Chapter 84: Chapter 85: Dangerous Dog

"Not a chance!" Zhou Zong said at once. "He’d never bite anyone else. He does whatever I tell him. Tell you what, why don’t I give him to you?"

"Something’s off about this dog." Li Yang frowned. He could feel a dangerous aura coming from the animal. He said to Shen Xu, "Don’t take it. This dog is vicious."

Shen Xu nodded.

"Damn it, mind your own fucking business!" Zhou Zong had been polite to Shen Xu, but he had no such patience for Li Yang. He slammed his hand on the table and roared, "Shut your mouth."

Li Yang’s brow furrowed. "Where did you get this dog?"

"Could you even afford it?" Zhou Zong said with contempt. "This dog alone cost me fifty-eight thousand. A poor bastard like you could never afford it."

Li Yang had intended to kindly warn him that the dog wasn’t normal, but after hearing that, even his good temper was wearing thin. He gave a dry chuckle. "Fifty-eight thousand for a dog that won’t even listen to you? What’s the damn point?"

"Disobedient?" Zhou Zong spat. "You don’t know shit! He does whatever I tell him to!"

As he spoke, Zhou Zong stood up. With a sudden, sinister grin, he let go of the leash and pointed at Li Yang. "Get him!"

"Zhou Zong!" Shen Xu cried out, startled. "What are you doing?!"

The moment it was free, the large wolfdog charged at Li Yang. It opened its gaping jaws, ready to bite down.

Li Yang was taken aback, but his shock quickly turned to fury. ’This guy has some nerve, actually siccing a wolfdog on me.’

He was furious. As the wolfdog lunged, he lashed out with a kick.

BAM!

The wolfdog went flying backward, tumbling across the floor several times before scrambling back to its feet, its eyes now bloodshot with rage.

"Damn it, kill him!" Zhou Zong roared, even more enraged.

"Are you insane?!" Shen Xu immediately moved to grab a chair to help Li Yang.

In that moment, she had completely forgotten that Li Yang had a special knack for handling dogs.

A murderous glint appeared in Li Yang’s eyes.

Zhou Zong had no regard for human life. Against an ordinary person, this dog could have easily been lethal.

So, facing the dog, Li Yang locked his gaze onto it.

"AHH!" Zhou Zong screamed as the dog’s immense strength pulled him down in an instant. "You crazy dog! Have you lost your mind?! Get him, not me! Get him! Shen Xu, help me!"

Zhou Zong desperately beat at the wolfdog, but it refused to release its grip.

It had sunk its teeth deep into Zhou Zong’s calf, and blood was streaming from the wound.

Everyone in the restaurant was stunned, wondering why the dog had suddenly gone berserk. But more than a few were secretly pleased. ’That’s what you get for being so arrogant with such a huge dog. Now you see what happens.’

Shen Xu finally snapped out of it. She shot a quick glance at Li Yang before grabbing a chair and slamming it down on the wolfdog’s back.

The wolfdog yelped in pain, collapsed to the floor, and passed out.

"Are you okay?" Shen Xu rushed forward to check on him.

"Ahh..." Zhou Zong’s calf was covered in deep fang marks. If Shen Xu had been even a moment later, the wolfdog might have torn a chunk of flesh right off. That would have been a disaster.

"Kill it... Kill it now!"

"You need to get to a hospital, now!" Shen Xu turned and glanced at Li Yang. She looked like she wanted to say something, but ultimately held her tongue and made a call instead.

"See? I told you that dog doesn’t listen to you," Li Yang said with a chuckle.

Zhou Zong, burning with humiliation and rage, snarled, "Don’t you get smug. Just you wait."

A corner of Li Yang’s mouth twitched. ’Idiot.’

After finishing her call, Shen Xu pulled Li Yang aside. "Was that you?"

When she saw the wolfdog attacking Li Yang, she’d forgotten about his incredible skill with dogs. Only now did it come back to her.

"Officer Shen, you can’t just make accusations like that," Li Yang denied, his expression serious. "I can’t afford to take the blame for something like this."

"I know it was you. No one else has that kind of ability!" Shen Xu said earnestly. "I’m only saying this to warn you. Don’t use this method again. I wasn’t the only one who saw you stop those dogs the other day. Even if I can look the other way, what about everyone else?"

Li Yang froze for a second, then he understood. A warmth spread through his chest. He replied, a little exasperated, "That son of a bitch cursed me out and sicced his dog on me. You expected me to just take it?"

Shen Xu gave a wry smile and said helplessly, "All right. Looks like our meal is ruined. With a bite like that, I have to take him to the hospital to get it treated."

The two of them went back inside. The ambulance had already arrived, and paramedics were loading Zhou Zong onto a stretcher.

"What about the dog?" Li Yang asked Shen Xu as he saw them all getting ready to leave.

"I don’t have time to deal with a dog like this right now. Besides, it’s vicious, and I don’t want anything to do with it. Why don’t you take it home for now? You’re better at handling them, anyway." With that, Shen Xu turned and left.
