The World Is Mine For The Taking

Chapter 1674 - 233 - The Storm Hits (6)

"Agneis, open the Guardian a little," I said while looking toward the barrier that had just finished repairing itself.

"What are you planning to do?" she asked, clearly wondering why I suddenly wanted to leave the safety of the Guardian.

I didn't answer her question, mostly because I wasn't completely sure how to explain what I was about to do without wasting time that could be better spent actually doing it.

Seeing that I wasn't going to give her an answer, Agneis opened the Guardian without complaining and allowed me to leave the protection of its barrier.

The moment I stepped outside, I immediately saw countless missiles raining down from the sky and heading straight toward my position with enough force to turn the surrounding area into a disaster zone.

I didn't bother running away from them, and instead simply looked upward while watching the incoming missiles rapidly descend toward me.

I then summoned both Ayuru and Samui into my hands, and the moment they appeared in their sword forms, I immediately wrapped my fingers tightly around their respective hilts.

"I hope neither of you takes offense to what I'm about to do, because I'm going to use both of you to stop those missiles from reaching the ground," I said while looking at the two swords in my hands.

I leaned forward and kissed both sides of their blades before tightening my grip around their hilts once again.

"You don't have to worry, Master," Ayuru said inside my head with her usual calm voice. "I'll support you as much as I possibly can, so you can focus entirely on dealing with the incoming attack."

"Hmph! I'm not going to take offense over something like that," Samui replied with her usual attitude. "As long as you keep sustaining me with your life force, I won't complain even if you swing me around in ways that could be considered rather offensive."

Well, I suppose both of them were ready for what was about to happen.

As soon as the first wave of missiles reached me, I immediately raised both swords and began swinging them, slicing through one missile after another before any of them could get close enough to the ground.

I was moving so quickly that the missiles didn't even have a chance to make contact with the ground before I intercepted them.

I made absolutely certain that none of them reached the surface, constantly changing my position while swinging both swords with practically no interval between one strike and the next.

My movements gradually became almost automatic, with one blade following another in a continuous rhythm as I cut through the incoming barrage without allowing myself even a moment to slow down.

The entire thing almost felt like a dance, except that instead of graceful music accompanying my movements, I had dozens upon dozens of missiles flying toward me with enough explosive power to ruin everyone's afternoon.

The missiles I sliced apart didn't explode immediately after being cut.

Instead, they continued traveling for a short distance before exploding behind me, allowing me to keep moving forward without being caught in the resulting blasts.

For the most part, I remained in the air at a considerable distance away from Guardian 2.0 while continuing to deal with the endless barrage.

My swords kept swinging without pause, and after a while, the entire process began feeling almost natural, as though this was something I had been doing for years instead of something I had suddenly decided to do in the middle of a battlefield.

I didn't stop swinging.

I simply kept cutting through everything that came toward me.

After some time had passed, roughly three hours or so, I was still standing in the air without having taken even a moment to properly rest.

Despite spending that entire time fighting against what seemed like an endless supply of missiles, I wasn't even breaking a sweat.

In fact, my clothes were still completely intact, which was probably the strangest part of the entire situation considering the ridiculous amount of explosions happening around me.

I looked down at myself for a moment, almost wondering whether I had actually been fighting for three hours or whether the entire thing had somehow felt much longer than it really was.

Apparently, they had finally run out of missiles to throw at me.

The bombardment had stopped altogether, and enough time had passed without another attack that I realized they weren't going to continue firing for the moment.

I decided to take advantage of the opening while I still had it.

If they were going to stop attacking me, then I might as well return the favor and remind them that I could attack from a distance as well.

I gathered mana around the palm of my hand, using a technique similar to what the Magic Knights had demonstrated earlier.

The mana quickly condensed into a concentrated mass before I aimed my hand toward the location from which all those missiles had been coming.

Then I threw the attack toward them.

The attack shot forward at incredible speed, traveling through the battlefield before disappearing into the distance toward the enemy position.

I wasn't finished yet, however, because one attack didn't seem like enough after everything they had just thrown at us.

I gathered even more mana into my palms and launched several additional attacks toward the same general area, sending them one after another without giving the enemy much opportunity to react.

After throwing all of them, I finally took a moment to breathe before turning around and returning toward Guardian 2.0.

The moment I stepped back inside, Reilhahand and Lionel immediately looked toward me with expressions of genuine surprise.

Even the Magic Knights, who had been watching the entire thing from inside the Guardian, looked completely shellshocked by what they had just witnessed.

I couldn't really blame them for reacting that way.

They had only recently demonstrated their own attacks to me, and now they had watched me perform something similar repeatedly without even breaking a sweat.

From their perspective, I supposed it must have looked completely unreasonable.

"I didn't realize how powerful you truly were before this," Reilhahand said while staring at me with a mixture of surprise and admiration. "After seeing that performance, however, there is absolutely no doubt about it anymore. You are clearly much stronger than I initially thought."

"I knew I should expect a lot from you, and you certainly delivered exactly what I hoped you would," Lionel said with an excited expression. "I certainly don't regret giving you my daughter at all!"

Both of them seemed genuinely satisfied with the decisions they had made regarding their daughters.

Honestly, I was happy about that.

Having both of their fathers accept me was something I could definitely live with.

"D-Did he actually do it?" one of the Magic Knights asked while looking toward me with a mixture of surprise, disbelief, and barely contained expectation.

"Don't celebrate just yet," I told them while looking toward the battlefield outside. "The storm has only just hit, and there's still plenty more to come."
