"You’re not supposed to be here."
Was the last thing Hypnos heard before he was suddenly forced out of Zero’s mind.
The Splinter returned to the real world with a bleeding nose as his entire body remained frozen for a couple more seconds.
"Are you okay?" Erode managed to snap him out of his frozen state, and when Hypnos turned to her, all she saw in his eyes was fear.
"I tried to warn you," Zero spoke up as he recovered from his mind being invaded without his permission.
Although he seemed to have a smile on his face, that smile was simply hiding what he actually felt due to the memory Hypnos had reminded him of.
The Splinter looked at him for a while before ordering, "Kill him."
Hypnos had intended to break the Mercenary’s mind before he finally ended him, but he was certain that if he tried going in there again, he would die.
Erode didn’t question his orders.
She simply watched him walk away before turning back to Zero, "For someone about to die, you seem oddly calm."
"I could say the same about you two," Zero responded with a smile.
Erode silently looked at him for a while before letting out a sigh and saying, "Goodbye, Zero."
She then extended her hand towards him, but strangely, instead of fear, the mercenary’s grin only got wider.
Before Erode had the chance to touch him, Zero suddenly spoke up, "Say cheese."
Erode seemed confused for a second, that is, until she noticed something in his hand. Zero tossed it between them, and a second after, a flash of light flooded her vision, blinding and disorienting her.
Her hand landed on the chair behind the hitman, completely disintegrating it and giving him a chance to escape.
Erode, still blind, suddenly felt something slam into her, launching her away from Zero and knocking the breath out of her.
Hypnos turned around to see the kid standing up and stretching. "I guess that’s as far as my acting goes."
Zero then moved a hand to his face and towards the bruises on it, and he simply...wiped them off?
"My makeup was quite convincing, wasn’t it?" He said with a grin as he looked towards Hypnos, "though my plan didn’t work out as I had intended."
"You let yourself be captured?" Hypnos asked.
"More like I turned myself in," instead of Zero, the one who had spoken was a man who slowly walked out of the shadows.
Agent 46.
The very same man that Erode had killed only a few minutes ago.
In the next second, Agent 46 took on features that were identical to Zero’s...the only difference being the fact that he was bald.
Erode, meanwhile, had finally recovered from the flash. She immediately turned towards the two figures, only to see two identical faces staring back at her.
"Who the hell are you?" She asked with a frown on her face.
"Don’t you recognize me?" The bald Zero said, "I’m Agent 46."
"That’s impossible," she said.
"We live in a world where a man can bench a building," Zero spoke up again, "so I’d say this is pretty possible."
"What were you hoping to achieve by giving yourself in?" Hypnos suddenly interrupted, as he still failed to read the minds of the two before him.
"The bounty," Zero responded, and his expression soon turned completely serious as he added, "and to eliminate some of the Splinters."
Hypnos silently looked at him for a while before he burst out in laughter, amused by the mercenary’s words.
It seemed he had momentarily forgotten that the kid before him was nothing but a toy, despite having someone terrifying within his mind.
"Then I’m afraid you’re out of luck, Zero," he said, "you’re up against the wrong Splinter."
"We’ll find out, won’t we?" Zero said with a grin.
"We indeed will," the Splinter said with an even larger grin before commanding, "freeze."
Zero’s body was suddenly frozen in place, and the gas canister he was secretly creating suddenly dissolved since it was incomplete.
The same could be said for Agent 46, who was also about to make his move. The two were frozen in place with their bodies refusing to respond to their commands.
Taking that as her signal, Erode suddenly launched herself towards the two, her gloved hand aiming for both of them.
The fight seemed over before it even started.....That is, before Erode let out a scream of pain.
ARRRGGGHH!
Hypnos turned towards them again and noticed a blade in the original Zero’s hand, dripping with blood.
Erode’s hand...or rather, arm was extended towards him, but her hand was missing; instead, it was lying on the ground, cleanly cut off.
The katana then swung for the Splinter’s head, but Hypnos suddenly ordered again, "Stop!"
Again, Zero’s body became frozen as the blade stopped just an inch away from her neck, allowing her to quickly jump back to safety.
Hypnos, on the other hand, looked at the frozen Zero in confusion. It was obvious enough that his Factor was working, so how had the kid managed to move?
"This really is annoying," Zero let out as he regained control of his body and put the katana down.
He then turned towards Agent 46, and he also regained control of his body.
Zero then turned back to Hypnos and said, "I guess that makeover really did give you a power boost "
"W-what the hell are you?" Erode, who was still in pain as she clutched her bleeding wrist, managed to let out.
She had seen what Hypnos was capable of from the moment he had woken up from that coma, so how the hell was this monster resisting his mind control?
"Well, the dead would have no use for that information now, would they?" Zero simply responded.
"You seem awfully confident for someone who’s very clearly outmatched," Hypnos said with a frown.
"I’m not the one missing a hand," the hitman said, and the next second, a gas mask formed on both his and Agent 46’s faces as he added, "Let’s properly get started, shall we?
