The Smiling Death

Chapter 554: Introducing His Girlfriend To Others

"Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?"

Selena asked from behind the desk in her Student Council office, looking at Amon with slight exasperation.

Amon scratched the back of his head.

"Well... I’m telling you now. What difference would it have made if I’d told you earlier?"

Selena stared at him silently.

"..."

Then she sighed. "Amon, I’m a princess. Of course my family owns a mansion here in Elarith City."

Amon blinked.

Selena leaned back in her chair.

"I could’ve arranged for Scarlett to stay there. Nobody lives in the mansion permanently except for a few caretakers and servants. Even I only visit occasionally when I get tired of staying in the academy dormitory."

Amon’s eyes widened.

"...Shit."

He immediately realized his mistake.

"I really should’ve told you earlier."

Selena shook her head helplessly.

"It’s still not too late. Contact her and tell her about it."

"Okay!"

Without wasting another second, Amon reached into his storage ring and pulled out his communication crystal.

Mana flowed into the crystal as he contacted Scarlett.

After a brief conversation, Amon handed the crystal to Selena so the two women could speak directly.

Selena explained the situation and invited Scarlett to stay at the Aurellian family’s mansion while she remained in Elarith.

Scarlett accepted after some hesitation and told them she would meet them outside the academy.

Once the connection ended, Selena stood from her chair.

"Let’s go. She should reach the academy gates soon."

Amon nodded enthusiastically. The two left the Student Council office together. As they walked down the corridor, Amon suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, right!"

Selena glanced at him.

"What? I want Scarlett to meet Professor Adelia too."

Selena thought about it briefly.

"You can ask her. It’s currently lunch break, so she should have some free time. Even if she can’t accompany us to the mansion, she can at least come outside and meet Scarlett."

Amon’s face brightened.

"Okay, Senior!"

He immediately changed direction.

"Wait for us outside! I’ll go get Professor Adelia!"

Selena watched him run down the corridor.

"...Why is he so excited?"

She shook her head with an amused smile before continuing toward the academy entrance.

Amon soon arrived at the academy infirmary. Inside, Adelia was organizing several medicines when Amon enthusiastically explained why he had come.

"Your girlfriend is here..."

Adelia paused.

She tucked a few strands of her bright green hair behind her ear and looked at him with obvious curiosity.

"...and you want to introduce me to her?"

"Yes!"

Amon nodded repeatedly.

"Come on! Let’s go!"

Adelia stared at him for a moment before smiling.

"You’re unusually excited today."

"Of course I am."

"Alright, alright."

She placed what she was holding back onto the table.

"Let’s go."

Today Adelia had wore her usual outfit—a blue turtleneck beneath a white laboratory coat, paired with fitted black trousers. Her bright green hair fell neatly around her shoulders, while her yellow eyes carried their usual gentle warmth.

She followed Amon out of the infirmary. As they walked through the academy corridors, Adelia glanced at him.

"When did you return from your mission?"

"This morning."

"This morning?"

Adelia raised an eyebrow.

"You certainly didn’t waste any time before running around the academy."

Amon chuckled.

"Hehe..."

"How was the mission?"

Her expression remained gentle.

"Was it easy?"

Amon’s steps faltered for the briefest moment.

"..."

Images from the previous night flashed through his mind. Alaric’s sword piercing through his body. Purple lightning burning his flesh.

Amon forced an awkward smile.

’Maybe I shouldn’t tell her right now...’

He knew Alistair would almost certainly inform Headmistress Isabel about the attack. The academy needed to know, especially since Seraphina had clearly been targeted. Which meant Adelia would probably hear about it sooner or later anyway.

But right now Amon really didn’t feel like explaining how close he had come to dying.

Especially to Adelia.

’Yeah... I’ll let the Headmistress deal with that.’

Adelia noticed the slight hesitation.

"Amon?"

He immediately smiled.

"Yeah."

"It was pretty easy."

Adelia’s eyes remained fixed on him for another moment.

"...Really?"

"Really."

Amon smiled as innocently as possible.

Adelia didn’t respond immediately.

She simply continued walking beside him.

However, judging by the subtle narrowing of her yellow eyes.

She didn’t seem entirely convinced.

’Damn... women really do have some terrifying intuition.’

Amon thought nervously as he continued walking beside Adelia. Fortunately, she didn’t press him further.

Instead, she asked another question. "Did Scarlett meet you during the mission?"

"Yeah."

Amon nodded. "I’d already told her where we were staying, so she came to Eriye Village yesterday."

"Our actual mission was completed the day before that."

