The Supreme Village Doctor

Chapter 100 - 101: Saving a Life

Chapter 100: Chapter 101: Saving a Life

Li Yang felt a chill go through him. ’If a dog that big really mauled a child, the injuries would be severe.’

"Alright, let’s not waste any more words. We’ll all go to the clinic and see what’s what. I happen to be a doctor myself, so maybe I can help."

As soon as he finished speaking, the sturdy man’s phone rang.

"The doctor said they can’t operate here!" the child’s mother cried on the other end of the line. "He told us to go to the county. The ambulance is already on its way. I’m going ahead with our child. You can get a ride over tomorrow morning."

The sturdy man’s face darkened. "You go, hurry! I’ll be right over on my motorcycle."

He hung up, pointed at Xiao Zhen, and rasped, "This isn’t over!"

Xiao Zhen’s face was ashen. She’d never imagined it would be this serious. "I..."

Zhao Xuechu looked grim as well.

"Sir, I’ll drive you there!" Li Yang interjected, changing his plan. "After all, this happened because of us. Let’s go. I’ll take you."

"What about us?" Xiao Zhen asked, worried.

"You’re coming with us," Li Yang said firmly. "You need to front the money for the medical bills."

"Yes, yes, of course!" Xiao Zhen nodded frantically.

The man saw that Li Yang was handling things in a humane way and didn’t know what else to say, though his glare toward Xiao Zhen was still full of hatred. "I’m telling you, this isn’t over. If you people don’t make this right, I’m calling the police."

"Don’t worry. We will absolutely give you a satisfactory resolution," Li Yang said with a wry smile. "Get in the car. We need to get there as soon as possible."

The two vehicles sped off toward the county Renmin Hospital.

When Li Yang and the others arrived, the ambulance had already been there for a while.

"How is she?" the father asked, rushing forward.

"The doctor said it’s serious!" The woman next to him, the mother, could no longer hold back and burst into tears. "WAHH! He said she needs surgery! But he also said the operation will be very difficult, and even if it’s a success, her scars will never fade! What are we going to do?!"

The father’s eyes welled with tears.

Xiao Zhen grew even more distraught. "I... I’ll get the best surgeon to operate on her."

"I’ll go take a look," Li Yang announced.

"What are you doing, messing around?" a doctor inside scolded. "What good is you looking? Get out! We’ll handle this."

"Doctor, I’m a doctor as well," Li Yang said earnestly. "I’m a village doctor."

The doctor let out an exasperated laugh.

"If you don’t believe me, ask your Director Jin," Li Yang said, knowing he had to drop the name. "He even wants to take me as his master."

"What the hell!" The doctor was already agitated by the child’s wounds, and Li Yang’s comment made him furious. Just as he was about to blow up, he saw Director Jin hurrying over.

"Master!" Director Jin exclaimed in pleasant surprise when he saw Li Yang.

The doctor was dumbfounded.

Zhao Xuechu and Xiao Zhen were stunned as well.

Li Yang spread his hands. "Alright, enough idle talk. She needs surgery, right? I’ll handle the initial treatment. You all can just wait outside."

"I..." The doctor was still hesitant to step aside.

"Get out! Get out!" Director Jin said irritably. "You’re nothing in front of my master! Hurry up and get out here, don’t make a fool of yourself."

The doctor emerged, looking embarrassed.

"Sir, Ma’am, don’t you worry," Li Yang said to the parents as he entered the room. "I’ll make sure your daughter is just like she was before."

The father nodded nonstop, unable to speak.

Li Yang gave Zhao Xuechu a nod before going inside.

"Xuechu, can he... Can he really do this?" Xiao Zhen asked, still dazed. "Isn’t he just a village doctor? Is he capable of this kind of surgery?"

Zhao Xuechu recalled the first time she met Li Yang, and a glimmer of hope sparked within her. "He... I don’t know for sure, but he really can heal people. Otherwise, why would my medicinal meals be so effective?"

Xiao Zhen found it hard to believe, but at the same time, she prayed that Li Yang could fix this. ’Otherwise, what will I do?’

Li Yang entered the room and was startled by the extent of the little girl’s injuries.

Her entire body was covered in countless bite marks, and in many places, the flesh had been torn open.

’It makes sense,’ he thought. ’She’s just a little girl, probably not even as tall as that dog.’

Li Yang knew that assigning blame was useless. The only thing to do now was treat her and make her more comfortable.

"It’s alright..." Li Yang said gently to the little girl. "Uncle is going to treat your wounds now."

Though her eyes were still filled with tears, the little girl nodded obediently when she heard his voice.

Li Yang used the Jinmen Acupuncture Technique to clear the meridians throughout the little girl’s body.

’These wounds aren’t the main issue,’ Li Yang thought. ’There are vaccines for dog bites, and flesh will grow back.’

’The real problem is the scarring.’

’With this many wounds, it would be nearly impossible for her skin to heal without a trace.’

After a moment’s thought, Li Yang called Su Yunmeng.

Even though it was the middle of the night, Su Yunmeng answered quickly.

"Sister Su, I need to ask you something. That little yellow flower I gave you—have you made any progress with it?"

"We have!" Su Yunmeng said, her voice full of excitement. "We just finished creating a few bottles of a concentrate. We’ve already run tests, and it’s incredibly effective. We’re currently working on finding the optimal dilution solution. If we’re successful, we can create a fixed standard and start mass production."

"I need one of those bottles right now. Can you have one sent over to me? I’m at Renmin Hospital. It’s urgent!" Li Yang said.

"Okay!"
