The Unveiling of Secret Queen
Chapter 2292: Mr. Martin, This Is the Friend I Wanted to Introduce TodayHe was eating a dish of Zenla cuisine, the light seasoning more suited to Northern European tastes, and it looked very exquisite.
As he ate, he chatted happily with the person across from him: "By the way, you mentioned introducing me to a friend. Has your friend not arrived yet?"
The person sitting across from him caught sight of the girl entering from outside with the edge of his eye, smiling politely as he spoke, "Here she comes."
...
Nathalie Quinlan heard Khendy Lordon call her name as soon as she entered: "Over here."
She raised an eyebrow and immediately spotted the only table of guests in the restaurant.
"No need, I’m here to see someone. I’ve already spotted them." Nathalie said to the waiter, then proceeded to walk toward the window.
Khendy Lordon’s appearance was striking enough.
Even those who didn’t notice his outstanding looks at first sight would certainly notice the wheelchair he was sitting in, making it hard to overlook him.
Nathalie saw there was another person seated across from him, a foreigner, who was curiously observing her as she approached.
Her gaze darkened slightly as she pursed her lips and walked over.
Khendy waited for her to come closer, smiled gently, and introduced, "Mr. Martin, this is the friend I wanted to introduce to you today, Nathalie Quinlan."
Martin...
Nathalie’s gaze flickered, remembering that Nicholas Fuller had mentioned this name to her half an hour ago.
She looked at the foreign man in front of her, paused for a moment, then politely extended her hand, "Hello, I’m Nathalie Quinlan."
Yet Martin watched her without moving his gaze for a long time, not even extending his hand in greeting. Instead, his eyes fixated tightly on her eyes, as if seeing someone else through those defiant eyes.
"Mr. Martin," Khendy said quietly, slightly displeased, though he was not someone who displayed his emotions openly, he merely called the name casually.
Martin jolted back to attention, still staring uniquely at Nathalie’s face, took a long moment to extend his hand and politely shook hers. Then casually remarked, "I’m sorry, I mistook you for someone else. Your eyes are so unique; for a moment, I thought I saw someone familiar. I’m terribly sorry, Ms. Quinlan, please don’t mind."
Given his status, offering an explanation and apologizing to a stranger girl was purely out of respect for Khendy Lordon.
Nathalie understood this point, did not dwell on it, replied that she didn’t mind, found a place to sit down, and ordered a cup of warm water from the waiter.
Khendy, noticing she sat on his side, felt a bit better, and asked her quietly, "Would you like to eat something more? The spicy chicken here is quite good."
"I had something before coming, can’t eat more," Nathalie politely declined him.
Khendy didn’t insist on ordering dishes, instead, he called the waiter and ordered a hot chocolate for her. The waiter moved swiftly, bringing fruit juice and hot chocolate almost simultaneously.
Nathalie, not wanting to reject his kindness, picked up the cup of hot chocolate, bowed her head and took a sip.
The hot chocolate wasn’t difficult to drink.
Especially drinks from this kind of establishment, assuredly carefully crafted.
Yet Nathalie had no appetite.
Having just finished eating, drinking such sweet and rich beverage wasn’t particularly pleasant, only making her stomach uncomfortable.
Nathalie took just a small sip before putting the cup down, suddenly looked at Martin, with eyes shimmering with exploring light, asked a question: "Mr. Martin, you mentioned mistaking me for someone else, seeing someone familiar through me. May I ask, who is that familiar person...?"