"I see." Adelia’s eyes softened as a teasing smile appeared on her lips. "It must have been nice seeing your lover again after being apart for so long. You must be really happy."

"..."

Amon’s cheeks immediately grew warm.

"Hehe..."

He awkwardly looked away, unable to hide the smile spreading across his face.

Adelia stared at him for a second.

"Pfft—hahaha!" She burst into laughter.

"What’s so funny?!"

Without answering, Adelia raised her hand and playfully pinched his cheek.

"Hehe~ Look at you. You’re acting cute again."

She gently pulled his cheek.

"You’re even blushing."

Amon didn’t resist. He simply allowed her to play with his cheek while internally experiencing two completely different emotions.

’Damn it... this is embarrassing.’ A brief pause. ’...But also kind of amazing.’

Adelia finally released him, still chuckling.

"Professor, you enjoy bullying your students too much."

"Only certain someone."

"That’s even worse."

Their lighthearted conversation continued until they finally reached the academy gates. The two stepped outside together.

Amon immediately noticed two familiar figures waiting near the outer wall. Selena stood there calmly, her posture carrying the natural elegance expected of a princess.

Beside her Scarlett waited silently.

The moment Amon appeared, Scarlett’s eyes naturally moved toward him.

Then they shifted to the woman walking beside him.

Adelia.

Scarlett’s expression barely changed. But her gaze certainly did. Her amethyst eyes carefully studied the light green-haired woman from head to toe.

Especially how comfortably Adelia was talking and laughing with Amon.

Her gaze briefly lowered. To Adelia’s rather prominent chest. They were huge. Since Adelia’s height not too much. They look too sinful.

Then her returned to her beautiful face. Scarlett’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

It wasn’t outright hostility.

But there was definitely a guarded look in her eyes—as though she had just discovered the existence of a potentially dangerous rival.

Amon, completely oblivious to the silent assessment taking place, continued chatting with Adelia.

Soon, they reached the two women. Only then did Adelia properly look at Scarlett. Her eyes widened slightly.

"...Wow."

Scarlett raised an eyebrow.

Adelia turned toward Amon.

"Amon... Your lover really is beautiful."

Amon’s chest practically puffed out with pride.

"Hehe~ Of course she is."

Selena nodded in agreement.

"Professor is right. Scarlett is incredibly beautiful."

She glanced at Amon with amusement.

"Even now, I still can’t believe our Amon somehow managed to win over someone like her."

Scarlett’s eyebrow rose slightly.

Our Amon?

Her eyes briefly moved toward Selena. However she chose not to comment.

Adelia stepped forward and offered Scarlett a polite bow.

"Hello. I’m Adelia Evangeline. Knowing Amon, I’m sure he’s already told you about me."

Amon grinned.

"Of course I have."

Adelia ignored his interruption.

"It’s an honor to meet you, Lady Scarlett."

She was already aware of Scarlett’s identity and background. Addressing a high-ranking noblewoman of House Bloodhart too casually during their first meeting would have been inappropriate.

Scarlett, however, shook her head. "There’s no need to be so formal. You can simply call me Scarlett."

Adelia smiled warmly. "In that case, please call me Adelia as well."

Scarlett nodded.

"Alright, Adelia."

For a brief moment, the two women simply looked at one another.

Scarlett’s expression remained composed.

Adelia’s remained friendly. Meanwhile, Amon stood between them with absolutely no idea what was passing through Scarlett’s mind.

Scarlett eventually turned toward Selena.

"Shall we go?"

"Yes."

Selena nodded.

"But unfortunately, Professor Adelia can’t accompany us right now."

Scarlett looked back at Adelia.

"I see."

She paused briefly before adding,

"I’m glad I was able to meet you, though."

"Likewise. If you’re busy right now..."

Scarlett continued,

"...why don’t you come over this evening? We can have dinner together. I’d like to talk with you properly, Adelia."

Adelia appeared slightly surprised by the invitation.

Scarlett then gestured toward Selena.

"Princess Selena will be joining us as well. I’ve also asked her to invite Amon’s other friends."

Selena smiled.

"It should be fun."

Adelia considered it for a moment before nodding.

"In that case, I’d be happy to come. But for now, I should return to the academy. I still have some work waiting for me."

"Alright."

Scarlett gave her a small nod.

"I’ll see you this evening."

"See you then."

Adelia turned toward Amon.

"Try not to cause any trouble before dinner."

Amon looked offended.

"Professor, why are you specifically telling me that?"

Adelia chuckled.

"Because you’re Amon."

"That’s discrimination." Amon had no idea why she was treating him as though he were some kind of troublemaker. In fact, he was probably the most disciplined student in the entire academy.
