Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!
Chapter 47: The Eighth Station - Plains of the KnightsThe generator was even simpler - he had the blueprint. After directly consuming resources to manufacture it and applying Sublimation, he obtained a device that could generate electricity just by burning wood and metal.
The planting carriage maintained a relatively humid environment, internally divided into six adjustable sectors where both temperature and humidity could be regulated. Beneath his feet wasn't the train's steel flooring but rich black soil. He planted the White Forest Fruit tree right in the center, where sunlight shone through the carriage's retractable skylight.
With plenty of remaining space, Ye Qiyan decided to plant the tomatoes obtained from Rainveil Villa. The planting carriage's accelerated growth effect proved remarkable - roots and sprouts appeared shortly after planting. The first batch of tomatoes was expected within three days.
He even managed to buy watermelon seeds from the Trading Platform. These were clearly leftovers from someone's meal, casually tossed onto the platform with ridiculously low pricing that no one bothered with - which worked perfectly in his favor.
Wiping sweat from his forehead, Ye Qiyan admired his handiwork with satisfaction. Plenty of empty space remained for future acquisitions - he'd keep an eye out for useful seeds and plants at station platforms.
Currently, the Trading Platform offered little he needed, but there was no hurry. The sector was about to merge, and conductors from other sectors would surely bring new trade goods.
[9:30:00]
Right on schedule three hours later, the broadcast sounded:
["Initiating sector merger"]
["Merger complete"]
["Current population: 10000/10000"]
No earth-shattering changes occurred, just the chatroom numbers climbing until returning to the original 10,000. Scrolling public messages created deja vu of their initial arrival in this world:
["Holy shit, we actually merged? Yo yo yo, brothers from other sectors see this?"]
["Reading you loud and clear! Finally some new chat buddies - we were down to 300 survivors here, nearly wiped out. How about you guys?"]
["About a thousand here. But how many sectors exist in this world? Damn, we've got triple digits after the letters already."]
["A thousand's not bad! That makes our D-119's nineteen hundred the largest then?"]
["Damn right! With Brother Zhao around, at least we won't starve."]
["Who's this Brother Zhao? Some big shot?"]
["Obviously! Brother Zhao's the top legend in D-119 - started farming at the first station! Most of our food comes from him. Plus his train's Level 3!"]
["Level 3 so what? Farming so what? Like we don't have that here. Our Brother Li definitely hit Level 3 first."]
["Exactly! Our sector's even got gun dealers - you got that?"]
Arguments, laughter, boasts. As different sectors merged, people instinctively adopted factional identities. Even without personal stakes, survivors flaunted their sector's achievements like collective honor was at stake - one sector's glory became all its members' bragging rights.
"Started farming at the first station... impressive. There really are capable survivors out there." Ye Qiyan shook his head ruefully, biting into a White Forest Fruit while accessing his primary concern - the Trading Platform. With sectors merged, the marketplace should have too.
Indeed, the Trading Platform now overflowed with previously unseen items and materials. Each sector had developed differently - like D-119 apparently specializing in food sales but completely lacking seeds. Understandable when one early farmer likely monopolized their seed supply.
"Quite the selection here." After extensive browsing, Ye Qiyan acquired several changes of clothes, a bar of soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste. Moderately priced yet rarely purchased - most struggled too much for basic survival to prioritize lifestyle upgrades.
Emboldened by these acquisitions, Ye Qiyan indulged further - purchasing a large wooden tub which he filled with water before stripping and plunging in.
"Hssss... huuu..." The chilly water proved bracingly pleasant. Ye Qiyan relaxed completely, eyes slitted in enjoyment as water soothed his fatigue away.
Freshly bathed and dressed in clean clothes, lying on a soft bed, the relentless train's roar became the only reminder this wasn't normal life. For this moment, the Train Survival reality faded to irrelevance.
[12:30:00]
Thirty minutes before arriving at the eighth platform.
[Crossroads of Fate triggered. Please choose between two platforms]
[Platform 1: Train Maze (Level 4 Escape Platform)]
[Platform 2: Plains of the Knights (Level 4 Mission Platform)]
Another new platform type. "Escape" clearly signaled danger, compounded by the "Maze" designation. In contrast, Mission Platforms - which Ye Qiyan had experienced multiple times - reliably delivered decent rewards.
"Select Platform Two."
[Platform selection confirmed]
[Please remain seated as the train approaches the eighth station...]
[Plains of the Knights]
The train accelerated gradually as it advanced. Reality distorted ahead until the hour hand reached one, when the entire train phased through void. The world outside the windows transformed instantaneously.
[Current Platform: Plains of the Knights]
[Docking countdown: 09:59:59]
[Good luck]
[This station: Danger]
"Wait, what's with this docking time?" Ye Qiyan rubbed his eyes, doubting his vision, but the countdown display confirmed reality. "System, isn't my docking time fixed at five hours?"
The train system promptly responded via broadcast:
["Conductors' docking times remain fixed after increases. Conductor Ye Qiyan (E-3-1102)'s docking time was interfered with by ??, resulting in extension."]
["Furthermore, since Conductor Ye Qiyan's docking time exceeds new conductor limits, train upgrade options will exclude docking time extensions until the tenth platform."]
