The Real Heiress Has an Appraisal System

Chapter 72: Finding Evidence in a Used Car! (Part 1)

The viewers were already lurking. "Streamer, what are you going to buy?!"

"I’m doomed! I want to buy them all. These cars are practically new, and they all look so cool."

"Hey, person above, you’ve clearly never looked into luxury cars! Some of these are good, some are bad, but most are Franken-cars. Buying one is a waste of money. Only people trying to keep up appearances would buy them!"

"The streamer is definitely going to lose money on this one!"

"..."

Gu Shengsheng crossed her arms, looking a little conflicted herself.

"I want something on the smaller side. I got my driver’s license in college but I’ve never actually driven a car, so sports cars are out of the question. Something practical and conventional will do."

Even though she was here to pick out a used car for a viewer challenge, Gu Shengsheng still wanted to choose something practical.

After she said that, the car salesman was momentarily at a loss for words. His gaze drifted to a low-speed buggy in the corner.

Just then, an old man who was buying one hopped in for a test drive. He zipped around the dealership in the buggy without any trouble, even waving to Gu Shengsheng. It looked surprisingly cool!

Gu Shengsheng couldn’t help but smile. "Actually, a low-speed buggy isn’t a bad idea. If I had one, I’d never have to worry about traffic jams."

In Beijing City, after all, these buggies were everywhere.

Other cities had regulations prohibiting them from entering the city center, but Beijing City was different. The old men driving these buggies were usually the type who lived in courtyard houses—people you couldn’t afford to offend.

The result was that while everyone else was stuck in traffic, the low-speed buggies were cruising freely.

The streets were filled with the happy sight of these buggies, a stark contrast to the harried figures of office workers.

The male salesman looked at Gu Shengsheng, a little stunned. "You’re not actually thinking of buying one, are you?"

’If she buys one of those, how am I supposed to get my commission?!’

So he quickly said, "Miss, if you’re worried about convenience, or if these cars are too big or too expensive, we can take all that into account. I really think that Mercedes over there for a little over 300,000 would be perfect for you."

"That’s a Franken-car, isn’t it? Parts from various scrapped cars pieced together to make a ’new’ one."

He nodded. "That’s right. But miss, with a budget of 300,000, this is the kind of quality you can expect. If you want something better, you’ll probably have to pay more."

"You get what you pay for. I’m sure you understand."

Gu Shengsheng nodded.

She happened to rest her hand on the car.

Gu Shengsheng was surprised that her System could even appraise luxury cars, and in such detail. Her interest was suddenly piqued.

’This is actually pretty interesting.’

They were asking for 300,000 for this thing, which was nearly 100,000 more than the market price. It was clear the salesman thought she was young, gullible, and an easy mark with more money than sense.

Gu Shengsheng said, "I’m not a big fan of this model."

"...That’s fine, Miss. Let’s look at some others."

He wore a professional fake smile, but his eyes were filled with disdain. He lowered his head and muttered under his breath, "If you don’t have money, why are you browsing a used luxury car dealership? Just go buy a Wuling Hongguang."

But Gu Shengsheng overheard him. She smiled and said, "There’s nothing wrong with a Wuling Hongguang. At least it’s a practical, economical car, and a decent domestic product. You certainly don’t need to use it as an insult here."

"I’m sorry, Miss." He apologized immediately. "I’m not myself today. I was just talking nonsense. Please don’t take it to heart."

The more he acted this way, the more attention he drew from the people around them.

Gu Shengsheng had always known that many people kiss up to their superiors and step on everyone else; it was just the way of the world. But when it happened right in front of her, why should she have to tolerate it? ’Who does he think he is? Did I give him the impression he could disrespect me?’

So she said, "I’d like to speak to your manager and have a different salesperson assist me. Or should I just call and report your dealership?"

Gu Shengsheng looked completely uncompromising, not having listened to a single word of his apology.

The male salesman got angry too. "What is your problem? You won’t accept my apology, and now you’re making things difficult for me like some kind of shrew. What kind of customer are you?!"

"You women are all just whiny nags. This is such a small thing, is it going to kill you? So I couldn’t control my damn mouth—I already apologized! Why can’t you just forgive me?"

As he spoke, he moved to shove Gu Shengsheng.

But she was naturally agile and simply sidestepped, causing him to lunge at empty air.

The manager also ran over, bringing security guards to restrain the man.

"I’m so sorry, Miss! You must be frightened!"

"We will deal with this person. I’m terribly sorry, Miss. This has ruined your shopping experience."

Even as the security guards held him back, the salesman was still having a meltdown. "What’s wrong with customers giving us service workers a break? I have to wait on you entitled pricks every day! I’ve been wanting to quit this damn job for ages!"

"A bitch like you just won’t let it go! Don’t you know how to forgive and forget?"

But Gu Shengsheng was no pushover.

Before, she might have thought it was fine to let things slide, to forgive and forget. But now... to hell with that!

Striding forward in her low heels, handbag in hand, she walked up and slapped the salesman across the face. "I may be good-tempered, but that doesn’t give you the right to insult me."

"And it certainly doesn’t give you the right to guilt-trip me. Don’t you dare stand on your moral high ground and point fingers. I don’t care what anyone else says. A person like you just deserves a beating."

The terrified manager had the security guards pull the man further away. "You absolute fool!"

’The boss is coming to inspect the place today! What if he sees this? How could this have happened?!’

’Please don’t let the boss show up right now!’

Just as the manager was panicking, a clear laugh rang out from the floor above. "Well, well. It’s been a while since my last visit. Have my employees always been like this?"

The owner was very handsome, but Gu Shengsheng thought the man next to him, the one with a beauty mark on the tip of his nose, was even more attractive. He looked to be about 6’4".

And... he looked very familiar. Wait... wasn’t that her neighbor?!

She almost hadn’t recognized him.

The two men approached Gu Shengsheng.

The man in front had a devil-may-care air and a pair of peach blossom eyes. He was undeniably handsome, but also far too flippant.

He looked at Gu Shengsheng and smiled. "Miss Gu, I’m Jin Ran. And this gentleman next to me is my friend."

His words were laced with meaning. He looked at Lu Shijing. "Aren’t you going to introduce yourself?"

Lu Shijing looked at Gu Shengsheng. "Miss Gu, we meet again."

"Oh." She stiffly extended her hand and shook his.

Jin Ran leaned close to Lu Shijing’s ear and whispered, "Looks like your little wifey still doesn’t know you’re her husband."

"This is pretty interesting, you two. A good-luck marriage, hahaha..."

Lu Shijing shot him a threatening glare. "Shut up."

Gu Shengsheng looked at this Jin Ran. Something about him seemed off.
