where Angeline was sitting, enjoying the morning air and a drink brought to her by Anton.

When the girl turned her head, Riki could see that Angeline’s face still clearly showed her grief.

"Sit down, Riki..." Angeline said.

Riki sat down next to Angeline, joining her in enjoying the morning air.

"You’re already working this early in the morning, Riki?" Angeline asked.

Riki chuckled, then nodded. "Yep, I started working right after breakfast and a quick workout—I woke up around five in the morning."

Angeline laughed softly upon hearing this, finding it both funny and pitiful—this young man she still cared deeply for.

"Are you trying hard not to grieve over Lizzy’s death?"

Riki smiled bitterly, then looked up at the blue sky, which looked bright this morning.

The beautiful weather stood in stark contrast to Riki’s gloomy mood.

"I’ve been trying to immerse myself in my piling work—it’s helped me forget the bitter memories and accept all of this. I loved Liz so much, but she suddenly rejected me, and I wasn’t perceptive enough to see that she was broken and in turmoil at the time. But I also couldn’t let you die in the bathroom, Angeline. Because if I’d been even a little late, you wouldn’t be here now... but Liz tried to kill you. I don’t know how to act right now, but one thing’s for sure: I’m grateful I was able to save you."

Angeline closed her eyes, trying to push aside her sadness at that moment.

There was no denying that Angeline was furious with Liz for trying to kill her. But, on the other hand, Angeline still cared deeply for Liz as her best friend. Whether Liz considered Angeline a friend or not, one thing was certain: Angeline had made many sacrifices for Lizzy, whom she loved. And Angeline never regretted making those sacrifices for that girl—even though Lizzy ultimately betrayed her by trying to kill her.

"Angel..." Riki called out.

Angeline turned to Riki, trying to force a smile. "Yes?"

"You should get plenty of rest, okay? I know you’re more devastated by Liz’s death than I am. Besides, now we can finally take a break since you’ve been working nonstop these past few days, right? And do you still want to pursue this dream of yours?"

Angeline nodded firmly in response to Riki’s question.

"No matter what happens, I’ll keep working to make my dream come true. I am pretty ambitious, and I don’t want to let anything shake my resolve. That said, you’re right—I really need to take a complete break. Maybe for a month or two, I’ll go on vacation. Actually, the agency has already given me the option to take up to a year off, since this incident was so significant. But I’m not sure I can take a hiatus that long."

"Let me pay for your vacation, Angeline... just think of it as a gift from me."

Angeline chuckled softly, then nodded. "Thank you, Riki. I’ll start planning my vacation schedule. I’ll call you again later, okay?"

Riki nodded, "All right, take care, Angeline."

***

Riki placed a bouquet of white peonies on Liz’s grave.

It had been about a month since Liz’s death, and Riki had come to terms with the fact that his girlfriend was gone.

All the beautiful memories he shared with Liz were still vividly etched in his mind. And now it was Riki’s turn to move on with his life.

That sense of guilt still lingered in Riki’s mind, causing him both regret and trauma. However, that incident also served as motivation for Riki to move forward and try to become an even better person.

After spending quite some time there, Riki finally left.

Starting that day, Riki was finally able to take a vacation too.

He chose to travel out of town, to beautiful places, and to try new things.

Everyone encouraged him to travel alone, so that Riki wouldn’t always be bogged down by his piling work or his sadness.

Riki truly went alone that time, driving a mini van that didn’t look luxurious at all.

He also deliberately dressed simply, just like any ordinary young man.

It took almost a full day to reach Riki’s destination.

He didn’t arrive at the hotel where he was staying until nine at night. So, he quickly freshened up, took a moment to soak in the bathtub to relax, and then slept soundly.

When he woke up at four in the morning the next day, Riki felt completely relaxed.

He got out of bed and washed his face. Only then did he leave the hotel to take a walk around the area.

He was wearing nothing but a plain white T-shirt and a pair of plain black pants. It was truly very simple. He even carried only a few bills and his cell phone.

Riki strolled around the small town where he was vacationing. In that small town, there were many places Riki could visit just by walking, and the town was indeed famous as a tourist destination.

There were mountains, a lake, fruit and flower gardens, a clear river, a forest, and a beach.

From the hotel where Riki was staying, he was closer to the forest and the river, so he decided to go there first.

Riki had only walked about a hundred meters from the hotel when his smartphone rang. He answered the call without looking to see who was calling.

"Hello?"

"Oh, Riki!"

Riki immediately hung up and furrowed his brow as he saw his two friends waving excitedly at him.

Zeno and Kaivan.

"What are you guys doing here?" Riki asked in surprise.

"We forced Anton to tell us where you were going, so now we’re here to keep you company, buddy!" Kaivan replied, already wrapping his strong arm around Riki.

"We won’t let you be sad and alone, so we came to bring back your cheer," added Zeno.

Riki smiled broadly; he knew he still had friends who cared deeply for him. Good people who came because he, too, had tried to be a good person.

"All right, do you guys want to have breakfast now? Because I’m suddenly hungry," said Riki.

"I saw someone selling nasi pecel over there earlier—it looked good. Let’s go!" Kaivan led his two friends toward the nasi pecel vendor.

"Hey, take it easy!"
