The One King

Chapter 06: The Hidden Secret

After Gaia finished telling her story, Azrael remained silent for a while, reviewing everything he had heard in his mind.

Then he raised his eyes toward her and said calmly,

"Since your energy pathways are intact, perhaps you aren't actually crippled as you believe."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"If you allow me to conduct a thorough examination of your body, I may be able to discover the cause of your condition... and I may even have a way to solve it."

The moment Gaia heard his words, the spark of hope that had appeared in her eyes earlier burned even brighter.

She quickly nodded.

"I agree."

Azrael rose from his seat.

"Then let's go somewhere else and begin the examination."

He left the library and walked through the corridors of the palace, with Gaia following closely behind.

After a while, they arrived at an elegant chamber.

Azrael waved his hand, causing the door to open. He entered with Gaia and then closed the entrance behind them.

The room contained luxurious furnishings and a large bed covered with soft, velvet silk sheets.

Azrael turned toward Gaia.

"Remove your clothes and lie down on the bed."

Gaia's cheeks reddened slightly at his words, but she nodded.

Then she asked hesitantly,

"May I take a bath first? I'm still dirty from the journey."

Azrael nodded indifferently.

"Go ahead."

Gaia headed into the bathroom, while Azrael sat down on one of the chairs and began studying the Eternal Council System.

About fifteen minutes later, Gaia emerged from the bathroom.

Her long crimson hair was still wet, as she had not had time to dry it. Droplets of water slid from the ends of her hair onto her shoulders.

She approached Azrael and stopped before him.

Azrael raised his eyes toward her.

He stood from his chair and walked toward the bed, with Gaia following him.

When they reached it, he gestured toward the bed.

"Lie down."

Gaia hesitated for a moment before lying on her back.

Her tall, athletic body was slender and graceful, with a narrow waist and long, powerful legs. Her feminine figure was well-developed, including her full chest.

Azrael examined her for a moment before giving a slight nod.

"Hmm... You have a beautiful face and a beautiful body."

Gaia's face reddened slightly from embarrassment before she quietly settled down, gazing toward the ceiling.

Azrael brought his chair beside the bed and sat down.

Then he said,

"Relax."

Gaia nodded.

Yet her mind was racing.

He just complimented me!

Does he actually like my body?

This is so embarrassing...

Even so, she did not feel afraid of him.

It wasn't because she completely trusted him. Rather, she had already realized that if Azrael truly wanted to harm her, there was nothing she could do to stop him. Moreover, throughout the days they had traveled together, he had never shown any intention of taking advantage of her.

Azrael extended both hands.

He placed one palm against her forehead, while positioning the other near her dantian, beneath her abdomen.

The moment Gaia felt his touch, her body instinctively tensed, but she forced herself to relax.

Azrael closed his eyes.

Then he began channeling his spiritual energy into her body through his palms.

His energy entered her spiritual pathways, examining them with extraordinary precision.

One pathway after another.

One channel after another.

Then he moved on to her dantian.

A minute passed.

Then another.

Then several more.

Azrael remained completely silent, his concentration becoming increasingly intense.

Her spiritual pathways were intact.

Her dantian was not damaged.

Yet something was wrong.

Suddenly...

Azrael stopped.

He had sensed something.

Something strange hidden deep within Gaia's body.

He focused his spiritual energy on it and attempted to determine its nature.

But the moment his energy approached it, it collided with a mysterious barrier.

Azrael frowned.

He tried again.

But the result remained the same.

There was definitely something there.

Something that should not have been inside Gaia's body.

And yet, he could not determine what it was.

Azrael slowly opened his eyes.

Gaia looked at him anxiously.

"What did you find?"

Azrael remained silent for several moments.

Then he said,

"There is something inside your body."

Gaia's eyes widened.

"Something?"

Azrael nodded.

"Yes."

He frowned slightly.

"But my current cultivation is too low, so I can't determine what it is."

Silence descended upon the room.

For the first time in twenty years, Gaia began to wonder whether the truth was really that she had been born without talent.

Perhaps...

There had been something else hiding her true potential from the very beginning.
