Chapter 53: Chapter 53: A Pitiful Facade

The dim glow from the phone screen became the most piercing source of stimulation in the darkness of the room. Because of this, Dominic Vance could easily see the name "Miles" flashing on that display.

After all, the distance from where the man sat to where Lucien had placed the phone was not far, yet at this moment, Dominic showed no extreme reaction toward the person calling.

Dominic sat between Lucien’s legs, one arm wrapped around the youth’s waist to prevent him from losing his balance, while his other hand slowly and evenly applied a layer of cool ointment onto the inner side of Lucien’s thigh.

This posture was highly ambiguous, especially when the man lowered his head. His breath brushed against the tender skin of the thigh, causing another patch of Lucien’s skin to flush a deep pink. The sensitive sensation lingered, sending waves of numbness cascading down Lucien’s spine.

However, the ringing of the phone was far too piercing. It was obvious that Lucien could also see who was calling. At this time, Dominic still had his head lowered, continuing to apply the medication for the youth.

Consequently, the corners of Lucien’s lips twitched slightly upward. If it had been the original owner of this body, seeing Miles frantically calling their phone like this would have undoubtedly caused immense panic.

But the current Lucien felt none of that. In fact, a fleeting thought crossed his mind... His opportunity had finally arrived.

The phone continued to vibrate relentlessly against the surface of the cabinet.

Lucien cast his eyes downward for a brief glance, his fingertips twitching slightly as if wanting to reach for the device. Yet, just as he was about to touch the phone, he slowly pulled his hand back.

It looked exactly as though he was engaged in a tearing internal struggle. Right at this moment, Dominic raised his head. The man saw the youth twisting both of his hands together, seemingly at a complete loss on how to handle the situation.

Lucien was also looking down, and thus, he met Dominic’s gaze.

The distance between the two of them was far too close, so close that Lucien could clearly discern the undissipated lust swirling within the pitch-black depths of the man’s eyes.

He pressed his lips together, his eyelashes trembling slightly, and spoke in a hushed voice, "Perhaps... Miles has misunderstood."

The fingers that Dominic had wrapped around the youth’s waist instantly tightened their grip.

Lucien acted as if he did not notice this shift in demeanor. Instead, he very cooperatively lowered his head and offered an explanation on behalf of Miles Sinclair, "His friend saw us at the shopping mall today... he is probably worried right now."

Speaking up to this point, he paused for a brief moment.

Then, he lowered his voice even further, "If I do not answer the call, he might start overthinking."

As Lucien spoke, he continued to twist his fingers together. He kept his head bowed, not out of any sense of grievance, but rather because he was desperately trying to stop the corners of his mouth from curling upward.

No wonder people enjoyed acting like a manipulative green tea so much. Pretending to be pitiful and innocent while actually being the root cause of all the chaos was truly an exhilarating feeling.

"What right does he have to be worried." Dominic’s voice turned remarkably cold, clearly displeased to hear Lucien speak in such a manner.

The rims of the youth’s eyes instantly flushed a bright red, "But... but it is my fault. You were originally his fiancé. I..."

This specific type of obedient and pitiful youth could sometimes greatly stimulate a man’s darkest desires. Lucien did not know about other people, but this crazy-blooded man named Dominic Vance absolutely loved it.

It was not because the man felt any genuine love or heartache. He was simply deranged, meaning the more he looked at Lucien’s soft and vulnerable state right now, the more he wanted to severely bully the youth, pin him down beneath his body, and force him to sob uncontrollably.

Sure enough, the man suddenly lunged forward and snatched Lucien’s phone. The piercing ringtone that had been echoing for a while finally fell silent. It seemed that Dominic did not just reject the call; he powered off the device completely.

His actions were so decisive that they left no room for anyone else to react. Lucien blinked at the man, revealing a hint of fluster at the absolute perfect moment, "What are you doing..."

Dominic tossed the phone to the side.

"Why do you care about that person? I already told you, this position belonged to you in the first place. He snatched your place, gloated while watching you get trampled into the dirt, and did he ever feel guilty? Now that you are simply taking back what is yours, you are the one feeling guilty?"

As he spoke, the man forcefully pulled the youth’s waist. Lucien lost his balance, his entire body falling directly into the man’s broad chest. Dominic took advantage of the momentum to embrace him, forcing the youth to sit securely on his lap.

In the blink of an eye, their positions were completely reversed.

