Only then did Zhou Yuan realize his nephew had picked a fight with someone from Medicine King Hall. He immediately glared at his brother, exasperated. "Xiao Han is young and foolish, but are you foolish too? Is Medicine King Hall someone we can afford to provoke? You idiot!"
Zhou Er said resentfully, "I just meant to beat that kid up a little to let Xiao Han vent. I didn't plan to get rough, but who knew…"
"He did all this by himself?"
Zhou Yuan pointed at the thugs lying all over the floor.
Zhou Er nodded. "Brother, I suspect that kid is…"
"Hmph! Besides an Ancient Martial Artist, who else could have this kind of ability? You really are something else. You didn't even investigate his background before jumping in. You know damn well how terrifying an Ancient Martial Artist can be!"
Hearing this, Zhou Er grew defiant. "Brother, back in the day, didn't we also…"
"Shut up!"
Zhou Yuan's eyes instantly turned cold and sharp as he roared.
"Don't ever mention that incident again…"
Zhou Er trembled but didn't argue back. "Brother, are we just going to swallow this humiliation?"
Zhou Yuan stared coldly in the direction Chen Erbao had left. "We brothers have navigated the underworld for years. We've seen it all, from the criminal to the legitimate. Even if he's a partner of Medicine King Hall, he can't just humiliate us like this… But this matter requires careful planning. Stay out of it. I'll handle it."
"Okay."
Although Zhou Er was in the underworld, he wasn't as sharp as his brother, Zhou Yuan, who operated in the legitimate world. Major decisions were usually left to Zhou Yuan.
"Get these guys back for now. I'll discuss this with the Fang Family tomorrow and see what they think."
...
By the time they returned to the Vienna Hotel, it was already late. Chen Erbao took Lin Zhiqing straight back to their room.
After a full day of wandering around, Lin Zhiqing was exhausted. She took a quick shower, then burrowed under the covers, ready to sleep.
Chen Erbao, on the other hand, was full of energy. But since Lin Zhiqing was sleepy, he decided not to bother her. Instead, he went into the living room, took out the jade, and started pondering what to do with it.
His original idea was to bury this piece of Spirit-Containing Jade in Bailong Mountain to serve as an array foundation. But on second thought, the jade was quite large; burying the whole thing seemed a bit inappropriate.
He searched through the Joyful Technique for various strange magic techniques until finally, his eyes lit up. He had found a suitable method.
'Protective Jade Tokens!'
This was a type of protective talisman recorded in the Joyful Technique. However, most talismans were single-use items.
If a Spirit-Containing Object was used as the medium, the effect would be much better, and it could even be reused.
As his business grew, so did the number of enemies he provoked. He didn't need to worry about his own safety, of course, but the women around him needed to be equipped for it.
Chen Erbao looked at the fist-sized piece of jade and felt it was still too small!
Even if he used all of it, he could probably only make three Jade Tokens!
But he had far more than three women…
Lin Zhiqing, Zhao Ruoying, Lin Rui, his sister-in-law, Sister Shuzhen, Zhang Yiyi…
That was already six, and that wasn't even counting Bai Xiaoqing and Chen Jiaqi…
Sigh!
Chen Erbao sighed.
'Having too many women is a hassle, too.'
After long consideration, he decided to use up all the jade for now and make three Jade Tokens.
Lin Zhiqing and Zhao Ruoying were must-haves. The third would go to Lin Rui.
After all, Lin Rui was away at school and was bound to run into some unexpected situations.
As for his sister-in-law and Sister Shuzhen, they were usually in Bailong Village and likely wouldn't need one, so they could wait.
The trip to Dian Nan had originally been a backup plan, but now it seemed he had to go.
Having made his decision, Chen Erbao immediately got to work.
He gathered Spiritual Power at his fingertip, forming an invisible Spiritual Energy Knife. Then, following the method for making a Jade Token in his mind, he began to cut and shape the jade.
As jade dust drifted down, a third of the material was cut away. Chen Erbao lowered his head, carving intently. In just a few short minutes, a Jade Token had taken its basic shape.
The next step was to inscribe the Array Patterns.
The essence of a talisman was actually an Array. The only difference was that an Array used mountains and rivers as its medium, while a talisman used paper or an object. The principle was similar.
Chen Erbao's hand was steady. Sharp Spiritual Qi flowed from his fingertip as he continuously carved into the Jade Token. After more than ten minutes, he had finally inscribed all the Array Patterns.
He carved the Array Patterns on one side, and on the other, Chen Erbao decided to carve Lin Zhiqing's likeness. It could serve as a form of identification!
Once everything was done, Spiritual Power gushed from Chen Erbao's body, activating the Array Patterns. After all the work was complete, a shimmering green, small, and exquisite Protective Jade Token was finally finished!
Chen Erbao looked at the Jade Pendant in his hand with satisfaction. Only then did he put the remaining jade away in his backpack before climbing into bed, holding Lin Zhiqing's soft body as he fell into a deep sleep.
...
The next day, Chen Erbao woke from his deep sleep to see Lin Zhiqing already sitting up and playing on her phone.
"What time is it?"
Chen Erbao asked, rubbing his hair.
Lin Zhiqing pinched Chen Erbao's cheek with her small hand. "The sun's already high in the sky, and you're still sleeping, you big sleepyhead!"
Chen Erbao patted her soft bottom, earning a playful yelp from Lin Zhiqing before he finally got up to wash.
After he was done washing up, Chen Erbao went to the living room and took out the Protective Jade Token he had made last night.
"Here, this is for you."
He walked into the room and handed it to Lin Zhiqing.
Lin Zhiqing was stunned for a moment, but when she saw the Jade Token, her eyes immediately lit up. She took it with both hands and turned it over curiously. "What's this… When did you buy it?"
Chen Erbao chuckled. "Take a closer look. Does the color look familiar?"
Lin Zhiqing gave it a couple of puzzled glances. It did seem familiar. She thought back carefully, then suddenly looked up in surprise. "It looks just like the color of the jade you cut open yesterday!"
"What do you mean, 'looks like'? It *is* the jade from yesterday!"
Chen Erbao poured two glasses of water smugly and walked over to sit on the edge of the bed.
Lin Zhiqing's red lips parted slightly in astonishment. "When did you have someone make this?"
Chen Erbao pointed a thumb at himself and said proudly, "I stayed up all night making it for you. I'm exhausted…"
He yawned as he spoke.
Lin Zhiqing stared at him blankly. After a long moment, she threw herself into Chen Erbao's arms, her voice soft and sweet. "Er Bao, you're too good to me!"
"Silly girl, who else would I be good to? You have to keep this Jade Token on you at all times. Don't ever take it off, not even to shower or sleep, understand?"
Lin Zhiqing looked at the carving of her own face on the other side of the Jade Pendant, and her eyes began to well up.
She nodded emphatically, her voice choked with emotion. "I'll never take it off. I'll wear it for the rest of my life!"
This was the first real gift Chen Erbao had given her, and its meaning was extraordinary.
Chen Erbao ruffled her hair. "I'm so good to you. Quick, call me 'hubby'!"
"Hubby!"
Although Lin Zhiqing was shy, she still managed to say the word.
"Now give me a kiss!"
"MWAH!"
"How about some morning exercise?"
"No!"
"…"
