Azrael and Gaya flew through the air in silence for a while before Gaya finally asked, “Azrael, what realm are you in now?”
Azrael turned his head toward her. Gaya’s heart began to beat faster. She still hadn’t grown accustomed to Azrael’s new appearance. His facial features had not changed, but he had somehow become even more handsome.
“I’m currently at the seventh level of the Immortal King Realm,” Azrael replied.
Gaya was astonished by the speed of his cultivation. However, when she remembered that Azrael was an ancient existence who had lived for billions of years, the shock was somewhat diminished.
“And where are we heading now?” she asked.
Azrael’s voice dripped with hatred.
“We’re going to settle an old score with the Rain Empire. Then, we’ll take their territory as a foothold for our clan in this world.”
Gaya nodded in agreement. She felt that the time had finally come for the Eternal Council Clan to reveal itself in this world.
“Oh, and congratulations on reaching the peak of the Immortal Ascension Realm,” Azrael added casually.
Gaya smiled gently at the praise.
“But I’m still far behind you.”
“Our circumstances are different,” Azrael replied. “This is your first journey on the path of cultivation, yet you reached the peak of Immortal Ascension in roughly four years. That is fast even by the standards of Millennium. As for me, this isn’t my first life, and I’m merely recovering my former strength. That’s why my progress appears so rapid.”
Gaya nodded with a smile. She could tell that Azrael was genuinely praising her.
Then she asked, “Where should we begin destroying the Rain Empire?”
Azrael answered indifferently, “We’ll destroy their capital first.”
Gaya almost pointed out that the capital would certainly be protected by powerful Immortals. Although the Rain Empire had no Divine Ascendant, it still possessed numerous Immortals, including Immortal Kings.
But then she remembered Azrael’s overwhelming strength—and the fact that he had killed a Divine Ascendant not long ago.
She silently swallowed her words.
Half a month later, Azrael and Gaya appeared above a vast city.
Its towering walls surrounded magnificent buildings, while a colossal palace stood at its center. The banners of the Rain Empire fluttered proudly from the palace towers.
Yes.
This was the capital of the Rain Empire.
Azrael hovered above the city alongside Gaya for several moments.
Gaya finally asked, “So, where do we begin?”
“I’ll destroy it with a single strike.”
Gaya stared at him in disbelief.
Day after day, Azrael seemed to surprise her with something even more outrageous than the last.
Azrael slowly opened his mouth.
Then he roared.
“In vengeance for the old man, I shall destroy the Rain Empire—and bury it alongside him, so that it may keep him company in death!”
His voice thundered across the entire city.
The citizens froze.
Panic spread through the streets as countless people looked toward the sky in terror. Powerful auras suddenly erupted from the palace.
One Immortal King.
Five True Immortals.
Dozens of other Immortals of weaker realms.
A middle-aged man wearing a blue imperial robe embroidered with the emblem of the Rain Empire rose into the sky.
His expression was furious.
“Who dares speak such nonsense within my empire?!”
His gaze locked onto the two figures hovering above the capital.
Azrael merely glanced at the Rain Emperor.
Then he raised one hand toward the heavens.
A faint purple radiance began to gather around his palm.
The moment his hand rose, the sky changed.
Dark clouds rapidly gathered above the capital. Lightning began to flash within them as the clouds started rotating, forming an enormous vortex that covered the entire sky.
The Rain Emperor initially paid little attention to Azrael’s gesture.
But when the heavens themselves began to transform, his expression gradually became serious.
An instinctive sense of danger surged through his entire body.
“Kill that man!” he shouted.
He immediately drew his sword and lunged toward Azrael.
But it was already too late.
Azrael looked down at him with a cold, almost mocking expression.
Then he quietly murmured:
“Heaven-Suppressing Palm.”
His hand descended.
BOOM!
An incomparably terrifying pressure crashed down upon the capital.
At the same moment, something began descending from the enormous vortex in the heavens.
At first, it was merely a vague silhouette.
Then its shape became clearer.
Gaya’s eyes widened.
A gigantic black hand was descending from the sky.
It was so enormous that it completely surpassed the size of the capital beneath it.
The massive palm descended like a falling celestial body, carrying an overwhelming force that seemed capable of crushing everything beneath the heavens.
The people below looked upward in absolute terror.
The Rain Emperor’s face turned deathly pale.
“This… is impossible…”
Even the Immortal Kings within the capital felt their souls tremble.
Meanwhile, Gaya watched Azrael from the side.
His actions seemed strangely familiar.
She remembered the golden finger from before and immediately realized that Azrael was using a similar technique.
But when she saw the colossal palm descending from the heavens, she was utterly stunned.
She had expected something powerful.
She had never expected it to be this enormous.
