Although the Skeleton Warriors were burdened with large quantities of supplies that made their advance somewhat clumsy, Gu Su urged them onward at full speed. The entire troop maintained a tight pace, successfully returning to the Graveyard Demon in just half an hour.

The moment he stepped inside the Graveyard Demon, Gu Su’s gaze swept across his surroundings, and he immediately spotted the heavily injured Bone Ash.

It was sitting all alone in front of the great grave’s number one pit. Its skeletal frame was damaged in multiple places, the seams between its bones still bore the marks of battle, and its aura was incredibly faint. It had clearly sustained heavy injuries during the ambush.

Upon seeing Gu Su return, Bone Ash dared not delay. It immediately pushed its damaged frame upright and staggered forward to meet him, its movements sluggish. It looked as though it had barely made it back alive.

"What happened?"

Gu Su stopped, his gaze falling on Bone Ash’s damaged frame. His tone was decisive, devoid of pleasantries, getting straight to the point.

His primary concern was the details of the ambush and the state of the enemy.

"My lord, we had just finished scouting the mall and were about to cross the street to search for more Resources when we were suddenly ambushed by a large number of bizarre Kobolds."

Bone Ash quickly composed itself and rapidly reported the sequence of events to Gu Su.

"These Kobolds were different from ordinary Kobolds. Their faces were painted with eerie clown makeup, and each had a Red Balloon tied to its back."

"Because of the Red Balloons, they could use the lift to make half-leaping attacks. They were extremely agile, and their numbers were staggering; we couldn’t break through their encirclement."

Bone Ash’s voice, a dry, rattling sound, grew hoarse as it continued, "More importantly, our Elite Skeleton Warriors had been recalled to the Graveyard Demon to help convert new Skeleton Warriors. We didn’t have the strength to clash head-on with those Kobolds. The Ordinary Skeletons were completely unable to withstand their agile attacks."

"After a fierce battle, the Skeletons under my command were almost completely wiped out. In the end, only myself and two other Skeletons fought desperately to break through, barely managing to escape." As it finished speaking, Bone Ash lowered its skull.

Gu Su listened, his expression unchanging. He simply asked in a level voice, "How many enemies did you kill?"

"My lord, we killed about thirty-eight or thirty-nine Kobolds. I didn’t have time to get an exact count, but it shouldn’t be far off."

Bone Ash replied quickly, its tone a bit more confident. "And we heavily wounded about twenty more."

"Not a bad result."

Gu Su nodded, satisfied. His tone remained level, without a hint of reprimand.

As a professional Undead Mage, Gu Su had the unique mentality befitting one.

His Undead minions were merely the combat force he controlled; their deaths in battle were no great loss. After all, the Undead could be summoned and converted anew. The one thing they could not be, however, was cowardly.

If his Undead minions clung to "life" and fled from battle, that would be the greatest shame for an Undead Mage—something he would never tolerate.

After all, the Undead have no Morale, they don’t fear grievous injury, and death is their normal state. If they were going to run away anyway, what the hell was the point of fighting?

Even though Bone Ash’s unit was outmatched, they hadn’t retreated. They had fought head-on, taking down nearly forty Kobolds and severely wounding over twenty more. That record was more than enough to satisfy him.

"Alright, you rest and recover here," Gu Su said, waving his hand dismissively. "This is my problem now."

Gu Su’s tone was level, but it held an undeniable certainty. That decisive aura instantly put Bone Ash at ease.

Still, Bone Ash couldn’t help but add a word of caution, "My lord, there are truly a great many of those Kobolds. We were completely unable to contend with them. You must be careful."

"How many?" Gu Su asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The enemy should still have close to three hundred Kobolds, and there might be reinforcements."

Bone Ash replied gravely.

Hearing the number "close to three hundred," the look of indifference on Gu Su’s face faded slightly, and he fell silent for a moment.

But after only a moment’s pause, Gu Su spoke again, his tone once again decisive and certain. "It doesn’t matter. I’ll kill them all the same."

With that said, Gu Su wasted no more time. He turned to the waiting Skeleton Warriors and began issuing orders in a methodical fashion. "Take all the vines brought back from the skyscraper and convert them into the Wood needed by the Graveyard Demon.

"Tooth Bone, come here. See if you can repair these things I brought back. If not, just set them aside for now. I’ll see later if they have another use."

Having said his piece, Gu Su paid no more mind to the processing of the supplies. He turned and walked directly toward the Deceitful Tree.

Bone Ash watched Gu Su’s retreating figure and said nothing more. It slowly backed into its own Gravepile, extinguished the Soul Fire in its eye sockets, and focused completely on restoring its damaged frame and aura.

Soon, Gu Su stood before the Deceitful Tree.

He stopped and, with a flick of his hand, precisely tossed the grayish-black Nightmare Pillow he was carrying onto the ground beneath the Deceitful Tree.

In the next instant, the Deceitful Tree reacted. Several thick vines shot down from the trunk like nimble arms, instantly wrapping around the Nightmare Pillow. Then, with a violent tug, they ripped the pillow to shreds.

Immediately after, the Large-leaf Lily Seeds at the top of the Deceitful Tree scattered in the breeze. The seeds, as thin as Paper Money, now faintly exuded a bizarre, sleep-inducing aura.

It was clear that in that single action, the Deceitful Tree had absorbed the power of the Nightmare Pillow and could now lull attacking enemies into a deep sleep.

Gu Su blinked at the sight and sighed to himself.

’Still not enough.’

Without further hesitation, Gu Su again raised his hand. He gently tossed the [Bizarre Seed Devoid of Life Force], aiming it precisely at the Deceitful Tree.

This time, however, the Deceitful Tree did not react at once. It simply stood motionless, allowing the bizarre seed to fall to the ground.

The bizarre seed then slowly sank into the soil until it disappeared completely, as if it had never existed.

Gu Su did not grow impatient. He simply stood there waiting, his gaze fixed on the Deceitful Tree, patiently observing its every move and any potential changes.

After a few moments, the Deceitful Tree finally stirred.

Its trunk trembled slightly. Then, a ghostly, fluorescent green halo, like a newly lit streetlamp, began to glow upon its leaves. Like a single spark igniting a wildfire, the light rapidly spread across the entire Deceitful Tree.

As the halo continued to expand, the fluorescent green light eventually enveloped the entire Graveyard Demon, bathing the area in its ghostly green glow.

A faint, bizarre aura began to permeate the air. It wasn’t unsettling; on the contrary, it carried a strange, soothing quality, yet it also concealed an intangible, oppressive weight.
