A sudden, explosive rush of anger flooded Gabriel’s mind.

He instantly spun around on his heel and violently front-kicked Draven squarely in the chest.

The force of the blow was devastating. Draven was launched completely off his feet and flew backward through the air, crashing heavily into a group of Oresfall soldiers.

Without even pausing to look at the warlord, Gabriel used his right arm to block an incoming sword slash. He punched the flat of the steel blade with his metallic knuckles, making the sword bend.

He immediately followed up with a vicious roundhouse kick.

Claire had just arrived and tried to land a delayed strike, but she was a fraction of a second too late. Gabriel’s boot slammed into her side, sending her flying backward just like Draven.

But that momentary distraction was exactly what Adrian needed.

The very next second, Adrian was right in Gabriel’s face.

Gabriel was genuinely surprised. From what he had seen, this guy primarily used a long staff as his main weapon, but Adrian was currently standing so incredibly close that he was entirely inside standard striking range. A long staff was practically useless at this proximity.

In that split second, Gabriel instinctively tried to figure out what the hell Adrian was attempting to do.

Adrian didn’t use the staff.

He just pulled his arm back and punched Gabriel squarely in the center of his pretty face.

CRACK.

Gabriel stumbled backward, completely dazed. Blood immediately started pouring out of his broken nose.

He shook his head to clear his head from the fuzziness due to the punch and looked up just in time to see Adrian dashing forward for a follow-up attack.

But strangely, Adrian’s metal staff was currently falling through the air right beside him. It was almost like Adrian had intentionally tossed his primary weapon up into the air just so he could land that single punch.

Gabriel smirked through the blood.

He aggressively dashed forward to meet the charge and threw a devastating, mana-infused punch directly into Adrian’s stomach.

The metallic knuckles slammed into Adrian’s enchanted armor.

Adrian was instantly launched backward. He flew through the air exactly like Draven and Claire had, and he was unable to grab his falling staff before he was sent flying across the battlefield.

As Adrian flew through the air, he felt an intense, agonizing strain pulling at his abdomen. The force of the punch had completely knocked the wind out of his lungs, rendering him unable to breathe.

But through the blinding pain, mostly thanks to his decently high Pain Tolerance, he was still able to think clearly.

He cursed himself inwardly.

’Fuck! I should have just used my superior range and smacked him with the staff instead of trying to be flashy and using my bare fist! Ah, what a dumb fucking move! But the fight needs to be close for me to gain better benefits... ugh...’

Adrian crashed onto the griound, rolled, and skidded to a halt. He immediately started running forward again since he had no intention to give the Apostle even a single second to recover.

But as he ran, he quickly analyzed the situation.

He glanced to the side and saw Draven lying completely motionless on the ground. The marquis had been instantly knocked out cold by that single, devastating kick to the chest.

Adrian quickly glanced to the other side.

Luckily, Claire wasn’t unconscious. But her heavy plate armor was dented on her side, and she was clearly struggling just to stand up. Adrian knew immediately that it was a terrible idea to let her re-engage in this fight.

That was when the third arrival came in clutch.

Gabriel had just stabilized his footing. He quickly glanced at Adrian sprinting toward him from a distance, and then glanced over at Claire, who was struggling to stand back up much closer to his position.

Seeing all this, he quickly made a decision.

’His running speed and my running speed are practically identical right now,’ Gabriel thought. ’In this situation, it is much better if I just quickly eliminate these annoying extras before I focus entirely on him. These insects actually managed to chop my arm off.’

Gabriel ignored Adrian and dashed directly toward the injured Claire.

But before he could even take three steps, he suddenly felt an intense, burning cold sensation erupt deep inside him.

Gabriel stopped dead in his tracks. He slowly looked down at his own torso.

The bloody tip of a steel broadsword was protruding directly out of his stomach.

He slowly turned his head to look over his shoulder.

Sebastian Kaldwin was standing directly behind him, his hands tightly gripping the hilt of the sword he had just driven entirely through the Apostle’s back.

Gabriel’s eyes widened in sheer anger.

"You... wretched! Dirty! Scum!" Gabriel hissed, his blood boiling as he glared at the ant that had just stabbed him.

But Gabriel knew deep down that this single, desperate ambush had messed up his plans. Sebastian’s attack had stalled him for just a fraction of a second, and that was more than enough time for Adrian to cover the remaining distance.

And his instincts weren’t wrong.

Adrian closed the gap instantly. He gripped his metal staff with both hands, twisted his hips, and swung the weapon with every ounce of his strength.

SMACK.

The staff slammed directly into the side of Gabriel’s head.

The Apostle was sent flying to the side. The embedded broadsword ruthlessly sliced through his internal organs as he was launched, but Sebastian’s grip on the hilt was tight enough that the sword stayed with him and ended up ripping itself out of Gabriel’s stomach.

Adrian watched as Gabriel crashed into a group of nearby Avarice soldiers, but he didn’t stop.

The distance wasn’t too huge. With just a few meters between them, he immediately raised his staff to dash forward and continue the assault.

But just as he took his first step, Gabriel started laughing which made Adrian stop in his tracks.

"Haaaaa ha ha ha ha!"
