"..." Harvey Cadorette frowned, not understanding what she was saying.
"Nathalie Quinlan had someone break one of my fingers. I’m still lying in the hospital and I don’t know when I’ll be discharged."
"You’re saying Nathalie Quinlan..." Harvey inhaled sharply.
He wasn’t exactly sympathetic to Zevaney Kingsley’s plight, it was just unexpected to see Nathalie Quinlan being so audacious. Shamelessly ignoring the Kingsleys Family behind Zevaney and settling accounts with her, leaving Zevaney so humiliated... and even needing to ask him to pass on the message.
This wasn’t typical of the Kingsleys Family or Zevaney Kingsley.
Just how deep a backing does Nathalie Quinlan have, to make Zevaney take a hit and then humbly admit her mistake?
Such an invisible powerhouse.
They initially thought she was just a pitiful newcomer to Inderia.
Recalling Zevaney still lying miserably in the hospital, and thinking of his initial impression of Nathalie as a ’pitiful thing,’ Harvey got distracted and didn’t catch what Zevaney was saying next.
"... Anyway, Brother Harvey, could you apologize to her for me? I hope she won’t pursue this further. I’m begging you."
Harvey did hear the most important point—Zevaney wanted him to come forward and appeal to Nathalie Quinlan.
He was still hesitating.
Zevaney gently added, "Brother Harvey, I remember when you first entered the level 8 laboratory, I helped you once."
Harvey’s thoughts drifted back to when Zevaney mentioned that incident; he had accidentally damaged an important chemical material in the laboratory.
That material was extremely valuable.
The laboratory didn’t have much in stock at that time, and he was quite at a loss, torn about whether to report it to Orson Saban.
Zevaney somehow found out about it and soon found him an alternative chemical material.
Harvey has always been grateful for her help and has often assisted Zevaney in research projects over the years.
Zevaney’s earlier ability to independently complete tasks in the level 3 laboratory was partly due to Harvey’s private assistance.
Harvey didn’t expect Zevaney to bring up that incident. His brows furrowed, and he instinctively felt a bit repelled: "I remember that, but that was a favor I owe you; it’s unrelated to Nathalie Quinlan. I..."
"I know," Zevaney interrupted him, "I don’t mean to force you; I just hope you can apologize to Nathalie for me."
"Whether she agrees or not, I won’t blame you."
"Brother Harvey, I’m still in the hospital right now; even if I wanted to apologize to her in person, I can’t get out... I’m begging you."
"I’m only asking you this once, please help me this time..."
Zevaney’s attitude was sincere, even sounding a bit pitiful.
After all, Harvey was a big, rough guy, not very adept at handling such matters. His dark and honest face showed a flash of hesitation and confusion. After a pause, he slowly said, "I can pass your message, but I’m not sure she will agree to let it go."
"It’s okay; it’s enough that you’re willing to pass it on for me." Zevaney didn’t give him a chance to rethink, immediately saying in a low voice, "Thank you, Brother Harvey."
When Harvey agreed to pass the message, he already felt a bit regretful for being too impulsive, but since Zevaney quickly thanked him, he awkwardly scratched his head, finding himself only able to say, "No worries."
...
Harvey received Zevaney’s phone call before entering the laboratory.
He hung up the call and walked into the laboratory, glanced around, and couldn’t find that familiar figure.
