[A Week Later]
"Did you hear?" A large man with a scar across his face said, "That new villain group, the Splinters, was erased a week ago."
The large man chugged down a whole jug of beer before slamming it back down on the table and continuing, "heard they were done in by Zero."
"The mercenary working for Sable?" Another man at the same table asked, "Ain’t he new or something?"
"Yup," the large man responded, "turns out the kid got skills."
"Or perhaps the Splinters weren’t worth their shi," a skinnier man sitting at the table from across them said.
The two weren’t exactly keeping their voices low, so it was easy to hear their conversation multiple tables ahead, despite the noise in the bar.
"What makes you think that?" The large man with a scar on his face asked.
"Think about it," the skinny man said, standing up with his beer in hand and walking towards the two, "What’s the worst that they have done?"
"Put an entire amusement park under mind control?" The second man that was at the table with the large man responded.
"Exactly," the skinny man nodded as he sat down, "now compare them to the big leagues, like the Argent Ring, who were engaged in multiple large incidents, including the trafficking of awakened humans."
"I see," the second man nodded in understanding.
"So, you’re saying they died because they were weak, not because Zero was strong?" The large man asked.
"Yup," the skinny man said as he also chugged down his beer, "bet I can handle him all by myself."
Before anything else could be said,
DING!
The bell above the door that led into the bar suddenly rang, signalling that a new customer was walking in.
All eyes turned toward the newly arrived man, and they simultaneously frowned when their gazes fell upon him.
The man seemed woefully out of place, especially with the way he was dressed.
"Hey buddy," the skinny man was the first to speak up, "I don’t think Halloween is for another six months."
Well, the man was indeed dressed as if he was some sort of cosplayer. His upper body was bare save for the broad, deep-red and orange sash with gold edges crosses diagonally over his torso and a large bead-like necklace hanging on his neck.
He also had on dark brown loose-looking pants that were wrapped with some type of wrapping cloth that extended all the way to his bare feet.
But the most standout feature about the man, aside from his bald head and gold earring, was the orange blindfold covering his face.
By all means, he looked like some sort of monk.
With a smile, the man calmly walked towards the table where the three sat before ’looking’ directly at the skinny man and speaking, "Pardon my intrusion, but I overheard you talking about Zero, and I couldn’t help but wonder if you know who he is and where I can find him."
The ’monk’s’ voice was completely calm as he spoke.
"Who’s asking?" The skinny man asked with a smug expression.
Since he was feeling a bit drunk, might as well mess with the weirdo.
"You may address me as Sage," The monk responded. "I owe someone a favor, and to repay it, I need to find someone else’s, who I’m certain is this Zero."
"Is that so?" The skinny man let out a sigh as he leaned back. "And what if I’m Zero?"
The monk was silent for a while before asking again, "Are you?"
It seems the idiot fell for it....or at least, that’s what the skinny man thought. The larger man silently looked at him before letting out a sigh.
Perhaps the idiot was too drunk.
"I a—"
The skinny man didn’t get to finish his words when something suddenly slammed into him, launching him off the chair and towards the wall on the far end of the bar.
Everyone within the bar looked at the monk with wide eyes.
They hadn’t even seen him move, and yet, the skinny man was stuck within a wall.
"I apologize, but your Pragma doesn’t match the one that’s used to help me identify Zero," the monk started, but the next second, his calm voice changed to a threatening one, "and I hate liars."
Everyone within the bar felt a heavy pressure fall on their shoulders, but the next second, it disappeared as if it was only an illusion.
The monk then turned to the other two at the table before smiling again and asking, "Would you two mind helping me?"
"We know virtually nothing bout the guy," the large man answered as he took a sip of his beer, "all we know is that he had white hair and wore suits."
"Ah," the monk let out as he waved a hand before his blindfold, "that information would prove quite useless to me."
He truly was blind.
Though everyone here doubted that, Bone was brave enough to call him out on it.
"Perhaps try looking for Sable," the second man said, "Zero is his mercenary after all."
"Though, after the attack on his base, he seemed to have relocated to somewhere different."
"I see," he didn’t, but anyway, "thank you for the help."
The monk, Sage, then turned around to leave the bar before he paused and turned back to them, "your friend should be fine when he wakes up, but he might need drugs for his headache."
With that, he walked out, leaving the bar completely silent, with a single thought going through all their heads.
’Who the hell was that?’

Liam, meanwhile, unaware of what was coming his way, walked into his room with a small smile on his face.
The moment he stepped into the room, though, that smile faded as he dug into his pockets and retrieved the USB drive that Crew had handed to him.
The hitman walked towards the bed, sat down and retrieved his laptop.
Liam connected the drive and watched it load for a while before a file automatically opened.
Within that file was another, this one titled:
Anomalies of the Fracture Event.
"Let’s see what mom and dad found out."
