Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Tender Solace

Dominic Vance watched the stammering person before him, his face darkening even further. He stepped forward and grabbed Lucien by the wrist without another word. The movement was rather decisive, but it forced Lucien’s arm to stretch out tautly, causing the young man so much pain that his eyes brimmed with tears as he let out a sharp hiss.

The man frowned deeply and rolled up the sleeve of Lucien’s shirt.

Even though Lucien had haphazardly wrapped his arm in gauze, he had been clumsy enough to wrap it too thinly, allowing blood to soak entirely through the bandages. A wound like this should not have bled so profusely, but just as 000 had said, this body was currently being rejected by the world, meaning even the slightest injury would become significantly more severe.

As for Dominic Vance, his expression turned incredibly ugly the moment he saw the injury on the arm. A corner of the gauze had peeled back, revealing long, jagged, and swollen scratch marks intermingled with dark bruises around the wrist. Under the warm yellow light, fresh blood still oozed from the torn skin before it could dry, looking simultaneously pathetic and agonizing.

Dominic Vance stared at the wound in dead silence for a very long time. The hand gripping Lucien’s wrist tightened fractionally before immediately loosening, as if he were terrified of causing further pain. He drew in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, his chest heaving as if he were suppressing something absolutely massive inside.

"Are you stupid? Someone throws coffee at you and you do not even know how to fight back, and now you let them scratch you up like this?"

Lucien kept his head bowed, his eyelashes trembling like butterfly wings: "I just was not careful, that is all... When I went out to buy some things earlier, I accidentally ran into Hannah. She spilled coffee on me, and then... and then I accidentally hurt myself while cleaning it up..."

"Look up at me."

Lucien slowly raised his head, his shimmering eyes pooling with unshed tears, yet he still managed to force a reassuring smile: "It really is nothing, just a minor scratch..."

"I already told you, I am not stupid. Do you honestly think I cannot tell these are scratch marks?" Dominic Vance cut him off, his voice remaining low and deep, though it trembled slightly with suppressed anger. He gripped the young man’s chin, gently turning Lucien’s face toward him, forcing Lucien to look directly into his eyes: "She did this, did she not?"

A solitary tear slipped from the corner of Lucien’s eye and fell onto the back of Dominic’s hand. Lucien pressed his lips together, his voice growing fainter as if consumed by fear: "I... I just did not want to make a big deal out of it. She is an idol with a massive fanbase. If people found out she scratched me, it would ruin her public image, and it might even negatively impact your corporation... I am fine, I truly am..."

"Fine?" Dominic Vance released his hold on the chin but maintained a firm grip on the injured arm, his voice rising in pitch despite his best efforts to stay composed: "Your arm is bleeding like this, your entire body is trembling, and your eyes are bloodshot, yet you stand there and tell me you are fine? How long were you planning to hide this from me? Or do you think I am simply unworthy of knowing?"

"That is not it at all!" Lucien hastily shook his head as the tears began to fall faster and heavier: "I merely... I did not want to be a burden to you. You are already so overwhelmed with work, I did not want to cause you any additional worry over such trivial matters. Besides... I was scared."

"Scared of what?"

Lucien lowered his head once more, his voice dropping to a whisper as soft as a mosquito’s hum: "I was scared... that if I told you, you would find me annoying. I was terrified you would think I am weak, that I am unworthy of standing by your side. I... I did not even know if I had the right to ask for your protection."

The moment those words left his lips, Dominic Vance fell into a sudden silence. He stared at Lucien, his gaze swirling with emotions so complex that not even he could put a name to them. Then, the man let out a long, shuddering sigh. The hand grasping the injured arm gently released its hold, but not to push away; instead, it slid around the young man’s back, pulling Lucien firmly into his embrace.

Caught off guard by the sudden embrace, Lucien found his face pressed against a firm, muscular chest, listening to the heavy, frantic pounding of Dominic’s heart, beating far faster than usual.

