There Must Be Something Wrong With This Game!

Chapter 129 - 62: The Only Level 6 Superpower User

The first Superpower User to realize she was still alive was Miss Computer.

After discovering that the Death Day had been summoned, she was the first to learn of it, and the first to fall into despair.

But when the mold enveloped the Star Gate, and the Death Day’s all-consuming advance was somehow resisted by the white fungus, she was again the first to notice. Through the communication waves, she also learned of Duan Fei’s plan.

After she informed the other Superpower Users of who had saved them, their captain mulled it over for a moment before saying to Miss Computer, "Notify the other Superpower Users. Tell them to stop resisting and surrender completely."

"But... the Corps Commander didn’t give us authorization to surrender."

"The Alliance has already abandoned us. Do we really need to listen to their orders? This is my command: the Superpower Corps will surrender."

"What about the micro-bombs on the back of our necks...?"

The captain reached back and grabbed viciously at her neck. With monstrous strength, she ripped out a chunk of flesh, micro-bomb and all, and tossed it aside.

The moment it left her body, the micro-bomb detonated. The anti-matter charge obliterated half of her torso.

However, tendrils of flesh sprouted from her body, and the half that had just vanished began to regenerate. It wasn’t long before she was restored to her original state.

Finding some clothes to put on, the captain said with a smile, "I’m already a Level 5 Superpower User. It’s no big deal to me."

"...But it’s a big deal to us!" Miss Computer said frantically.

"Sometimes, I really envy you all for having such a brilliant captain, while all I have is a bunch of foolish squad members. Since that Astarte can resist the Death Day, he should also be able to deal with the micro-bombs inside our bodies."

"Captain, you’re so brilliant!"

"You’re good at this, keep the compliments coming!"

"The captain is the best in the world!"

"Keep going!"

"The captain’s been single since birth!"

"...You just wait!"

In the underground prison, Corps Commander Thun couldn’t see what was happening outside. But when he realized the Death Day had not yet consumed his location, he knew something was wrong.

A Spirit Detective is nearly impossible to kill by physical means, but he had a special Alliance-made pill hidden in his body. All he had to do was open it to take his own life.

But before he could act, the prison door was pushed open. A woman with a baby face and a seemingly docile appearance sat down and asked politely, "Mr. Tuen, would you be open to an interview?"

Thun’s eyes widened. He instinctively wanted to refuse, but his mouth betrayed him, saying dispassionately, "For three minutes, yes."

"Only three minutes? Your Spiritual Power must be strong. Basically, the stronger the Spiritual Power, the shorter the interview time."

"A Spirit Detective’s Spirit must be formidable."

"In that case, I’ll make it quick. Do you happen to have some means of taking your own life?"

"For someone like me, such a method is a necessity."

"Could I see it? It’s a necessary part of the interview. I want to be responsible to my audience."

"Hmm... all right."

Taking the pill from the palm of his hand, Thun presented it to Little Drilling Wind.

After handing the pill to someone beside her, Little Drilling Wind asked, "Next question: why can’t Spirit Detectives travel to Azure Star?"

"A Spirit Detective is a key, and the gate that corresponds to that key is on our home planet, Azure Star. We have traversed the Void too many times. Each crossing brings back some substance from the Void, which will eventually cause our world to sink completely into it."

"The Mechanical Sect is trying to close the Void. Can’t you assist them?"

"We can’t." Thun shook his head. "Humanity can no longer live without the Void passages. The universe is too vast, and humanity is too small. Without the Void passages, the connections between the Star Gates would be severed instantly. The Federation’s authority would crumble in a moment, and the world would plunge back into a dark age. So, the Federation can only keep the Void passages open while constantly searching for better methods of interstellar travel."

"I see..."

After a moment of thought, Little Drilling Wind glanced at the time and asked with confusion, "Mr. Tuen, three minutes are up. Why are you still talking?"

"Because I realize I am no match for you," Thun said coolly. "You can even mind-control a Pseudo-man like me, and you can even resist the Death Day. Whether in Spirit or in body, you are superior to me. Any further resistance is a waste of time. I might as well submit and see what your purpose is."

"A rational choice. May I have our captain speak with you?"

"Please."

Leaving the cell, Little Drilling Wind had Duan Fei come in and sit face-to-face with Thun.

After they stared at each other for a moment, Thun asked, "Why did you want to see me? To mock me from the victor’s pedestal?"

"I’m not that bored. I’m just interested in history. As a Spirit Detective, you must have lived for quite a long time, so I’d like to ask a few questions to supplement my knowledge of the history here."

"Ask away. I guarantee I will answer everything truthfully."

"So cooperative?"

"You already carry the aura of the Void. Your eyes have even become a source of the Void. This means you’ve come into contact with it and grasped a great deal of forbidden knowledge. Even if I don’t tell you, you will slowly come to understand everything, become a vessel for the Void, and drag this world into it."

Duan Fei looked at Thun, thinking, ’Good thing he doesn’t know we can only stay for a short time.’

’But this also proves he knows a lot about the Void. My current state is also rather dangerous.’

’I’ve only survived this long because my Talent is holding it back. Without my Talent, the Void would have killed me long ago.’

’Then again, without this Talent, I wouldn’t have been stupid enough to stare directly into the Void in the first place.’

But Duan Fei wasn’t sure what would happen to his eyes after he left this instance.

’This ability, gained through a bug, will likely be deleted. It would be best to find a solution before leaving.’

Therefore, Duan Fei asked bluntly, "How do I fix the problem with my eyes?"

"The Alliance has no solution," Thun said. "The only one who can solve this problem is a god."

"Oh, a god. Where is he now, then?"

Thun looked at Duan Fei, a hint of confusion appearing in his cold eyes for the first time.

’Shouldn’t his first reaction to hearing about a god be to question its existence?’

’Why is he so nonchalant?’

He could never have imagined that Duan Fei had already encountered the same Evil God twice—once interfering with its plans, and another time causing it to self-destruct.

However, an Evil God isn’t so easily defeated. So the second time, he probably only destroyed its vessel, leaving the main body unharmed.

After a brief moment of shock, Thun continued, "The god is in the Void. Before becoming a god, he was a powerful Superpower User, and the one and only Level 6 Superpower User."