This time, it shifted to Lucien being completely trapped within the man’s strong arms. Dominic lifted the youth’s chin, forcing him to look directly into his eyes.

"I already told you, why pay any attention to him?"

For some inexplicable reason, Lucien could detect a trace of profound frustration in the man’s words. Meeting that pitch-black gaze, Lucien felt a strong urge to laugh in his heart.

The man looked a bit like a lunatic right now, but this was exactly what the youth wanted.

Whether it was because the man was genuinely insane or possessed a twisted, abnormal psychology, as long as he reacted with displeasure whenever the youth paid attention to someone else, it was perfect.

Lucien thoroughly understood this type of person like Dominic. The more aloof and superior they were, the more accustomed they were to holding the power of life and death, the more terrifying their possessive desires would become.

Once he got used to it, the man would sink deeply into the feeling that Lucien was naturally an item belonging solely in his pocket. The deeper he sank, the easier he would be to manipulate.

Lucien lowered his eyes, very skillfully dodging the core issue, "Regardless, he and I have lived together for many years..."

"So you feel heartache for him?"

"I do not."

Lucien denied it instantly.

Too fast.

So incredibly fast that it seemed as though he was terrified of being misunderstood.

As expected, the man’s expression softened considerably.

Seeing that reaction, Lucien secretly curled his lips in his mind.

Truly so easy to coax.

He spoke in a gentle tone, "I just do not want you to get into a conflict with the Sinclair family because of me."

"I know that commercial marriages are entirely rooted in mutual benefits. Father does not like me, and if you choose me, the Sinclair family..."

"What do you think that Sinclair family can actually do to me?" Dominic pinched Lucien’s cheek. Unfortunately, the youth was quite thin, so it did not provide the soft, fleshy sensation against the cheek that the man desired. Consequently, he furrowed his brows, "You are overestimating your family far too much, Lucien Sinclair. It is the people of your Sinclair family who need me. If I wanted to find someone for a marriage alliance, who could I not get?"

"Yes." Lucien pressed his lips together and replied with an incredibly soft murmur, shrinking his head down once again, "I am sorry..."

Suddenly, Dominic realized that he seemed to have just said the wrong thing. As a result, he became visibly flustered, "Hey, about that, I did not mean to imply that you are cheap..."

Right, doubling down on the emotional damage.

Lucien thought to himself that it was incredibly fortunate he was merely a character here to complete a mission. If he had been the original Lucien, he would probably have ended his own life on the spot.

With a mouth like this, no wonder the heavens cursed him with erectile dysfunction!

[It is because his physiological needs are too strong and cannot find release.] 000 suddenly appeared: [How could it be erectile dysfunction?]

"Let me tell you, premature ejaculation is not the only form of dysfunction. Taking too long and being completely unable to finish are also physiological diseases."

[Wow, back then you were always either bedridden or sitting in a wheelchair, yet your knowledge is surprisingly profound.]

"Screw you!"

This system and that damn Dominic Vance were exactly the same. With mouths like theirs, they truly deserved to face a firing squad!

Seeing Lucien keep his head bowed in deep silence, appearing immensely wronged, Dominic did not know what to do either. Naturally, the man also realized that the words he had just used to coax the youth seemed to have twisted the knife even deeper.

"I... I am sorry..."

The man actually stumbled as he forced out an apology, causing Lucien to lift his head in genuine surprise. Seeing the youth’s red-rimmed eyes brimming with unshed tears, Dominic found himself entirely at a loss for what to do.

He lowered his head and pressed a kiss against the corner of Lucien’s lips. The kiss this time was incredibly gentle, far gentler than any kiss the youth had ever experienced before. Their lips and tongues intertwined in a deeply intimate exchange, and the wet sounds of their mingled saliva were enough to make anyone flush bright red from head to toe.

The hand resting on Lucien’s hip also began to stroke instinctively, as if merely touching the youth was enough to bring the man immense satisfaction. Lucien was kissed until it became hard to breathe, his fingertips subconsciously gripping the fabric of the man’s dress shirt.

And this tiny movement only caused the look in Dominic’s eyes to burn with a scorching heat.

He loved the feeling of the youth relying on him. Just looking at Lucien turning into a soft puddle in his arms was enough to make Dominic harden down below.

Meanwhile, Lucien continued to sit very obediently in the man’s lap, acting as though he was completely oblivious to those dangerous thoughts.

Only the corners of his lips curved upward of smiles.
