For the next few hours, Gu Su didn’t venture too far. He took the new batch of Skeletons he had just created with Soul Summoning and methodically set to work both inside and outside the Graveyard Demon.

In that moment, Gu Su felt as if he had tumbled from modern civilization back to a primitive society.

These newly summoned Skeletons lacked any independent consciousness. They would only mechanically execute commands he gave them directly. Though their movements were slow, they never slacked off.

Otherwise, they would either mindlessly repeat the last command or just stand rooted to the spot, completely motionless, incapable of even the most basic improvisation.

This forced Gu Su to periodically stop his own work, walk over to the Skeletons, and repeatedly remind and correct them on what to do and how to do it. He even had to personally demonstrate the tasks at times. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of impatience, but he knew this was simply their nature, so he didn’t criticize them too harshly.

Fortunately, the Skeletons were diligent and uncomplaining. No matter how tedious the command or how heavy the workload, they would execute it without fail as soon as Gu Su gave the order. Watching them bury themselves in their work, the flicker of irritation in Gu Su’s heart began to subside.

After a morning of hard work, the first thing they finished was clearing the area outside the perimeter.

Afterward, the Skeletons dragged the cleared vines and saplings, along with some large rocks gathered from the surroundings, back inside the Graveyard Demon. Through the Graveyard Demon’s conversion process, these materials were transformed into usable Wood and Stone.

With the perimeter cleared, Gu Su led the Skeletons back inside the Graveyard Demon to start organizing the cluttered supplies.

This was the main task for the day.

Gu Su had long wanted to organize the various supplies piled up next to his tent.

Under his command, the Skeletons divided the labor, moving all the Wood to the vicinity of the Withered Wood Forest. They stacked it neatly, which both protected it from moisture and made it easy to access.

The Stone and Metal fragments were all piled up near the Combat Outpost.

After a flurry of activity, the area around his tent was cleared out. The ground was spotless, no longer the cluttered mess it had been, where one could barely find a place to stand.

Looking at the neat and orderly camp, Gu Su felt a swell of accomplishment, and the fatigue from his morning’s work seemed to mostly disappear.

At the same time, Gu Su had the Skeletons tend to four types of plants.

The four types of plants, originally grown on hydroponic racks, had already matured and been propagated. Now, following Gu Su’s earlier plan, they were being transplanted to their corresponding locations inside the Graveyard Demon.

Influenced by the hydroponic racks, the plants’ growth rate had significantly increased. Just a few minutes after being planted, they were already showing subtle but distinct changes.

Among them, the Saw Grass grew the fastest, having been treated with the Plant Inducer.

Gu Su had designated a specific area under the left wall of the Graveyard Demon, setting up a neat row of hydroponic racks where he transplanted the propagated Saw Grass.

Mere minutes after being planted, the Saw Grass was already propagating itself nonstop.

Its growth rate was beyond anything Gu Su had imagined.

Gu Su assigned two Skeletons to stand guard here all day, repeatedly instructing them that as soon as the Saw Grass grew to be palm-length, they were to cut it down, sun-dry it, and store it in sealed containers for future use in crafting armor.

Dew Grass grew extremely fast and was highly adaptable. It could survive being planted almost anywhere and required little maintenance, making it one of the key plants Gu Su was cultivating for a water source.

He had it transplanted to a corner on the right side of the Graveyard Demon, where he had also dug a shallow canal.

He made some arrangements tailored to the Dew Grass’s natural habits.

To better collect the condensation from the Dew Grass, Gu Su had the Skeletons line the bottom of the canal with a layer of flat stones to prevent the water from seeping into the ground.

Only a few minutes after being planted, the Dew Grass began to grow vigorously. Its pale white stalks stretched slightly taller, the light-yellow buds at their tips grew plumper, and its once-small leaves gradually unfurled, becoming thick and succulent.

Tiny, crystal-clear dewdrops began to form at the tips of its leaves. The droplets slowly coalesced, trickled down the blades, and fell precisely into the canal below, gradually forming a small puddle of fresh water.

As planned, the Ghost Moss was evenly planted beside every Gravepile and Tombstone.

It wasn’t suited for hydroponic racks to begin with; the areas around the Tombstones and Gravepiles were a much better fit for its natural growing conditions.

When first planted, the Ghost Moss was just a thin layer of tiny, light-green sprouts clinging to the soil. Nourished by the Yin Qi, it began to grow and spread rapidly, its delicate mycelia clinging tightly to the Gravepiles.

The silvery-gray fuzz on its fronds grew more distinct, emitting a faint, silver-misted glow in the dark. It expanded bit by bit across the surface of the tombstones. Before long, it had covered the base of the stones in a thin layer that was soft and smooth to the touch.

Looking at the scene, Gu Su had a feeling. ’This stuff probably won’t grow into regular Tomb Moss. Instead, it’ll likely be influenced by my Corroding Mycelium and become part of it.’

Finally, there was the Strong Root Grass. It was planted in the gaps between the wall’s metal sheets and wooden planks.

A few stalks were planted in each gap, staggered in a way that would reinforce the wall’s foundation.

Strong Root Grass possessed an extremely potent Life Force. It began to take root the moment it was planted, its short root system rapidly extending deep into the cracks and twining tightly around the wall’s metal sheets and wooden planks.

Its thick, pale-green stalks grew taller, and the small, umbrella-like leaves at the top gradually unfurled. They were a deep green and tough in texture. Even the poor soil in the cracks didn’t hinder its growth in the slightest.

It was clear that once these plants took hold, it wouldn’t be long before their extensive root systems would firmly anchor the wall’s foundation, binding the metal sheets and wooden planks tightly together. This would reinforce the wall several times over, making it the Graveyard Demon’s most powerful defensive support.

Some of the roots had already started to poke through.

Gu Su also stationed two Skeletons here. He told them not to worry about the roots growing inside the wall. However, any roots that grew more than five meters out from the exterior of the wall were to be cut off and used to make rope.

This was a carefully considered decision on Gu Su’s part.

After all, this was a wall, not a field for Strong Root Grass to grow wild in.

’The growth of these roots is uncontrollable.’

’It’s fine if they grow inward; at worst, they’ll just burrow into the soil of the Graveyard Demon.’

’But if they grow outward, it would be tantamount to giving the enemy handholds to climb the wall.’

’I can’t afford to be careless.’
