The neon lights lit up the surroundings, with cars and hovercars whizzing past, and pedestrians walking in droves, either returning home or heading out to enjoy the nightlife.

Cyra pulled Zane through the crowd and boarded a train that would take them to their chosen destination after much deliberation. They planned to visit the museum, the zoo, and other trendy places they had looked up.

Zane’s eyes gleamed with unrestrained excitement and anticipation. Those places were new to him, and he couldn’t wait to visit them.

“Are we going back after this, or should we lodge in a hotel and head back tomorrow?” Zane asked as they alighted from the train.

Cyra pulled him through the busy street, following the map on her holographic screen to their first destination.

“It depends on how late we finish visiting every place we chose today,” she responded as they stopped in front of a tall building with gleaming glass windows. The light shone dazzlingly on the glass, reflecting its fluorescent glow onto the ground.

“Whoa, is it the museum? Let’s go in.” Zane impatiently pulled Cyra forward. There was a sparse crowd at the entrance, with a robot standing guard.

“No rush,” Cyra said with a light chuckle as she let herself be pulled forward. They stopped at the entrance, paid the fee, and walked in.

The interior featured a touch of ocean blue, and the temperature was cool, with the space brightly lit.

Cyra’s gaze fell on the arrow signs pointing the way, and she pulled Zane along. They stopped in front of an elevator.

“It seems we are going down,” Zane muttered as the elevator descended. Cyra hummed in response as she tapped on her hologram screen—she was buying a ticket for the next attraction they would visit.

After a few minutes, the elevator stopped, and the doors opened with a ding. As soon as they stepped out, Zane gasped at the sight before him.

The walls were segmented, each section holding marine life that swarmed around their kind. Seahorses with unique scales blew out bubbles of water in greeting; another wall held silver jellyfish, their bodies gleaming in different shades when the light shone on them.

Zane pressed his hand against the glass as if to touch the creature within. His expression was etched with awe and surprise.

He had thought he had seen every marine life form in the restaurant, but this sight made him realize he had only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Cyra took some pictures of his comical expression, saving them for later. She didn’t rush him, following quietly behind and stopping whenever something caught his attention.

It was more of an aquarium, housing rare and unique sea creatures seldom seen elsewhere, alongside delicate artworks and historical sculptures that told the story of the ocean town’s history. They spent two hours exploring the museum before Cyra finally pulled the reluctant Zane out of the building.

“We still have to visit the zoo and other places. Don’t worry, we can come here whenever you like,” Cyra placated the dissatisfied Zane. He perked up at her words, remembering there were other fun places to go.

They boarded the train again for their next destination.

Today, Zane had so much fun that he ate the skewered meat he held while walking beside Cyra, whose hands were full of street food he had bought along the way.

“Take me out next time. It’s so exciting and fun to visit all those places,” Zane muttered, his eyes crinkling into a smile. His smile drew a few looks his way, and his usually cold expression softened, becoming more vivid.

"I think you prefer the street market more than any other place we visited." Cyra teased, motioning toward her hand, filled with bags of food.

"Cough... no, I enjoyed ice skating." Zane tried to defend himself, but his guilty expression gave him away.

“Alright, I believe you,” Cyra nodded with a knowing smile, signaling that she didn’t believe his words one bit.

"Okay, let’s check into a hotel; it will be dawn soon." Zane changed the subject, looking up briefly at the gray sky.

Cyra tapped his nose with a chuckle, then turned on her hologram screen.

"I have already booked a room. We only need to take a cab back." She muttered as she booked a ride.

Zane hummed, finishing the skewered meat in his hand while he waited for the car.

The sky was much brighter by the time they arrived at the hotel.

Zane headed straight to the bathroom to wash up, feeling exhausted from the day’s excitement.

Cyra placed the food in her space to keep it warm, then joined Zane in the bathroom to wash up.

Seconds passed, and ambiguous sounds echoed softly from inside.

...

In an underground facility, people with varying degrees of skin decay stood motionless in a hall.

The air stank of decay and dried blood, and the hum of machines echoed in the background.

“The undead we have on hand number three thousand, with a loss of five thousand after that attack on the base,” a black-haired woman reported mechanically to the blue-haired woman, formerly known as the cracked-faced woman and now the head of the Dark Organization.

"Lost... five thousand men..." The blue-haired woman murmured weakly, her expression a mix of fury and disbelief.

If she hadn’t controlled the zombie to retreat, her force would have been wiped out so easily.

She punched the wall beside her, her gaze brimming with venomous hatred at the thought of Cyra.

The black-haired woman didn’t react to her action and calmly typed on her holographic screen.

“I want that woman dead. If weapons can work, then create a virus that will end her and everything she holds dear,” she commanded through gritted teeth, her fist clenched in suppressed rage.

She withdrew her hand from the dent in the wall and looked into the spacious hall, where she kept her undead.

“Master, should I release the newly developed virus we planned to use on the Supernatural Island on Desire Island instead?” the other woman asked, looking away from her screen.

Her words made the blue-haired woman pause, and an indescribable glint flashed in her eyes.

“Good... a nice idea. There is no antidote for that virus... hahahaha. Good! Do that immediately. I can’t wait to see her suffer as her organs decay,” her sinister laughter echoed through the quiet room.

The virus was engineered to target those with supernatural genetics. It had undergone extensive study and trial and error over ten years before becoming successful.

Since silver bullets didn’t work on that woman, this should do the trick perfectly.

“Quickly, instruct our people to infiltrate Desire Island with the infected. I want results, not failure,” she ordered before striding out of the room.

The other woman bowed and quickly relayed instructions to the dark organization’s higher-ups.

...

Viktor was sprawled against the sofa, his mood low as he scrolled listlessly through the Nexus.

He wondered when Cyra would return. It was morning, and there were no signs of them.

"Ugh... why didn’t she take me with her? No, I have to go on a date with her... or the playroom." A blush crept onto his cheeks at those last words.

His eyes filled with longing, wondering when they would use those tools on him.

The thought sent an electrifying shiver down his spine, and he buried his face in the chair, letting out an excited squeal.

He was tempted to see the room’s final renovation, but held back, feeling it would be more thrilling when she surprised him later.

As he began to daydream about how the whips would feel on his flesh, he heard the sound of footsteps heading his way.

He looked up and nearly let out a startled scream at the sight of Kyle.

"Goddamit! Why do you look like you escaped from a morgue?!" Viktor patted his chest, frightened by his pale face and bruised eye.

Kyle was too exhausted and hungry to deal with Viktor, and he was about to brush past him, but he paused at the sound of Viktor’s thumping heart.

His fangs throbbed painfully, and his gaze on Viktor’s artery grew more intense.

Viktor felt a predatory gaze on him, and his gaze sharpened as he looked at Kyle, becoming cautious.

"Don’t you dare," he warned as he straightened, stiffening slightly when he caught Kyle gulp.

"Kyle!" he yelled in warning, trying to bring him back to his senses before he did something stupid.

Kyle moved closer, dazed, his blue eyes turning blood-red.

"Shit," Viktor swore under his breath as his fingernails transformed into claws.
