After purchasing the pills, spiritual herbs, and cultivation resources necessary to break through his bottleneck, Azrael sat deep within the Ten Thousand Beast Mountains and began consuming them one after another.
He paid no heed to the enormous amount of energy surging into his body.
His body and soul were fundamentally different from those of ordinary cultivators.
Gulp!
The pills transformed into pure spiritual energy, while the spiritual herbs dissolved within his body, causing his aura to rise rapidly.
Hours passed.
Then, the surrounding space suddenly trembled violently.
BOOOOM!
A tremendous aura erupted from Azrael's body and soared into the heavens.
This aura was completely different from that of a Spiritual Emperor.
Azrael had broken through a massive bottleneck.
At that very moment, a System notification appeared before his eyes.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Master.]
[You have successfully broken through the bottleneck.]
[You have broken through the Spiritual Emperor Realm.]
[Current cultivation: Immortal Ascension Realm — First Level.]
Azrael opened his eyes.
But the breakthrough did not stop there.
The resources he had purchased were sufficient to propel him several levels higher.
The spiritual energy within his body continued circulating violently.
BOOM!
[Ding!]
[Immortal Ascension Realm — Second Level.]
Then—
BOOM!
[Ding!]
[Immortal Ascension Realm — Third Level.]
His cultivation continued rising.
Fourth Level.
Then the Fifth Level.
Finally, the surging aura gradually settled within his body.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Master.]
[You have reached the Fifth Level of the Immortal Ascension Realm.]
[Your cultivation foundation has been successfully stabilized.]
Azrael slowly opened his eyes.
He could clearly feel the immense power now filling his body.
Then he stood.
There was no reason for him to remain in the Ten Thousand Beast Mountains any longer.
He had obtained what he needed.
"It is time to return."
He rose into the sky and headed toward Radiance City.
Radiance City
Two days later, Azrael arrived in the city.
He immediately noticed that something had changed.
The atmosphere, which had previously been relatively peaceful, had become gloomy and tense.
Soldiers patrolled the streets from time to time, and several checkpoints had appeared throughout the city.
Azrael stopped for a moment.
It seems things have developed faster than I expected.
He then continued toward his residence.
He wanted to hear the latest developments from Gaya.
The moment he arrived at the mansion, Gaya greeted him with a bright smile.
"You finally returned."
Azrael nodded.
"Tell me what happened while I was gone."
Gaya nodded and began informing him of the latest developments.
"An official war has broken out between the Faran Duchy and the Foyd Duchy."
Azrael raised an eyebrow.
"An official war?"
"Yes."
She continued,
"The reason is a supreme-grade spiritual mine."
Azrael remained silent for a moment.
A supreme-grade spiritual mine was clearly no ordinary resource if it had been enough to ignite a war between two of the four great ducal families.
Gaya continued,
"The Races Protection Association attempted to intervene and impose a compromise between the two sides. They were invited to do so by Leon Foyd."
The moment Azrael heard the name, he experienced a strange sensation.
His expression changed slightly.
"Who is this man?"
Gaya answered,
"Leon Foyd is the second son of Duke Valer Foyd."
She then raised her fingers as she listed the members of the family.
"Duke Foyd has two daughters and one son. His eldest daughter is Lunaria Foyd, followed by his second son, Leon Foyd, and his youngest daughter, Selina Foyd."
She paused before adding,
"His wife is Lilian Foyd."
Azrael remained silent.
But Gaya continued.
"The Foyd family is quite interesting."
Azrael looked at her.
"How so?"
She replied,
"Lunaria Foyd, the eldest daughter, is the Holy Daughter of the Heavenly Council."
Azrael's eyes changed slightly.
The Heavenly Council.
The words that had been connected to his mysterious memories.
Gaya continued,
"As for the second son, Leon Foyd, he is the future Supreme Guardian of the Races Guardians Association."
Azrael asked,
"The Supreme Guardian?"
Gaya answered,
"The Supreme Guardian is the leader of the Association."
Silence descended.
Azrael said nothing.
He simply sat down and began analyzing the information he had received.
Lunaria Foyd.
The Holy Daughter of the Heavenly Council.
Leon Foyd.
The future Supreme Guardian of the Races Guardians Association.
And the Foyd family itself was now at war with the Faran Duchy.
All these pieces began fitting together in Azrael's mind like fragments of a puzzle.
An entire hour passed as he studied and analyzed the information.
Finally, he raised his head.
A cold glint appeared in his eyes.
He had made his decision.
Tonight, he would execute his plan.
He would raid the Infinite Races Guild branch.
The Plan
When Azrael told Gaya about his decision, her eyes lit up.
"I'll go with you."
Azrael immediately refused.
"No."
Gaya froze.
"But—"
"I said no."
His tone was so firm that she could not interrupt him.
Gaya frowned slightly.
"I've become stronger."
She was telling the truth.
Over the past twenty days, thanks to the cultivation resources Azrael had left for her and Olivia's guidance, Gaya had reached:
The Sixth Level of the Spiritual King Realm.
Yet Azrael did not change his mind.
"Your strength is still insufficient."
Gaya said,
"But I can help you."
Azrael looked at her calmly.
"The Infinite Races Guild is a supreme power."
He continued,
"Even if the target is only one of its branches, they will naturally have ways to protect their assets. They may recruit a few Immortal Ascendants to guard their branches."
Gaya's expression changed.
"But the Immortal Ascendants..."
Azrael interrupted her.
"They are worthless before me."
His expression then became more serious.
"But you are different."
Gaya fell silent.
"You only began cultivating a few months ago. It is true that your cultivation has risen rapidly, but you have no real combat experience."
He looked directly into her eyes.
"If something goes wrong, you could die."
Gaya wanted to protest.
But Azrael continued firmly,
"Therefore, you are not coming."
Silence.
Gaya knew he would not change his mind.
She finally asked,
"You're refusing outright?"
"Yes."
Azrael stood.
He walked toward the window and looked down at the city, which was now shrouded in tension.
Outside, soldiers moved through the streets.
And somewhere within the city, the Infinite Races Guild branch was guarding an enormous fortune.
Azrael raised his eyes toward the sky.
Night was approaching.
He spoke calmly.
"Tonight... I'll see just how wealthy this guild really is."
