On the way to the village, Ye Qiyan learned the name of this scruffy middle-aged man.

Otanli.

This guy had a special identity - he was the village chief. The reason Otanli could escape wasn't just because his father had secured him an opportunity, but also because there was a secret tunnel beneath his house.

This tunnel had originally been dug by Otanli for secret rendezvous with several young widows in the village. The young widows were gone now, but the tunnel had become a lifesaving path.

After climbing over a hill, Ye Qiyan saw the village not far away. Dark red and snow white intertwined under the eaves of low houses, where large numbers of bats hung upside down in silent slumber. Faint wails and maniacal laughter could be heard coming from some houses.

Otanli gritted his teeth, tears streaming uncontrollably down his face. He knelt before Ye Qiyan again, pleading: "Hunter Lord, please, I beg you to save them!"

Ye Qiyan didn't respond to Otanli's plea. His goal was to hunt vampires, not to rescue people. "Where's that secret tunnel you used to escape? Take me there."

"Over here!"

Otanli led Ye Qiyan to a hidden cave entrance where the tunnel was concealed. Looking at the tunnel wide enough for a person to walk upright, Ye Qiyan shot Otanli a suspicious glance. "You dug this by yourself?"

"...Your village folks sure know how to have fun..."

"Hunter Lord, what did you say?"

"Nothing. You go in first."

"Huh?"

Before Otanli could react, Ye Qiyan kicked him squarely in the buttocks. The frightened Otanli entered the tunnel to lead the way while Ye Qiyan followed at a distance, carefully observing their surroundings.

After his stamina limit increased to 120 points, his physical abilities and observational skills had improved significantly. Even in complete darkness, he could clearly see everything within ten meters.

Whoosh—

A mithril crossbow bolt whizzed over Otanli's head. "Eeek!!" He let out a terrified scream as a bat with crimson eyes was struck by the bolt and fell to the ground, turning to ashes in an instant.

Otanli turned back in horror to see Ye Qiyan calmly walking over to retrieve the bolt. "Bats here mean this place was discovered long ago. So this really is a trap after all."

A sinister chuckle suddenly echoed through the tunnel. Countless bats flapped their wings, blocking the path behind Ye Qiyan. From the darkness emerged over a dozen pale, hideous humanoid monsters wrapped in black cloaks.

"Hehehehe, a hunter, a real hunter! The Progenitor was right - if someone escaped with that coin, a so-called hunter would surely appear! Didn't expect you'd come so quickly though. Hehehehe, human, you didn't really think you escaped on your own, did you?"

Their disgusting laughter paired with revolting voices was more grating than fingernails scraping a chalkboard.

"H-hunter Lord, I-I didn't know! I didn't mean to lead you here, I—" Otanli was on the verge of breakdown, realizing his escape had actually been allowed by the vampires.

"I know it's not your fault," Ye Qiyan interrupted, scanning their surroundings before shaking his head slightly in disappointment. "Only thirteen vampires? I expected more."

The lead vampire sneered coldly. "Human, you still think your mithril weapons can kill us? In complete darkness, our speed is something no mere human can match! Vampires are invincible in darkness! Attack! Drain this hunter dry!"

"Invincible in darkness? Then let's brighten things up." Snap—

A softly glowing stone appeared in Ye Qiyan's palm. The moment it appeared, the dozen surrounding vampires sensed imminent danger, their instincts screaming at them to flee.

But it was too late.

"Close your eyes."

"Yes!"

The Pure Cleansing Stone erupted with brilliant radiance that illuminated the entire tunnel. Whether bloodthirsty bats or evil vampires, all turned to ashes in the holy light without even a sound.

When the light faded, Otanli saw that the vampires and bats in the tunnel had completely vanished as if they'd never existed - everything he'd just witnessed might as well have been a dream.

"Let's go."

Putting away the Pure Cleansing Stone, Ye Qiyan continued forward. Since the vampires already knew he'd entered the tunnel, there was no need for stealth anymore.

Emerging from the tunnel, several mithril bolts instantly annihilated the waiting vampires. This was Otanli's home, now converted into a blood harvesting station. Dozens of blood-drained corpses were piled in a corner, while a few barely alive victims on beds had no chance of survival.

Ye Qiyan stepped outside. The commotion in the tunnel had clearly alerted the vampires. The moment he appeared, dozens of vampires accompanied by swarms of bats took to the air.

"Human! Surren—"

Before their leader could finish, Ye Qiyan directly pulled out the Pure Cleansing Stone again. Brilliant light erupted, instantly reducing every vampire and bat in its path to ashes.

Holding the continuously glowing stone, Ye Qiyan expanded its radiance further. More and more vampires were annihilated, and those trying to flee were easily picked off by mithril bolts.

After two hours of systematically clearing every corner of the village, Ye Qiyan had eliminated every last vampire. Returning to Otanli's house, the village seemed completely cleansed.

Hunt completed?

This felt... too easy.

After all, this was a Level 5 station, yet most vampires were only around Level 2, with a few Level 3s mixed in. So where was the Level 5 vampire?

"Otanli, what's this village called?"

The dazed man sitting before his brothers' corpses snapped out of it. "Tes Village, Hunter Lord. Thank you for saving the village and eliminating all the vampires, even though... even though everyone is dead... but..."

"Shh~"

Tes Village? That didn't match the station's name. Feeling the Pure Cleansing Stone in his pocket still glowing warmly, Ye Qiyan looked outside.

In the sky, a crimson spiral vortex slowly formed as an ancient vampire far uglier than the others descended, opening a monstrous maw.

Then—

"Ahhh!"

A piercing shriek!

Ye Qiyan put in earplugs purchased from the Trading Platform after selecting this station, his lips curling into an amused smile. "Now this is more like it. If it's called a Hunt station, there should be a boss to fight."

On the system screen, the monster's information appeared before him:

[Screaming Blood Progenitor] (Level 5)

[Immune to holy attacks below Level 5. After shrieking, revives all corpses to fight while continuously draining the living's sanity and applying "Madness" mental debuff]
