The Little Nun who had just run out ran back in.

She sat down across from Winston and asked expectantly, "And then? And then? Was there any... special behavior? Like, something... lewd..."

"Isn’t biting someone’s neck and draining their blood lewd enough?" Winston asked, surprised. "Think about it, there was even physical contact!"

"Any random page from our Holy Scripture is lewder than that," the Little Nun said while sipping her milk. "Duan Fei, let’s have the next part. I want to keep listening."

"Wait, can I borrow your Holy Scripture for a look? No ulterior motives, I just want to gather some intel."

A few minutes later, after glancing through a few pages of the Holy Scripture, Duan Fei concluded that this thing was a treasure of the Ero World.

He asked for a copy and put it in his backpack. Duan Fei felt like he had already obtained the greatest treasure of this instance.

The Little Nun’s name was Kerry. The fifteen-year-old girl wasn’t exceptionally beautiful, but she was youthful and full of life, which did a lot to liven up the atmosphere.

Moreover, she was one blessed with Divine Grace. After she had mostly recovered, she sensed that Duan Fei and the other two were not living beings and strongly demanded to see the three of them under their robes.

Unable to refuse the little girl, the trio took off their helmets, robes, and Mage Hat, letting her see their faces.

"Whoa, that’s so cool," Kerry exclaimed in genuine admiration. "This is my first time seeing Undead Creatures. You’re way cooler than I imagined. Father Ken said you came from the Great Tomb, so does that mean you were once heroes, too?"

Stirred by the word "Hero," Beist immediately shouted, "I am Beist."

Winston smacked Beist with her staff to shut him up, then said helplessly, "Yes, he’s Beist, and I’m Winston."

"The Hero and the Demon King... In that case, let me ask a question first. The answer will determine my attitude toward you from now on. Miss Winston, some people say you’re a mass murderer. Is that true?"

Winston thought for a moment, then said, "I don’t think so. At least, I have no memory of it. I was just a very ordinary Mage Apprentice, scared every day of the potential mutations my Magic Power could cause. But in the end, I still turned into a Vampire."

"Then where did you get your corpses?"

"Graveyards. Just go to any graveyard and you’ll find a bunch of corpses. Once awakened, they make decent servants."

"Desecrating corpses is also a serious crime."

"I paid for them!" Winston said, annoyed. "And some were ones people paid me to handle. After all, becoming an Undead Creature lets them retain part of their consciousness. Some rich people wanted to keep their family members around that way, though they’d still end up asking me to send them off in the end. I got paid twice for one dead person, so I was super rich back then."

Sighing, Winston continued, "But I don’t know when it started. I was branded with the title ’Queen of Death,’ and then I was hunted by the Church, hunted by Demon Hunters, and hunted by some big idiot. Sometimes, they’d say I was committing a massacre in the east one day, and then performing a blood sacrifice in the west the next. What a joke. My Magic isn’t that powerful; I can’t travel that fast."

"So you’re saying you were framed?" the Little Nun asked.

"Yes, you could say that. But there was this one guy who always believed I was innocent. He kept chasing after me, inviting me to clear my name with him. Who was that person again?"

Beist smiled faintly, looked at the milk in front of him, and said, "That was me."

"That’s right. This idiot here."

"Whoa, it feels like history is completely wrong. It might be because the relevant records were destroyed. My whole view of history is changing," the Little Nun said excitedly. "So, did you two do it?"

"Why are you so obsessed with lewd stuff!"

Tapping Beist’s helmet with her Magic Staff, Winston continued, "Such a weirdo. He kept telling me I was innocent and swore he would protect me. But what happened to us in the end? Why did we both fall and become skeletons?"

"I don’t remember," Beist said, shaking his head. "Duan Fei, continue."

"Alright. Hua Valley. This is where you fought next."

Beist’s shoulders began to tremble. Winston also fell silent, staring at the candlestick on the table.

Sitting across from the two skeletons, Duan Fei, the Little Nun, and Yan Yuan remained silent, but the three of them had the same thought in that moment.

’Ah, so that’s how it is.’

’It was *that*, wasn’t it.’

Duan Fei only lamented that the game was rated 15+, otherwise he would definitely get to see more... interesting plot developments.

Clearing his throat, Duan Fei said, "The Great Tomb, originally named the Land of Parting. The place where you had your final battle."

Hearing this name, the two skeletons had an unusually strong reaction.

They shot up from their seats, then forcefully opened each other’s skulls to check what was inside. They breathed a sigh of relief when they found them to be completely empty.

Facing Duan Fei, Beist said sternly, "Duan Fei, you, come here."

"No way!"

"Get over here!"

"No! I know you want to see if I have a brain! I don’t, okay?!"

Beist forcibly pounced on him, opened Duan Fei’s skull, and breathed a sigh of relief after confirming it was empty.

Sitting back down, Beist said, "I remember now."

"I remember now, too," Winston sighed.

"So what were you guys checking for?" Duan Fei asked, sitting up in confusion.

"Heart-devouring Worms. Some kind of worm of unknown origin that can spread and infect through various channels. After infection, some people will show plague-like symptoms. This is due to a failed infection, where the Heart-devouring Worm dies and creates toxins. But for some, the infection is successful. Their entire brain is eaten by the Heart-devouring Worm, and they eventually become a host for the worm."

Winston picked up the explanation, "The host doesn’t realize they’re a host, because the Heart-devouring Worm acquires their memories and consciousness, making them believe they are still alive. But in reality, they’ve been eaten hollow."

Tapping his own head, Beist said, "Winston and I were both infected back then. After being infected, we heard a powerful voice telling us to bring our bodies underground. I originally wasn’t going to bother with it and just find a place to die. But Winston took me underground, hacked the eyeballs in there to pieces, brought out the things inside and the other infected people, and then activated a large-scale Magic Array. The only effect of this Magic Array was to turn us into skeletons."

Hearing this, Duan Fei realized that everything finally connected.

Skeletons have no brains, but they have souls. The two of them had used this method to purge the Heart-devouring Worms from themselves and the others. This contribution was truly a heroic deed.

’Not letting people get close must be to prevent any possible survivors from escaping. Those eyeballs must be an evolved form of the Heart-devouring Worms. No wonder Beist hates them so much.’

But he still had one question, so he quickly asked, "Then what did Kael do?"

"Kael? Who’s Kael?" Beist and Winston asked in confusion.

’There is only one truth. He must be the Black Hand behind the scenes.’
