The One King

Chapter 41: The Greatest Under Heaven

After Gaia finished taking in the sight of the city, she turned her gaze back toward Azrael and asked,

“So, what is this city? And where are we going next?”

Azrael answered calmly,

“This is the capital of my clan, the Supreme Council Clan. From here, we will fly in this direction toward the Sovereign Castle.”

Azrael then flew into the city at tremendous speed, with Gaia following closely behind.

Because Azrael was the Lord of this domain, none of the barriers throughout the city stopped them, nor did anyone dare to obstruct their path.

After three hours of flight, an enormous castle appeared before them—larger than anything Gaia had ever seen in her entire life.

Its color was as black as coal, and it towered so high that it seemed to reach the heavens themselves.

Azrael descended before a colossal staircase. On both sides of the stairs lay the enormous skulls of mythical beasts, creatures Gaia had never seen the likes of before.

Azrael began ascending the stairs, with Gaia following behind him.

When they reached the top, they stood before an enormous gate that was one hundred meters tall.

The gate was completely black and covered in mysterious engravings that Gaia could not understand.

On either side of the gate stood two strange statues of monstrous creatures, each seventy meters tall. Both were kneeling, with a massive spear resting beside each of them.

The moment Azrael approached the gate, the statue on the right suddenly moved.

In the next instant, a terrifying aura erupted from it.

Under the pressure of that aura, it seemed as though the entire world had lost its colors.

The statue slowly raised its spear and spoke in a thunderous, terrifying voice:

“Identify yourself, stranger.”

At the same time, the statue on the left moved as well, releasing an aura of equal intensity before grasping its spear.

“You are intruding upon the realm of the Greatest Under Heaven.”

The moment Gaia felt the terrifying auras of the two statues, absolute fear seized her.

Her face turned pale.

This was the first time in her life she had ever felt an aura so powerful.

Even Azrael’s overwhelming aura, or Olivia’s divine aura, could not compare to the level of these two statues.

Then a thought suddenly crossed Gaia’s mind, shocking her even further.

These two statues were merely guardians of the castle gate.

Then just how powerful was the being whom these statues referred to as the “Greatest Under Heaven”?

And how arrogant must that person be to give himself such a title?

While Gaia’s thoughts raced, Azrael finally spoke.

His aura began to rise gradually.

At the same time, mysterious purple lines began forming across his forehead, slowly converging into a single word:

“Greatest.”

Azrael spoke in a deep and majestic voice:

“Valdor... Igor...”

He paused for a moment before continuing,

“Have you truly failed to recognize this great one? Or do I need to remind you?”

The instant Valdor and Igor sensed that unique aura and saw the glowing purple word upon Azrael’s forehead, their bodies froze.

They immediately lowered their heads.

Then, in the next instant, they shouted together in voices that shook the entire castle:

“Glory to the Greatest...”

Their voices rose even louder.

“Glory to the Council!”