"Listen to me, and listen well." Dominic Vance’s voice resonated from right above: "You are Lucien Sinclair, the official fiancé of Dominic Vance. That title is not an empty vanity, nor is it something for others to mock and humiliate. You have every right to be protected, every right to voice the suffering you endure, and every right to demand that I do whatever you wish. Do you understand?"

Lucien trembled within the man’s embrace, his slender fingers clutching desperately at the fabric of Dominic’s shirt as he choked out a sob: "But I... I am not worthy..."

"Who said you are not worthy?" Dominic Vance lowered his head, pressing a feather-light kiss to the top of Lucien’s hair, his tone suddenly growing impossibly hoarse and tender: "The only person in this world who has the right to decide whether you are worthy or not is me. And I have never once believed you were unworthy. Never."

Lucien remained quiet for a long while before burying his face even deeper into the broad chest, his shoulders shaking with silent sobs. This time, he genuinely was not sure if he was just acting anymore.

Dominic Vance simply let him cry like that for a while before gently pushing him back just enough to wipe away the trailing tears on his cheeks with a broad thumb: "Sit down. Let me take a look at your wound."

He guided Lucien to sit on the sofa before walking over to fetch the first aid kit himself. Upon returning, he dropped to one knee before the young man, opened the medical box, and began meticulously cleaning the injury. The moment the alcohol-soaked cotton swab touched the raw scratches, Lucien shivered involuntarily, letting out a soft, breathy whimper: "It hurts..."

"You know it hurts, yet you still let them claw at you," Dominic Vance grumbled, though his hands became even more incredibly gentle. He carefully applied soothing ointment over each individual scratch, then took a fresh roll of gauze and wrapped it around the forearm layer by layer, as meticulous as if he were wrapping something utterly precious. "From this moment on, no matter what happens, you must tell me. You are not allowed to hide things, and you are not allowed to bear it all on your own. Do you hear me?"

"Yes..." Lucien murmured in response, his eyes still red and swollen.

After finishing the bandaging, Dominic Vance did not stand up right away. He remained kneeling on one knee, gazing deeply into Lucien’s eyes, before suddenly leaning down and pressing a remarkably soft kiss against the back of the newly bandaged hand.

"You..."

Before Lucien could finish his sentence, Dominic Vance stood up, pulling Lucien up with him, and swooped down to capture his lips.

The kiss began unexpectedly, yet it was not violent. Dominic kissed him incredibly slowly, profoundly deeply, as if wanting to use this very kiss to convey every single word his tongue refused to speak. His tongue pried open Lucien’s teeth, tangling intimately with the soft, trembling tongue within. The salty tang of lingering tears mingled with their shared breath, rendering the kiss both salty and thoroughly overflowing with raw desire.

Lucien was pushed back onto the sofa, his hair scattering in a messy halo across the cool leather cushions. Dominic Vance hovered over his body, bracing one arm beside him to avoid pressing down on the injured limb, while his free hand deftly unfastened the shirt buttons one by one. Scorching kisses were peppered down the slender, graceful neck, trailing all the way to the fragile collarbones, leaving behind a path of rosy red marks that blossomed like newly bloomed cherry petals.

"Do not move your arm," Dominic whispered into his ear, his voice entirely husky with lust. He delicately placed Lucien’s injured arm onto the backrest of the sofa, then slipped his hand beneath the small of his back, smoothly sliding the fabric trousers and thin underwear down and away from those long, slender legs.

Flawless, milky-white skin was exposed beneath the warm orange-yellow light, radiating a faint, sweet fragrance of shower gel. Dominic leaned in lower, pressing his face against the tender inner thigh, his scalding breath fanning across the highly sensitive skin, sending violent tremors coursing through Lucien’s body.

"Ah... mm..."

The words had barely escaped before morphing into a choked moan, as Dominic’s hand firmly wrapped around his already stiffened manhood. His thumb rubbed teasingly against the slick, weeping tip, while his remaining fingers stroked rhythmically up and down the length of the shaft. The man’s movements were so incredibly masterful that Lucien felt his entire mind spinning out of control.

"Slower... please, just a little slower..."
