The One King

Chapter 40: The Resurrection of the Ancient Clan

Azrael’s voice echoed through the void around them. He then turned around, and the moment Gaia saw his face, her expression froze in shock.

Two bloody tears were falling from Azrael’s eyes.

They were not ordinary tears. Each drop seemed to carry the pain, suffering, and hatred that had accumulated over millions of years.

Gaia slowly stepped forward, raised her hand, and wiped the two tears from his face before embracing him once again.

But her heart was aching.

A man who possessed such immense pride and dignity as Azrael had shed tears.

That alone was enough for Gaia to realize that the suffering he had endured was beyond what even mountains could withstand.

At that moment, Gaia made a decision that would change her life forever.

She would share all of his burdens, both past and future.

And she would stand by his side, no matter what path he chose in the future.

After a few moments, the two separated.

Azrael spoke calmly.

“Let us go to the continent. We have companions there who need to be freed, and we have future plans that must be made.”

When Gaia heard that he had companions, curiosity immediately arose within her, but she did not ask who they were. After all, they were going to meet them anyway.

However, another question came to her mind.

“How are we going to reach the continent? It’s extremely far away. With our current flying speed, we won’t be able to reach it in a short time.”

A mysterious smile appeared on Azrael’s face.

Then he spoke in a commanding voice.

“Daria, initiate teleportation to the continent.”

The moment his words fell, a cold female voice emerged from the surrounding void.

Gaia tried to determine where the voice was coming from, but she failed.

It seemed as though the voice was coming from everywhere at once.

“Welcome, Master. May I know your exact destination on the continent?”

Azrael replied,

“To Abaddon.”

He paused for a moment before adding in a deep voice:

“It is time for the clan’s resurrection.”

Silence followed for a brief moment.

Then the cold voice returned, but this time it carried unmistakable excitement.

“As you command, Master.”

She then added, her voice filled with the longing of someone who had waited for countless ages:

“Finally... the time has come. I have waited for eons for this day.”

Gaia silently listened to the conversation between Azrael and the mysterious voice. Her curiosity was eating away at her, but she did not interrupt them.

After the voice disappeared, the black stone platform beneath their feet began to tremble.

Purple inscriptions appeared across its surface, gradually beginning to glow with increasing intensity until the entire platform transformed into a massive pillar of purple light that pierced through the dark void.

In the next instant, Azrael and Gaia disappeared into the light.

The platform then returned to its original state, as though nothing had happened.

Inside the purple beam, Gaia felt a strange yet pleasant sensation surrounding her body.

However, her curiosity was stronger than her ability to remain silent.

“Azrael, where are we going? To the continent? And who was the owner of that voice?”

Gaia bombarded Azrael with questions.

Although she was usually calm, she was naturally curious and loved anything surrounded by mystery and secrets.

Perhaps that was one of the things that had attracted her to Azrael, aside from his appearance, of course.

Azrael looked at her calmly and said,

“Wait a little... and you will see.”

Gaia nodded and decided to wait.

Several minutes later, the beam emerged from the void and descended upon the top of a towering black tower.

Yet neither Azrael nor Gaia felt any impact whatsoever.

The purple light gradually faded.

Then a magnificent scene appeared before Gaia’s eyes, leaving her speechless.

A vast city.

Its towering black walls stretched into the distance, while enormous buildings rose toward the sky. Its massive streets extended throughout the city like an endless network.

Gaia stood atop the tower, staring at the enormous city in astonishment.

Her eyes shimmered with shock.

She quickly turned toward Azrael and asked,

“What is this city? It’s incredibly beautiful! It’s even more beautiful than the capital of the Central Empire, which is known as the most beautiful city in the entire mortal world!”

The moment Azrael heard Gaia compare the city, his expression darkened.

He looked at her with a trace of displeasure and said,

“You dare compare my beloved capital, Abaddon, to a small human city?”

He paused for a moment before continuing with complete seriousness:

“That is an insult to my city.”

Upon hearing his words, Gaia could no longer hold herself back.

She burst into laughter from the bottom of her heart.

Azrael simply stared at her in silence, while the magnificent city of Abaddon stretched endlessly behind them beneath the sky of the continent.
