After leaving the Void, the lights in the preparation room returned to normal, and the ethereal feeling that had permeated the room dissipated.

Stepping out of the preparation room, Hancock saw black, viscous liquid everywhere, like asphalt seeping out of every corner.

"Every time we leave the Void, the ship’s interior ends up like this. The captain and his crew have never bothered with it. God knows how they can stand it."

Little Drilling Wind looked around with disgust. ’The way humans travel in this instance is just foul,’ she thought.

When Hancock reached the ship’s storage hold, he saw Duan Fei sitting there, lost in thought.

Common sense told Hancock that no human could survive looking directly into the Void, yet he had a feeling that Duan Fei was the exception.

The feeling was bizarre. It was like knowing the sum of a triangle’s interior angles is 180 degrees, only to have someone present a triangle that defied that rule—and succeed.

Approaching him, Hancock saw that Duan Fei was fine, just a bit exhausted.

He sat down beside Duan Fei and asked curiously, "What’s the Void like?"

"It’s a terrifying place. Something is screaming every second, and horrible phantoms are everywhere, trying to drag you in. I’m guessing they can sense a person’s gaze and use it to attack them."

The black residue left by the Void was disgusting enough. The thought of something even worse made Hancock shudder. He then nodded in admiration.

’What a badass.’

After a moment of thought, Duan Fei asked him, "Do you have any weapons?"

"I do, but it’s just a basic Laser Gun. The power output isn’t high enough to pierce a human body. Only the captain has the authority to activate them. What are you planning?"

"An experiment."

After having Little Fatty activate the Laser Gun, Duan Fei picked up the palm-sized weapon and, to Hancock’s utter shock, shot himself in the palm.

’It doesn’t hurt. I could probably even use it for warmth if I had to.’

Hancock was dumbfounded. It took him a good while to ask, "Are all you Superpower Users like this? I mean, do you just shoot yourselves for fun when you’re bored?"

"We’re not, we’re really not," Little Drilling Wind said from the side. "I don’t think normal people should treat a Laser Gun like a toy, and neither should Superpower Users."

"Is that so?"

Missionary of Love walked over, picked up the Laser Gun, and shot himself. His solid muscles, like steel plates, resisted the beam.

"Here, let me try."

Shadow God also took the gun and shot himself. The Magic Power woven beneath his clothes interfered with the laser beam, leaving him completely unscathed.

"This thing is weaker than a bullet. Its only advantages are that it’s silent and has no recoil. High-powered laser weapons would be formidable, though. They’re light-speed, after all."

"Well, how should we think about defending against them?"

"Muscles and love can overcome anything!"

"Get outta here!"

The three freakish players were deep in an animated discussion, which made Little Drilling Wind realize that she and Little Fatty were the only two who couldn’t do what they just did.

’Dammit, I’m the normal one here, so why do I feel like the odd one out?’

「After traversing the Void, the Star Gate was now in sight.」

The massive Star Gate encircled the local system’s star like a long, silver-white ribbon.

All the matter in the entire star system had been used to construct the Star Gate. It also served as a major human settlement and an energy collection device, storing vast amounts of stellar Energy.

Docking on the inner ring of the Star Gate, an airlock extended from below and connected with the bottom of the Long Range.

After passing through the docking tube, the five players emerged, having already changed to conceal any markings identifying them as Superpower Users.

From the moment they docked, Little Fatty had been hacking the local database. He continuously uploaded fake credentials to overwrite the Long Range’s original information, replacing it with new profiles for Duan Fei and the group.

The moment they stepped off the ship, Little Drilling Wind was already scanning her surroundings warily. "We’re being watched," she whispered.

Perhaps because it was a long-term instance, they couldn’t use any external communication tools, which made sharing intel somewhat risky.

However, while they were on the Long Range, the five of them had already discussed their Professions and general Skills, giving them a basic understanding of each other’s abilities and specialties.

Little Drilling Wind’s Profession was Journalist.

It was a Profession geared toward Reconnaissance. Her Photography Skill allowed her to take clearer pictures, and her Hotspot Detection ability let her sense when a big story was breaking.

Her Covert Filming technique allowed her to perceive the gazes of others. Even at the Beginner level, it was enough for Little Drilling Wind to feel the eyes on them.

"It’s probably the military," Duan Fei replied. "Our priority level is high, after all. But don’t worry. Little Fatty is running interference, so they won’t know what we’re saying."

"I hope so. What’s next?"

"We split up and explore. Long instances like this have plenty of side quests and items. Let’s just wander around; we might find some good loot."

"Okay, sounds like a plan."

It would take twelve hours to clean the Void residue from the ship, so they had to stay here for at least that long.

That gave them just enough time to do some Reconnaissance and uncover the secrets of this place.

With plenty of time on his hands, Duan Fei could thoroughly dig for intel and figure out what the Void truly was.

If possible, he also wanted to find out why the Alliance was gathering Superpower Users. ’They can’t just be planning to have us all sit around playing house in a prison, right?’

The interior of the Star Gate was spotless. The star’s energy output was immense—just one part in 2.2 billion was enough for Earth to give rise to countless life forms, yet the Star Gate harnessed a full one-tenth of it.

This Dyson sphere-like structure made the Star Gate’s Energy supply so cheap it was practically free. Energy hogs like gravity generators were small fry in a place like this.

Duan Fei took out his phone, connected to the local database, and began using his phone’s powerful Skill to search for information on the Void.

The result was a bit surprising.

Zero.

All information regarding the Void had been scrubbed from the database. Not a single trace remained.

After a moment of contemplation, Duan Fei searched again for "Superpower User" and "Void Spirit." Unfortunately, the result was the same: Zero.

’This information is blocked too? Why? Why doesn’t the Alliance want anyone to know about this?’

"Because that knowledge is dangerous."

An abrupt voice made Duan Fei turn his head in confusion. He saw a young man standing there with his hands in his pockets, watching him with a deadpan expression.

He shifted slightly, letting the outline of a Laser Gun in his pocket become visible. "Would you mind coming with us?" he asked.
