Bone Ash dared not delay. He quickly returned with the Ash Squad under his direct command, accompanied by thirty-six Skeleton Warriors marching in formation.

He also brought back a large pile of Kobold corpses—the ones who had been killed in the earlier battle with his subordinates.

As soon as he stepped within the Graveyard Demon’s domain and felt the familiar, cold Death Qi in the air, he quickened his pace. He went straight to Gu Su, lowered his head, and awaited his orders in silence.

Bone Ash, I have a task for you. You will lead an expedition. Take your Ash Squad, and I’ll give you five Elite Skeleton Warriors. You will also take all the Skeleton Warriors currently here."

He raised a hand and pointed to several White Crows standing silently nearby, continuing in a deep voice, "Follow these White Crows. You’re going to retrieve something ten kilometers from here.

The terrain on the way is treacherous, so the journey will most likely be difficult. I’ll have the White Crows monitor you from the air. You are to report back immediately if you encounter anything unusual."

Gu Su paused, then leaned forward slightly to emphasize his core requirement.

But you and your Ash Squad must reach the designated location safely and bring back what I need completely intact.

"I will complete the mission, guaranteed," Bone Ash replied in a deep, firm voice, without a hint of hesitation.

Despite not knowing the mission’s details, he adhered strictly to his duty. He didn’t ask a single question, and a steely determination to succeed shone in his eyes.

Although Bone Ash didn’t know what Gu Su had urgently called him back to retrieve, nor did he understand the urgency behind it, he had followed Gu Su for a long time and knew one thing for certain. ’For him to recall me this urgently, there must be a serious reason—something concerning the safety of our territory. All I need to do is carry out his orders to the best of my ability.’

’We’ll also need other essential tools, like ropes and crowbars. I’ll need to get Tooth Bone to craft or repair them.’

’I have to coordinate with the Toothbone Squad ahead of time and get everything ready before we leave. I can’t let anything delay our departure.’

He was determined to prepare everything in advance. He would not betray Gu Su’s trust and would ensure the mission was completed smoothly.

Gu Su silently watched Bone Ash’s preparations. He neither intervened nor offered any extra advice.

About half an hour later, all preparations were complete. Bone Ash carefully inventoried his contingent of Undead and their equipment, confirming that nothing was missing. Then, leading all the forces assigned to him, he swiftly departed. Despite their haste, they maintained a disciplined formation.

Their marching formation was sound and well-planned.

He and the core members of the Ash Squad were positioned in the center, tightly guarded by the main body of Skeleton Warriors to ensure their safety.

The five formidable Elite Skeleton Warriors, led by a single White Crow, formed the vanguard. With Bone Blades in hand, they were ready to clear the path and handle any emergencies that might arise.

Along the way, they swiftly and mercilessly eliminated any visible enemy, from wandering Low-Tier anomalous entities to the occasional beast or monster that tried to launch a surprise attack. They maintained their fastest pace, never daring to slow down.

Gu Su had also given specific instructions for this mission: they were not to bring back any enemy corpses. Wasting time and energy on that was forbidden. Their entire focus was to be on reaching their destination as quickly as possible and transporting their objective.

Gu Su stood his ground, watching the squad recede into the distance. ’My goal is simple and clear. Best case scenario, they bring the giant turtle back whole. If there’s an accident and they can’t manage that, then they must at least bring back its heart and the Petrification Egg. The mission must be accomplished, no matter what.’

’As for what they actually manage to bring back... that will depend on Bone Ash’s judgment in the field.’

Only after the Ash Squad had vanished deep into the forest did Gu Su finally turn and walk over to the pile of Kobold corpses.

He raised a hand, gathering a faint wisp of Death Qi, and performed Soul Summoning on the cold corpses one by one, raising them as new, slightly sluggish Skeletons.

This time, however, Gu Su had no intention of sending these newly raised Skeletons to a training camp to turn them into Skeleton Warriors.

He was well aware that two of his most capable subordinates, Suburban Wolf and Snake Fang, were already out with Bone Forest, hunting Kobolds.

The Toothbone Squad was on permanent duty within the Graveyard Demon’s domain, responsible for base maintenance, tool repair, and other complex jobs, leaving them completely unavailable.

And Bone Ash had just led a team away.

With that, Gu Su found himself without a single laborer for menial work like hauling goods or cleaning up the territory.

Gu Su mused to himself, ’It would be a complete waste to spend so much time and precious Death Qi training these new Skeletons into decent Skeleton Warriors, only to have them do manual labor like hauling things and Scavenging. That kind of work doesn’t require combat skill, just brute strength.’
