The One King

Chapter 20: The Raid on the Infinite Races Guild

When midnight arrived, Azrael vanished from the mansion without leaving the slightest trace behind.

It was not merely a matter of moving at incredible speed. Azrael employed a special technique to suppress his life aura until it disappeared completely, as though his very existence had been erased from the world.

With this, infiltrating the guild and looting its treasury without alerting anyone would be far easier.

The branch of the Infinite Races Guild was housed in an enormous, imposing palace with a single massive entrance.

The entire palace had been constructed from gleaming white stone that reflected the moonlight, while the enormous gate was forged from a strange black metal that radiated a cold, oppressive aura.

The palace had been deliberately designed to display the guild's wealth, authority, and status.

However, its creators had never realized that flaunting such wealth would eventually attract the attention of someone like Azrael.

He did not see the palace as the headquarters of one of the world's great powers.

He saw it as something else entirely:

A massive treasury waiting to be emptied.

Several seconds later, a human-shaped shadow appeared at the guild's entrance.

Its presence was so faint that neither the passing pedestrians nor the guards noticed it.

Then, in the very next moment, the shadow disappeared.

Azrael had already entered the palace.

He moved through its corridors at astonishing speed, carefully using his spiritual sense as he searched for the treasury.

One corridor.

Then another.

Then hall after hall.

Yet he found nothing.

Azrael frowned slightly.

"Looks like they hid the treasury well."

He had no intention of giving up.

He continued sweeping through the palace again and again until he finally sensed extremely faint fluctuations of spiritual energy coming from behind one of the walls.

Azrael stopped.

He gently placed his hand against the wall.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Found you."

It took him only a few moments to discover the hidden entrance.

Beyond it lay an enormous chamber.

At the far end stood a massive golden gate covered in countless intricate formations.

The formations were layered over one another. Some were designed for defense, others to detect intruders, while several were meant to trigger alarms the moment anyone attempted to force their way into the treasury.

Azrael studied the formations for a few moments.

"Annoying."

He clenched his fist.

An immense force gathered around his hand.

Divine Fist Technique!

BOOOOOOM!

His fist slammed into the golden gate.

In an instant, the defensive formations shattered one after another like fragile glass.

The enormous gate exploded into countless fragments.

However, something Azrael did not care about happened immediately afterward.

DOOOOOONG!

Blaring alarms erupted throughout the entire palace.

Warning formations illuminated the halls as the entire building shook.

"There's an intruder!"

"The treasury!"

"Someone broke into the treasury!"

Cultivators began rushing toward the chamber from every direction, powerful auras converging on the location.

It took only moments for the treasury to become crowded with cultivators.

But when they arrived, they froze.

A man stood inside the treasury.

And before him...

There was nothing.

Every treasure was gone.

The pills were gone.

The cultivation resources were gone.

Even the beast cores that the guild had accumulated over countless years had vanished.

The treasury, which was supposed to represent the guild's enormous wealth, had been completely emptied.

A terrifying silence descended upon the chamber.

Then the cultivators' eyes began to redden with fury.

"Where are our treasures?!"

"You thief!"

"Give everything back!"

None of them needed to ask who had done it.

The man standing before them was the only possible culprit.

Their auras erupted simultaneously.

Shock transformed into rage.

Rage transformed into murderous intent.

They were prepared to kill Azrael and recover their wealth at any cost.

But Azrael did not say a single word.

He simply raised his eyes and looked at them coldly.

Then...

He moved.

In the next instant, Azrael charged toward them as well.

There was no fear in his eyes.

There was only one thing.

Indifference.

To Azrael, this was not a real battle.

It was merely the cleanup operation after a successful robbery.
