Chapter 152: Chapter 152: The Office Predator

Lucien glanced at the phone. At first, he did not pay much attention to it, and it was not until he saw the sender’s name and the content of the message that he froze. He stared at the text for a moment, then suddenly let out a soft chuckle, unexpectedly feeling a surge of excitement. Come to think of it, this could be considered Damian taking the initiative to call him back at such a late hour, couldn’t it?

Lucien did not believe that, at this time of night, the man only intended to call him back just so the two of them could discuss work. Just as Lucien was still feeling delighted, 000 hastily popped out. Looking at its demeanor, for some reason Lucien felt absolutely certain that it had come to cause trouble for him again. Naturally, his guess was not wrong in the slightest.

[Hehe host, I have good news for you here.]

"Hmm?"

[Noting that your mission completion speed is excellent, in order to accelerate the progress so that we can quickly escape this world, a random mission will be triggered.]

"Tell me, exactly which part of that is supposed to be good news?"

[Well, the faster the missions are pushed, the sooner you will complete the overall task and move on to the next world.]

"Oh."

Lucien’s appearance clearly showed that he did not have the slightest bit of expectation or enthusiasm regarding this newly emerged mission. But 000 also turned a blind eye to it. This time, since Lucien arrived in this world, his activation of the 18+ mission chains was far too slow. Without the vital essence of the world’s male lead to supplement it, its system did not have enough energy to develop.

Therefore, it could only seize the opportunity to push more missions and quickly reach the final step.

[Mission Name: Predator in the Office.]

[Description: The host is about to have a private meeting with the target, Damian Thorne, in the evening. This is a golden opportunity to advance the intimacy progress. Do not waste it!]

[Main Objective: Within 90 minutes, create at least three situations of intentional "physical contact" with the target. The contacts must occur "naturally" and last for at least 5 seconds each time. Outdated tricks like pretending to trip and fall are strictly prohibited!]

[Rewards: 80 bonding points, 40 intimacy points, and one item from the "R18 Store" - "Advanced Support Tools" category.]

[Penalty for Failure: Within the next 48 hours, whenever the host tells a lie, the body will automatically let out an uncontrollable, soft moan. The volume will be loud enough for the person opposite to hear.]

Lucien nearly choked on his own saliva. A moan? Whenever he lied? He imagined the scene of going to work tomorrow. If Ethan asked, "Are you doing well?", and he replied, "I am doing well," only for his body to naturally let out a highly suggestive "Nnh...", the man would probably think he was having a seizure.

"Are you crazy? I am a man! What the hell is a moan?"

[Well, there you go, the system is being very fair. If you do not want to moan, then complete the mission.] 000 replied, its voice as innocent as always, and then it vanished without a sound, completely ignoring however much Lucien cursed it out in his head.

"Bastard," Lucien cursed under his breath, his hand pressing the power button of his phone so hard that he nearly cracked the screen. So tonight was no longer just a simple work discussion, but a stage where he was forced to become the lead actor.

The afternoon passed in extreme tension. Lucien tried his best to act normal, but his mind was spinning with all sorts of schemes. How was he supposed to create three instances of physical contact in a natural manner? He glanced at Ethan from afar. After the shock from this morning, this man had become terrifyingly quiet, his eyes occasionally flashing with calculating glints. But right now, Lucien did not have the time to worry about him anymore. The battle right before his eyes was the thing that required his full effort to deal with.

At six in the evening, the office gradually emptied out. The final footsteps of his colleagues faded away behind the elevator doors. Lucien took a deep breath, stood up, and adjusted the creases of his dress shirt. He deliberately unbuttoned one more button at the top, revealing a faint, alluring glimpse of his collarbone. He walked toward the General Manager’s office, the source of the only dim yellow light still flickering on the entire floor. The whole corridor was bathed in darkness; there was only the sound of his leather shoes clicking against the marble floor, echoing and solitary.

The heavy wooden door was left slightly ajar. Lucien knocked softly twice, then pushed the door and stepped inside.

Damian was not sitting at his imposing desk as usual. He was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, his back turned to the door, his hands tucked into his trouser pockets. The expensive suit perfectly hugged his broad back and long legs. The entire city lighting up behind him acted as a luxurious backdrop, further accentuating the solitary yet immensely powerful aura radiating from this man. On the desk, a bottle of whiskey was already a third empty, and beside it sat two glass tumblers, one of which was empty.

"Come in." Damian’s voice was deeper and huskier than usual, as if he had already drank quite a bit. He did not turn around, only tilting his head slightly. "Have a seat."

Lucien stepped inside, but he did not sit down in the chair opposite the desk as he usually did. Instead, he walked straight over to Damian’s side, standing at a distance just close enough to feel the warmth radiating from the man’s body, while still maintaining a polite facade. He bowed his head slightly, his voice gentle:

"Boss, for what matter did you call me here?"

Damian finally turned around. Under the dim light, his smoky gray eyes darkened, plunging as deep as a bottomless abyss. He did not answer immediately, but merely stared intently at Lucien. That gaze slowly swept from his face, down to his loosened collar, before stopping at the suggestively exposed collarbone. Lucien clearly saw the man’s Adam’s apple bob slightly.

He reached out to grab the glass of liquor on the desk, took a sip, and then spoke slowly, his voice steady yet carrying an invisible pressure:

"Lucien Sinclair. How long have you been working here?"

"Yes, it has been nearly four months," Lucien answered, his mind still turning over ways to execute the mission.

"Four months," Damian repeated, then suddenly took a step forward, shortening the distance between the two of them to merely half an arm’s length. The strong scent of whiskey, intertwined with his signature cedarwood fragrance, rushed over to envelop Lucien. "Four months is a long enough time for me to realize... that you are not an ordinary intern."

Lucien’s heart skipped a heavy beat. It was not out of fear, but rather because he knew the moment he had been waiting for had finally arrived. He looked up at Damian, deliberately revealing a hint of feigned fluster, his voice trembling just the right amount:

"I... I do not understand what you mean, boss."

"Do not understand?" Damian chuckled softly, a half-smile brimming with danger. He raised his right hand, his index finger gently brushing over the faint bruise on Lucien’s arm, the exact spot where Ethan had gripped him earlier. That touch was simultaneously gentle and possessive, making the skin and flesh there feel as if they were burning. "From the concept, to the way you drove Ethan mad, all the way to how you always appear at the perfect moment right in front of me... everything has been calculated."

[Mission update: The first physical contact has been successfully recorded. There are two more remaining. Keep up the good work!] 000’s voice echoed within Lucien’s mind, brimming with unrestrained excitement. Lucien nearly jumped out of his skin in surprise. Wait a minute, did that fleeting touch actually count? He had not even had the time to initiate anything yet! However, this unexpected development was certainly a stroke of good fortune, saving him from having to thoroughly wrack his brain for yet another elaborate scheme. He continued to maintain his fragile and vulnerable exterior, while deep down, his mind was already actively calculating the optimal approach for the upcoming physical encounters. "What exactly do you mean by that, boss?" Lucien asked, his voice deliberately modulated to feign a sense of profound hurt and innocence. "I merely wish to perform my job to the best of my abilities." Damian offered no immediate response, choosing instead to slowly lean down. His face drew so agonizingly close that Lucien could distinctly feel the man’s searingly hot breath fanning across his own cheek. Damian whispered, his voice dangerously low and utterly bewitching: "What exactly is it that you want from me? Is it truly the pure affection and adoration that you have so openly expressed, Lucien Sinclair?"
