Inside the tent, Gu Su stared at the information appearing before him and let out a long sigh of relief.

The weight on his mind finally lifted. He was only missing the final piece—the Earth-Binding Vein—and then the Graveyard Demon could be fully restored and even upgraded.

The full repair of the Deceitful Tree had significantly improved the defensive capabilities of Gu Su’s Graveyard Demon.

Within the fluorescent glow of the Deceitful Tree, the eerie miasma and deathly aura in the air were automatically absorbed. The air itself was purified, and even the trash scattered on the ground was silently cleared away.

Most importantly, low-level strange creatures would be directly suppressed by the Deceitful Tree’s Power and eventually devoured whole.

This was just like the vines at the building from before, which could devour any enemy that drew near.

As for the minor tricks the Deceitful Tree occasionally displayed—like creating gusts of wind, scattering seeds that looked like Paper Money, and its use of hypnosis on enemies—they were just side effects of its primary function of luring in strange creatures. At best, they added to the ambiance, but they had virtually no impact on overall defense or core combat power.

This gave Gu Su an idea, however. He stood up, walked out of his tent, and looked toward a spot not far away. "Tooth Bone," he called out in a deep voice.

"My Lord!" Tooth Bone was in the middle of sorting the gray junk Gu Su had brought back, looking for salvageable parts. He immediately stopped his work at the sound of his name, hurried over to Gu Su, and bowed his head respectfully, awaiting orders.

Gu Su issued his commands: "Go ask Bone Ash how high those clown Kobolds can fly.

Also, I want you to take the lead on building the perimeter wall. Get it done as quickly as possible.

If possible, add some barbed wire or spikes to the top of the wall to make our defenses even tighter."

Tooth Bone responded at once, "Rest assured, My Lord. I’ll get on it right away. I won’t let you down!"

As Tooth Bone turned and hurried away, Gu Su looked up at the nearby Deceitful Tree and gestured lightly toward its crown.

A moment later, a White Crow lifted off from a branch of the Deceitful Tree with a flutter of its wings and landed steadily on his shoulder.

"Bring Suburban Wolf back," Gu Su said, his tone flat and concise.

The White Crow let out a low caw, then launched itself into the air. It turned and flew swiftly away from the Graveyard Demon’s territory, rushing to deliver Gu Su’s order.

With all his orders issued, Gu Su turned and strolled toward the hydroponic rack near the wall.

The four seeds he’d brought back from the outside were being nurtured there.

By now, three of the four seeds soaking in the rack had successfully sprouted.

The first sprout was a delicate white with a pale yellow tip. Though fragile, it stood straight and tall like a miniature jade hairpin, pushing firmly against its cracked shell.

The second sprout was pale green, its slightly curled leaves edged with a fine, downy fuzz. It looked soft to the touch and swayed gently in the breeze.

The third was the most unique. Its sprout was thicker and a fresh, bright green. The two small leaves at its tip had already begun to unfurl, like a pair of miniature umbrellas.

But since none of the three sprouts had fully unfurled, Gu Su couldn’t yet identify their exact species.

The final seed, however, remained submerged in the water, utterly still. It was impossible to tell whether it had long lost its Life Force, or if it was just exceptionally difficult to grow and required a longer incubation period.

Gu Su crouched down and studied the inert seed. Without a moment’s hesitation, he took out a small vial of [Plant Inducer] and poured the entire contents around the seed.

Instantly, a miracle occurred.

The moment the [Plant Inducer] was absorbed, the once-lifeless seed began to swell at a visible rate. It quickly put down roots and sprouted. A tender green vine unfurled, its leaves marked with fine, serrated edges, giving it a peculiar look.

Gu Su stood up, his gaze falling on the rapidly growing seedling. He waved to the still-busy Tooth Bone in the distance. "Tooth Bone, come take a look. Do you recognize this thing?"

Tooth Bone immediately dropped what he was doing and hurried over. He leaned in, staring at the seedling for a long while before finally, slowly shaking his head and answering truthfully.

"My Lord, I only specialize in repair and construction. When it comes to herbs and plants, Bone Ash would know more."

"Oh, how is Bone Ash’s recovery coming along?" Gu Su asked casually.

"My Lord, Bone Ash is in a deep, restorative sleep. It should wake in about an hour."

"Then we’ll wait for it to wake up," Gu Su said, his tone calm, without a hint of impatience.

After he spoke, Gu Su glanced at the sky. It was already afternoon; the day was nearly over.

Thinking of the enemies he still had to deal with, Gu Su stood lost in thought for a moment before turning and heading toward the Yin Fire Heap.

An iron tripod already stood over the Yin Fire Heap, with the large cauldron seized from the Orcs resting steadily upon it.

The water in the cauldron was bubbling away, releasing wisps of steam. A faint aroma of meat mingled with the crisp scent of wild vegetables and drifted through the air.

The cauldron held the chicken and rabbit meat from an earlier hunt, mixed with wild fruits and roots looted from the Orcs.

The chunks of meat had been boiled until pale, and fragments of the wild fruits and roots bobbed in the broth.

Tiny specks of oil glittered in the firelight.

Since there were no seasonings, and since none of the Undead were exactly gourmands...

...there was no hope of this large cauldron of stew being delicious.

But it would certainly be enough to fill a stomach.

A thick Beast Skin was spread on the ground near the Yin Fire Heap. Gu Su walked straight over, sat down, and began stirring the stew with a wooden ladle. His mind drifted to his plans, and he slowly became lost in thought.

Just then, the sound of urgent footsteps came from the gate. Gu Su looked up to see Suburban Wolf hurrying over with the Suburban Wolf Squad.

"Here, want something to eat?"

Gu Su waved at Suburban Wolf.

"No need, My Lord."

"How is the transport of those items going?"

When Suburban Wolf declined, Gu Su didn’t press the issue. He found a wooden bowl, ladled some stew into it, and began to eat.

"The water and bones have all been brought back. All that’s left over there is a bit of sludge that hasn’t been moved yet."

Gu Su nodded. "Two things.

First, some Kobolds have appeared near the mall. Send a Skeleton over to test them. See if they can keep up with it.

Second, there’s a high-rise over there where we found some potentially useful items. We were in a hurry to get back and couldn’t retrieve them. I need you to make a trip and bring them back."

At this, Gu Su glanced back at the Deceitful Tree.

Gu Su knew very well that there were definitely strange artifacts inside several of the rooms in that high-rise.

But with the Deceitful Tree here, he didn’t need to worry about such insignificant items.

"That’s it. Get both tasks done before nightfall. Then, prepare for a night battle."
