The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 58: Exchanging BlowsChapter 58: Chapter 58: Exchanging Blows

"They’re here!"
Standing within the Graveyard Demon, Gu Su watched as White Crow flew in from outside, its wingtips still flecked with dust from the forest. He knew then that the enemy, harassed by Suburban Wolf all night, had finally arrived.
Gu Su commanded decisively, "Open the main gate! The Walking Dead Warriors will hold the entrance and stop them from getting close."
"Skeleton Warriors, lay an ambush outside the gate. Skeletons, get behind the walls. If the enemy comes over the walls, knock them right back down."
"Tooth Bone, get ready."
At Gu Su’s command, all the Undead moved swiftly, taking their positions in an orderly fashion.
The Walking Dead Warriors gripped their Warhammers and Wooden Shields, their burly frames blocking the main gate. Their ashen-gray skin glinted coldly under the eerie light of the Deceitful Tree.
The Skeleton Warriors lay in ambush in the shadows on both sides of the gate. They held their Bone Swords at an angle, their Black Iron Shields flush against the ground. The dark green glow of their bony bodies dimmed, leaving only the Dark Green Crystal Stones on their Helmets to shed a faint light.
The Ordinary Skeletons gripped their Wooden Spears, spreading out along the inside of the wall. They crouched low, hugging the wall’s surface as they awaited orders.
This time, Gu Su had no intention of letting the enemy fight inside the Graveyard Demon.
He had chosen this location as a battlefield primarily for its convenience.
It was convenient for moving the Kobold corpses after the battle, convenient for calling upon the Undead Power of the Graveyard Demon to reinforce his troops at any time, and even more convenient for using the walls and the Deceitful Tree to his advantage, creating an encirclement.
The moment Gu Su’s Undead had all taken their positions, Suburban Wolf and his Suburban Wolf Squad rushed into the Graveyard Demon like a gust of wind. They were covered in scraps of grass and dust from the forest, clearly having sprinted all the way here.
"Grab your weapons and get ready to hold the line."
Gu Su just glanced at Suburban Wolf, saying nothing more.
Even Gu Su couldn’t guarantee victory in this battle.
There was no telling how many Kobolds there were. Though they were low-level monsters, their strength lay in their sheer numbers and extreme aggression.
Gu Su was about to commit all of his forces.
He had even prepared for battle himself, holding his Plague Cutter as his gaze remained fixed on the forest outside the gate.
The same was true for the Minions under his command.
Tooth Bone and Bone Ash were already gripping their Wooden Spears, standing shoulder-to-shoulder at the base of the wall. Their bodies were tense, their eyes vigilant, ready to counter any enemies that might come over the wall.
Just then, a piercing shriek shattered the forest’s tranquility. Immediately after, a dense horde of Kobolds poured out from the woods like a tidal wave, instantly flooding the open ground outside the gate. The chaotic and ferocious aura they exuded was overwhelming, making it hard to breathe.
These Kobolds were generally around 1.2 meters tall. Their bodies were stooped yet remarkably agile, their coarse, messy, grayish-black fur matted with mud and unknown filth, clinging to lean but sturdy torsos.
Their canine heads had savage contours, with sharp muzzles and exposed tusks. Their yellowed teeth were sharp and pointed, and drool constantly dripped from the corners of their mouths, leaving small, corrosive marks on the ground where it fell.
Their eyes, as large as brass bells, were either crimson or pitch-black, riddled with blood vessels. They radiated a madness and bloodlust devoid of any reason.
The strangest part was their faces.
Their entire faces were coated in a thick white powder, like a ghastly mask. On top of this, an exaggerated clown makeup was painted in dark red pigment. A crooked smile stretched across their cheeks, and long, tear-like streaks were drawn from the corners of their eyes. The intertwining ghastly white and dark red, combined with their savage canine heads, made them look even more bizarre and terrifying, sending a chill down one’s spine.
Tied to the back of each Kobold was a bright red balloon. The balloons were taut, filled with a strange gas. By slightly tensing their back muscles, they could use the balloon’s weak buoyancy to float in the air for a minute or two.
However, they couldn’t fly very high, reaching a maximum altitude of just over two meters. This was perfectly blocked by the wall Gu Su had raised to 3.1 meters, making it impossible for them to get over.
Perhaps driven to the brink of collapse by Suburban Wolf’s night-long harassment, or perhaps because their innate bloodlust had been fully unleashed, these clown-faced Kobolds charged without any formation, exuding a ferocious, death-defying aura.
They shrieked and roared, the high-pitched, piercing cries weaving together into a sound so sharp it made one’s eardrums ache.
The chaotic thunder of their countless footsteps caused the ground to tremble slightly, kicking up a sky-blotting cloud of dust.
Some Kobolds brandished crude Stone Axes and wooden clubs; others simply clutched sharp rocks in their bare hands. With crazed eyes and drooling mouths, they charged recklessly toward the graveyard gate. They pushed and shoved one another but never slowed, as if what lay ahead wasn’t a sturdy wall and a prepared Undead Team, but easily attainable prey.
"Tooth Bone!"
Seeing the front rank of Kobolds charge to within ten meters of the gate, their savage faces clearly visible and their shrill cries ringing in his ears, Gu Su let out a mighty roar that pierced through the chaotic din.
Almost at the exact moment Gu Su’s roar faded, the [Flashing Lamp Tube] installed directly above the main gate erupted with a blinding white light, so brilliant it was impossible to keep one’s eyes open.
The blinding glare was like the sudden arrival of daylight, bleaching the entire open area outside the gate a stark white. The Kobolds at the forefront of the charge were instantly struck by the intense light and screamed in pain, clutching their eyes. They halted their advance and began to thrash and roar where they stood, completely disoriented.
"Skeleton Warriors and Skeletons, attack!"
Gu Su seized the opportunity and issued his next command, his tone decisive and without a hint of hesitation.
At his command, the Skeleton Warriors ambushing in the shadows on either side of the gate instantly charged out, the dark green glow between their bones flaring intensely.
The Ordinary Skeletons from within the Graveyard Demon, gripping their Wooden Spears, also charged out of the gate in an orderly fashion, launching a fierce assault on the temporarily blinded Kobolds.
The Skeleton Warriors, both elite and regular, absolutely crushed the temporarily blinded and helpless Kobolds.
They were agile and swift. Wielding their Beast Bone Long-bladed Bone Swords, they struck decisively and efficiently. With a single strike, their sharp blades easily tore through the Kobolds’ fur and pierced their torsos.
Every sword strike was precise and lethal. The Kobolds were cut down before they could even react, their bodies falling lifeless to the ground.
The Ordinary Skeletons following behind, however, were relatively weaker. Gripping their Wooden Spears, they relied on their orderly formation to accurately stab the Kobolds, piercing their bodies and drawing forth gushes of black blood.
However, it often took two or three Skeletons working together, thrusting their spears into the same Kobold, to deliver a killing blow and end its life.
Even so, the Ordinary Skeletons showed no signs of retreat. They continued to charge forward swiftly, their spears rising and falling as they precisely stabbed at the thrashing Kobolds.
Everyone knew that this state of blindness wouldn’t last long. Once the Kobolds recovered their sight, the battle would become incredibly difficult due to their numerical superiority.
Every one killed now would lessen the pressure later, so each and every Skeleton was fighting with all its might, launching the fiercest attacks it could muster.
