Chapter 66 - 67: Scumbag Li Yang

Chapter 66: Chapter 67: Scumbag Li Yang

"Is there something special about the source of these recipes?" Li Yang couldn’t help but ask curiously.

Zhao Xuechu shook his head. "I can’t tell you any more than that. But I can tell you this: no matter what, these medicinal dish recipes would never make someone sick."

Li Yang shrugged. "If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do," he said helplessly. "But I can see what their effects will be. What you choose to think is your own business."

Zhao Xuechu hesitated. He had seen what Li Yang was capable of.

"If you insist on using these recipes, I’m pulling my stake," Li Yang said seriously. "These recipes are harmful. I will have no part in this."

Zhao Xuechu was stunned. Only then did he start taking this seriously.

"Then what do we do now?" Zhao Xuechu was at a loss.

"Simple!" Li Yang said with a smile. "I’ll revise the recipes. As long as you follow my versions, everything will be fine!"

Zhao Xuechu nodded. "Alright, then. We’ll do it your way. You fix them, and I’ll use your recipes."

"Now you’re talking!" Li Yang let out a sigh of relief.

If Zhao Xuechu had stubbornly insisted on his course, their partnership would have been over before it began.

Li Yang’s pen flew across the pages. He barely had to think as he looked over the medicinal dish recipes, altering them on the spot.

Some recipes only needed an ingredient or two changed, or perhaps just an adjustment in measurements. Others, however, were completely scrapped and rewritten from scratch.

He worked like this for over half an hour before finally setting down his pen.

Dozens of recipes, all finished in just over half an hour.

If he hadn’t already witnessed Li Yang’s incredible skill in this area, Zhao Xuechu would have thought the guy was just scribbling nonsense.

"Alright!" Li Yang nodded. "I’ve finished revising all the recipes you gave me. Now, here are some of my own. I’ve written down their uses, so you can take a look. And one more thing, the most important thing: I don’t want anyone changing the recipes I’ve written. Medicinal dishes still contain medicinal ingredients. If you mess around with them, you could actually kill someone."

"Okay, I understand!" Zhao Xuechu breathed a sigh of relief.

"When is the grand opening?" Li Yang asked curiously.

"There’s still one unresolved issue: the ingredients!" Zhao Xuechu said, looking troubled. "I haven’t been able to find suitable raw materials. For example, the chicken for the medicinal dishes, and the duck... it’s not easy. Oh, right, and fish, too!"

"Are your standards high?" Li Yang asked.

"If it were just regular stock, I could find it anywhere. The good stuff is hard to find," Zhao Xuechu said, looking troubled.

"Hey, I might just have what you’re looking for!" Li Yang’s eyes lit up.

"Really?" Zhao Xuechu looked at Li Yang. "You have chickens to sell?"

"Xue Chu, Xue Chu, I found you some great chickens!" Just then, the door was shoved open unceremoniously, and a beautiful woman came skipping inside.

She looked to be about twenty-four or twenty-five, dressed in red, and had a very lively air about her.

"Oh, you have a guest," the newcomer said in surprise when she saw Li Yang.

"Let me introduce you. This is my business partner, Mr. Li Yang. And this is my good friend, Xiao Zhen," Zhao Xuechu made the introductions.

"So this is the guy you said is such an expert on medicinal dishes!" Xiao Zhen tutted as she stepped forward, sizing Li Yang up without a hint of shyness. "He’s so young. Are you sure you haven’t been scammed? You even gave him a forty percent stake. I’m telling you, Xue Chu, I feel like you’ve been duped by a player!"

"Excuse me, sis, have I ever played you?" Li Yang was speechless.

’Don’t just say whatever you want just because you’re pretty!’

"Hey, you’ve got some nerve, kid!" Xiao Zhen glared at Li Yang. "Who’s your ’sis’? Don’t go calling people whatever you want."

"Grandma!" Li Yang retorted.

"What the—!" Xiao Zhen stamped her foot. "Say that again!"

Li Yang couldn’t be bothered with her and turned to Zhao Xuechu. "So, want to come to my place and have a look? I guarantee I have some high-quality chickens for you."

"Alright!" Zhao Xuechu nodded. It was part of Li Yang’s business, after all. He figured Li Yang wouldn’t try to trick him.

"Xue Chu, you’re actually going with him to look at chickens? I’m telling you, I’ve already found some perfectly good chickens for you! Really! Trust me, don’t trust this player!" Xiao Zhen whispered insistently in his ear.

Li Yang was speechless once again.

’How did I become a "player"? I’m still a virgin, for crying out loud.’

’Could this be any more unfair?!’

"Zhenzhen, let’s go have a look first before we decide," Zhao Xuechu said, amused. ’Li Yang has such a spirited personality; perhaps someone like Xiao Zhen is the only one who could be his match.’

"Mr. Li is my shareholder, too. He wouldn’t harm me."

"Tch!" Xiao Zhen looked Li Yang up and down. "You can’t be so sure. He’s a player, after all..."

Li Yang’s mouth twitched. ’You little brat. Just wait until I get a chance to teach you a lesson.’

"Fine, let’s go! I bet they’re just some ordinary stock anyway. The ones I found are top-quality, free-range mountain chickens! If you pair those with your recipes, it’ll be a match made in heaven," Xiao Zhen said cheerfully.

But at that moment, Li Yang glanced at her and nodded. "When we get back, I’ll write a recipe for you. You could use a medicinal dish yourself."

"What the hell do you know?" Xiao Zhen said scornfully. "Go on, tell me, what kind of medicinal dish does a lady like me need? I’ll have you know, I get a check-up every six months, and all my results are perfect."

"You need a recipe to clear up that bad temper!" Li Yang said with a completely straight face. "You... have way too much inner fire!"
