The One King

Chapter 21: The Axe That Split the Earth

A great battle erupted within the branch of the Infinite Races Guild.

The guild's cultivators surrounded Azrael from every direction, launching attack after attack in an attempt to exhaust him before finally killing him.

However, their attacks were pitifully weak.

None of the cultivators attacking him had surpassed the Spiritual Emperor Realm, and against Azrael's current strength, their attacks posed no threat whatsoever.

In the blink of an eye, Azrael slaughtered them.

Blood splattered across the shattered treasury as one cultivator after another fell.

Once the last of them collapsed, Azrael turned around and prepared to leave.

But before he could take a single step, a powerful aura suddenly descended upon him, attempting to restrain him and prevent his escape.

An old man appeared.

His hair and beard were completely white, and his face was covered in deep wrinkles. He held a simple walking cane in one hand.

The old man stared coldly at Azrael.

"Do you really think you can escape with all of the guild's treasures right before this old man's eyes?"

The instant his words fell, the old man vanished.

His speed was astonishing.

In the next moment, he appeared directly before Azrael and thrust the cane toward his chest, aiming straight for his heart.

Azrael's eyes narrowed.

He twisted his body and narrowly avoided the thrust.

At the same time, he threw a powerful punch toward the old man's face.

However, the old man easily evaded it.

His figure blurred before he disappeared and reappeared ten meters away from Azrael.

The old man raised his cane.

With a sharp click, a slender blade emerged from within it.

His expression became cold as he charged toward Azrael once more.

The blade flashed repeatedly.

Every strike was fast and deadly, each one aimed at a vital point.

Had Azrael been an ordinary cultivator, he would have already been killed several times over.

But Azrael remained completely calm.

He dodged every attack with precise movements, never allowing the blade to touch him.

After avoiding another deadly strike, his figure suddenly vanished.

He reappeared several meters away from the old man.

With a thought, he retrieved his massive battle axe from the system's storage.

Azrael rested the enormous axe against his shoulder and looked at the old man with a faint smile.

"Rejoice, old man. You are the first cultivator to die beneath my Supreme Axe Art."

His words caused the old man's expression to change.

Azrael lowered his stance.

His aura suddenly became sharp.

Then he murmured:

"Supreme Axe Arts—First Form—Absolute Cleave."

The instant the words fell, a purple light erupted from the blade of the axe.

The light grew increasingly intense, gathering terrifying amounts of power as time passed.

The old man's pupils contracted.

A chill ran through his entire body.

His instincts screamed at him.

That light threatened his life.

He immediately understood that he could not allow Azrael to complete the technique.

The old man roared and lunged toward Azrael, intending to interrupt the technique before it could be unleashed.

Thirty centimeters.

That was all that remained between his blade and Azrael.

But at that moment—

Azrael moved.

His figure vanished from before the old man and appeared behind him.

The old man's eyes widened.

Azrael raised his axe.

His voice was cold.

"Die."

Then he swung.

SHIIIIING!

The massive axe tore through the air.

The void itself seemed to split beneath its edge as the weapon descended toward the old man's head.

The old man had no time to react.

The axe struck.

His body split cleanly into two.

Before either half could fall, his entire body transformed into dust.

But the power of the attack did not stop there.

The purple blade of energy continued downward and struck the ground.

BOOOOOOM!

The earth split apart.

A gigantic crack spread beneath the building, tearing through the ground like a monstrous scar.

The foundations and supporting structures of the palace were instantly destabilized.

CRAAAAASH!

The entire building began to collapse.

Floors broke apart.

Walls crumbled.

The ground beneath the palace gave way and swallowed the enormous structure whole.

In a matter of moments, the once-majestic branch of the Infinite Races Guild disappeared beneath the earth.

Azrael, however, had already vanished.

He had no intention of staying behind to witness the destruction.

His figure streaked through the night sky toward his mansion.

There was only one thing left to do.

Take Gaya and Olivia and leave Radiance City before the guild's response arrived.
