The Vampire Count Returned to the Apocalypse Game
Chapter 114: Shocked GhostsThe song of the birds was distant.
The cave seemed totally a common and ordinary natural construction, but in its interior it hid secrets that longed to be discovered.
A fortuitous encounter, according to Abyss. This time the opportunity belonged to him.
Pressing strongly the small book against his chest, he stored it inside his overcoat, imperceptibly utilizing the inventory.
"With so much good will, I really would be a fool if I denied myself." Said Gabriel, with his imperturbable eyes.
"Do not convert this moment into emotive words. Just enter." Answered Abyss, rapidly cutting any possibility to unnecessary discourses.
The greatest thanks would simply be to fulfill and act rapidly. He was a simple man— Violence was a ritual to which he gave a grateful welcome.
"Don’t worry, I was not going to thank you twice." Said Gabriel, abandoning little by little the closeness with Abyss, advancing each time more in the direction of the cave.
"If you die I will have wasted my blood with you."
With those words he turned and began to march with calm. He would not waste time uselessly like a nanny.
The work was done. Survive or not, belonged purely to the luck of Gabriel.
Gabriel was a deep knower of this truth. In the world, above all the criminal world, there existed no kind of benefit that was truly a favor from the heavens.
Unless you descended from a famous family with a trust fund. But they were useless details.
His path had to be opened with the edge of the metal and its weight in corpses.
A ghostly light, extremely chilling and assassin, hid behind his eyes. His body needed fresh blood.
Without looking back, he advanced. His panel shone immediately.
_______________
[You are entering the limit zone of a dungeon!] [Danger!]
[The Ghostly Cave]
Description: Many legends cover the folklore that envelops this ancient cave, which very anciently served as exploitation of precious metals. Ghostly howls and the presence of creatures that belong to the plane of the dead. Whoever enters, dies.
[Probability of death: 77.7%. A solitary challenge will increase your final rewards]
______________
It was the typical announcement that so many times he had read before. The curtain of a newly discovered dungeon, hiding its respective secrets and development.
Directly he ignored it.
His new and precious daggers would pierce even the ghostly plasma.
His confidence was overflowing, after experiencing his own personal metamorphosis upon abandoning the dangerous challenges of the divine ruins.
A beast liberated from its cage.
With his eyes dealing with the darkness, he walked through the curtain of darkness. The damp interior received him with open arms.
There was an incessant dripping in the depths of the cave.
A lugubrious wind rose and sighed through the stone, provoking chills in the spinal column.
"Now I understand why Abyss became this way." He murmured to himself, dealing with the tenebrous rocky formation.
The ghosts roamed in their extremes, hidden before the vivacious and vigorous energy of the living.
His confident steps soon found their end. Fear alternated with his audacious demonstration.
A creature rose before him, sickly and with a emaciated body, it only had some worn pants and a permanent smile.
Pale and lightly yellowish, its eyes opened with slowness. In the penumbra it was like a demon that had been reborn.
"Flesh... Alive."
Before it managed to finish pronouncing its strength, its head was violently detached with a single slash. Flying and rolling in the air, until finally crashing onto the ground with its diabolical smile.
The body fell without strength, losing its head without even understanding it.
"Will it be too late to negotiate a price with Charles? I was too slow. He must have a lot of money." Murmured Gabriel without sense, totally alien to his assassin action.
At that moment he regretted not having negotiated exhaustively with his new boss.
When he was about to continue advancing, small scratches were heard behind him.
At first they were imperceptible, like leaves striking the window, until they converted into violent scratches that damaged the ear.
He sighed without strength, preparing himself to finish his enemy. It really was a ghostly cave.
The corpse that had been decapitated, suddenly rose with imbalance. Stumbling with its long extremities.
Some oxidized knives appeared in its hands, as if it were by work of magic. Gurgling with disgusting noises.
The information appeared in his mind.
__________
[The Tearer]
[Level 26]
[A corpse that does not find forgiveness for its sinful acts. It will finish its victims with hate and violently]
__________
Its information was perceptible because it was of a widely superior level.
"You want to play that game."
Suddenly the extremely tall monster launched itself against him, without fearing the wounds, aiming its double blades at his neck and stomach.
He easily dodged them, studying its movements. Rapidly he discovered that it was a savage and frenetic fight. With two precise cuts, both arms fell detached striking the ground.
His daggers pulsed with an extremely fateful and oppressive energy swirling around him. It was the unique quality of his new weapons: they could pierce everything.
An unequaled edge, similar to the rumored legendary weapons.
The creature lost the course, dismembered and decapitated, it was a ghostly zombie destined to eternal suffering.
With a stab, he pierced its greenish and yellowish heart. The monster convulsed a few seconds until finally abandoning the physical plane.
He doubted a few seconds before swallowing its essence.
It was disgusting.
With resolution, he deepened into the paths similar to tunnels that surrounded the structure. An artificial construction that had been abandoned with time.
Finally converting itself into the home of vengeful spirits.
From its holes and pits, transparent existences began to navigate, rapidly surrounding Gabriel.
Probably this was the true challenge of the dungeon: dealing with the insane quantity of spirits that had populated the cave.
Easily converting themselves into part of the nightmares of Abyss.
But a curious gaze planted itself on his face, hidden by his mask. For the first time... It felt so simple.
A horrible ghostly creature launched itself against him, with the jaw dislocated and the eyes blackened, it expelled a thunderous and terror-filled scream.
Dodging it in the last instant, his daggers painted a deep cut on its cheek. Making fly a strange greenish substance.
Silence was made.
Both the ghosts and Gabriel himself were shocked by the sudden act.
They were ghosts. An intangible existence and to whom the normal attacks were totally ineffective. An elemental and universal knowledge that all should possess.
Why this human... Had managed to cut them?
Suddenly they fled, shocked and frightened. No one wanted to die for a second time.
And Gabriel with a maniac expression pursued them, because for the first time he experienced the feeling of a supreme hunter.
The ghosts soon passed to a better life, abandoning the plane of the living and only leaving a greenish substance behind.
They had been an extremely nutritious food, refining their remains with the Gluttony of Leviathan.
His mind felt more serene and capable. Like a baptism in sacred water.
Or in the remains of some unfortunate ghosts, it was the same.
The last challenge was before his eyes. The decision of life or death.
The hall of the final boss.
The king of the underworld, the accumulation of human sins, the most abhorrent monster on the face of the earth.
It was the type of reputation that a ghostly creature that dared to proclaim itself as the final boss should merit.
It had been too easy until that point. He recognized that his confidence could not continue growing or it would become a problem.
When he entered, in the center of the circle...
There was a small little man, with a white ceremonial suit and a funny beard.
The fearsome ghostly king.
Is this a damned joke?
His thoughts were heard when an even greater circle began to vibrate, expelling a grayish mist and the lament of a thousand souls.
A horrendous creature swallowed the poor and small conceited ghost.
"I preferred the joke."
The true ghostly king was a monster that came from the very underworld, a collection of putrid flesh and innumerable souls in pain. They screamed and cried, with an energy of colossal misfortune.
At that instant he only managed to think of the ranking of the Hunter King. The first places really merited their reputation.
The monster roared, with the crackling of vengeful spirits exploding in rage, promising to assassinate the families of its enemies.
