Rosalie:
I tried to focus only on Eiden, on the way his mouth moved against mine with a skill that made my head spin, but the knowledge of Zaiden watching added a layer of taboo thrill that made the kiss taste sweeter and more dangerous.
Eiden’s hands tangled in my hair, tilting my head back to deepen the angle, his tongue tracing the seam of my lips before claiming the space inside, mirroring the intensity Zaiden had shown me moments before.
I was caught between them, the air thick with their scent and the heat radiating from their bodies, and I found myself melting into the sensation. My hands moved to grip Eiden’s shoulders as I lost myself in the dual sensation of being kissed while being watched. It was a fast-burn intensity that left no room for hesitation, no time for doubt. The heat between us escalated until I was trembling in Eiden’s hold, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird.
When he finally ended the kiss and pulled away, his eyes were dark with satisfaction, and he licked his lips as he turned to correct his friend.
"You are wrong, Zad. She’s sweeter than honey."
The words left me breathless and completely undone in the space between them. My lungs refused to cooperate. Every breath came unevenly as I lowered my gaze, desperately trying to regain control over my racing heart.
It felt as though every beat echoed inside my ears while my wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, refusing to calm down after everything that had just happened. If anything, she seemed even more energized now, constantly whispering impossible suggestions into my mind.
Go back to them.
Don’t let them leave.
Finish what they started.
Claim your mates.
The thoughts made my cheeks burn hotter than ever. I pressed my lips together, trying to silence both my wolf and the embarrassing images she kept throwing into my head. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at either of the two men standing in front of me. Every time I remembered what had just happened, warmth spread all the way to the tips of my ears.
I was so determined to hide my face that I didn’t notice Zaiden moving until warm fingers settled beneath my chin. His touch was gentle, almost impossibly careful, yet firm enough that I couldn’t continue staring at the floor.
Slowly, he tilted my face upward until our eyes met. His gray eyes searched mine quietly, the playful confidence from moments ago fading into something much more thoughtful. He studied me for several long seconds, almost as though piecing together a puzzle only he could see. Then something shifted in his expression. Surprise. Then disbelief.
His brows pulled together ever so slightly before he asked in a low voice, "Rosalie... was that your first kiss?"
The question completely shattered what little composure I had managed to gather. Heat flooded my entire face. Without answering immediately, I dropped my gaze once more, suddenly becoming painfully aware that I was still wearing his oversized dress shirt. Almost instinctively, my hands reached for the hem, pulling it farther down over my bare thighs as though the extra inch of fabric could somehow shield me from the overwhelming embarrassment. My fingers twisted nervously into the soft material while I gave the smallest nod imaginable.
Almost instantly came two sharp intakes of breath at the exact same moment.
My head lifted automatically. The expressions waiting for me were nothing like I had expected. Neither of them looked pleased, nor they looked smug. If anything, both Zaiden and Eiden appeared genuinely stunned.
Their eyes met briefly before returning to me again, and I had no idea what they were thinking. Confusion lingered on both their faces, mixed with something heavier that I couldn’t quite identify.
It was Eiden who finally broke the silence. His voice remained calm as always, but I didn’t miss the careful way he chose each word. "Rosa..." he began softly, "were you... not in a relationship with the Alphas of Blackthorn and Crescent Wolf Packs?"
Just hearing their names was enough to sour my mood. The warmth inside my chest cooled instantly, replaced by a familiar anger I just buried in the shower. For a brief moment, I considered avoiding the conversation altogether. Pretending I was too tired. Changing the subject. But those thoughts disappeared almost as quickly as they came.
These two deserved the truth.
If I had truly accepted the feelings growing inside my heart for them, then I couldn’t keep hiding pieces of my past forever.
Taking a slow breath, I nodded.
"They never actually said it," I admitted quietly. "None of us ever sat down and called it dating. No one confessed. No one asked me to be their girlfriend." A bitter smile touched my lips before disappearing just as quickly. "But... what we had was obviously more than friendship."
Neither man interrupted. They simply listened.
"We were always together," I continued, my voice softer now as old memories resurfaced. "We spent nearly every day with each other. We celebrated birthdays together. Festivals. Family dinners. We hugged..." I paused briefly, searching for the right words. "We cuddled while watching movies. Sometimes..." My cheeks warmed again, though this time it wasn’t because of embarrassment but because of how distant those memories suddenly felt. "Sometimes they’d kiss my forehead... or my cheek."
I looked from Zaiden to Eiden as I added, "But never anything more."
The room grew quiet once again. Neither of them seemed judgmental. If anything, they appeared even more puzzled than before.
Zaiden folded his arms loosely across his chest, his gaze thoughtful rather than critical. "This unspoken boundary in your relationship..." he asked after a long pause, "...was that your choice? Or theirs?"
The question lingered in the air.
I opened my mouth to answer immediately. Then stopped. Because... I honestly didn’t know.
For years, I had never questioned it. Back then everything had seemed completely normal, natural, and comfortable. I had never once felt frustrated by the pace of our relationship. I had never wondered why things never progressed further. I had simply believed... that this was how love worked.
I lowered my eyes, thinking harder than I had in months.
"I..." I whispered. The answer didn’t come easily. "Back then... it all felt natural." I clasped my hands together in my lap, unconsciously fidgeting with my fingers.
"I never felt like they were holding back. And I never felt like I wanted to cross that line either." My brows knitted together as more memories surfaced. "I thought... maybe we were all just taking things slowly."
I fell silent again. Because another thought had quietly crept into my mind. One I had never allowed myself to consider before.
Slowly, I looked back at my two mates and confessed honestly. "Hinestly, I’m not sure anymore." The words felt heavier than I expected. "I don’t know whether everything really happened naturally... or whether I spent all those years convincing myself it did."
Neither Zaiden nor Eiden spoke. But something in their eyes told me they had understood exactly what I meant.
