Transmigration: I Made A Deal With A Man in Yellow
Chapter 58: The bridge [18]I stood still and watched the arrows come close to me. Just before they could hit me, a cocoon of darkness wrapped around me — the arrows hit the cocoon and were deflected while some just broke.
I stepped out of the cocoon and kept walking with the scythe still hanging on my shoulder.
The archers loaded more arrows and fired again at me, so I wrapped myself in a cocoon of darkness again.
Those arrows were never going to hit me.
Since the arrows couldn’t hit me, I saw all the undead skeletons at the front coming towards me — that included the 5 spearmen and the 5 swordsmen. They were going to go all out and try to overwhelm me while the archers were left behind.
I stepped out of the cocoon, lifted the scythe off my shoulder, pulled it back and threw it forward with powerful strength.
The scythe left a black streak as it spun like a boomerang towards the incoming undead skeletons.
The spearmen lifted their shields forward and prepared for the impact.
The scythe slammed against their shields, producing a loud metallic sound that echoed in the cave. Some spearmen were sent flying back like ragdolls by the impact while others remained in place.
My scythe came to a stop and clattered on the ground, so I let it crumble to darkness.
The skeletons continued their run and rushed towards me.
My hand rested on the hilt of my sword and I stepped back.
Only when the undead skeletons had almost reached me did I finally move.
Walls of darkness rose from the ground, blocking the skeletons. Not only from the ground but also from the sides and behind them, trapping them inside a box.
I closed the top as well so they wouldn’t jump out.
Earlier, minutes before the night had arrived, I had spread my mana at a specific place on the bridge. That way I would be able to summon any type of construct I wanted and catch the skeletons off guard by trapping them into a box and killing most of them.
And well, it worked perfectly.
At my command, the box started getting smaller and smaller, squeezing the skeletons all together — I struggled at first since they were attacking the walls in order to break out, but I strengthened the walls with mana. Then dozens of spikes released from inside the box and pierced the skeletons to death.
Erm, they were already dead, but you understood what I wanted to say.

The system confirmation of my kills rang in my head constantly, so much that I almost felt a headache.
However there was something wrong, the system only whispered nine kills and not ten, and only one Mid class undead skeleton was amongst them.
The box crumbled to nothingness, revealing a dune of white ash. And on the other side was a swordsman skeleton, holding onto a shield — it was the skeleton that had screamed earlier before ordering the undead wolves.
"It seems like it was able to sense that something was wrong and escaped just in time." I murmured.
The skeleton hit the side of his sword against the back of his shield and screamed.
I didn’t wait for it to come to me and dashed forward, leaving a black streak behind me. The skeleton also ran towards me, his sword slashing forward.
I drew my katana and our blades collided, creating sparks. I twisted my katana and slashed at the skeleton’s chest.
The skeleton raised its shield over its chest, just in time to block my attack. He blocked my attack and countered not with a sword attack but with a headbutt to my forehead.
I was stunned and took a couple of steps back. My head hurt like hell.
And yeah, maybe I needed a helmet.
’I told you.’ Ezio spoke in my head.
Luckily my skin was tough and I didn’t get hurt, so I didn’t get cursed.
The undead skeleton used that moment while I was stunned to slash at my neck.
But the skeleton was a fool because just because I was stunned, didn’t mean I had lost all my senses.
Thanks to [Darkness Sense], I dodged the skeleton’s sword by a hair’s length and stepped back.
I rubbed my forehead with my left hand. "Ow, that hurt, you bastard."
The skeleton never stopped and lunged at me again. I was soon out of the daze and parried the skeleton’s sword.
The skeleton twisted its torso with the momentum and performed a roundhouse kick similar to mine. With flexible agility, I ducked under the skeleton’s stretched leg and swept his other leg, causing it to fall.
But just before he fell, I curled my fingers into a fist and punched him right in the chest, aiming to break his core. However, just seconds before my armored fist broke his core, the skeleton managed to put his shield in front of my fist just in time.
My fist collided with the shield, which broke into wooden and metallic splinters, sending the skeleton flying back and rolling on the ground.
The skeleton stopped its movement by stabbing his sword into the ground.
"You’re quite the fighter. As expected of a Mid class monster." I stood up.
The undead skeleton just chattered its teeth and then looked behind, towards the archers, and screamed at them.
At his command the archers loaded up bone arrows and fired them.
"We were fighting well alone, why are you calling for help?" I clicked my tongue in disappointment.
I watched the arrows approaching and sheathed my sword, taking a stance.
The bridge trembled as mana gathered into my feet and katana.
With a burst, my figure blurred and dashed forward with explosive speed — the arrows pierced nothing but air. The skeleton swordsman had no time to react when I was already by his side and my katana had already sliced through its ribcage and cut through his core.
The skeleton was cut in half, sending its upper body high in the air.

I didn’t stop there — I kept moving towards the archers. Since it would take some moments to reload their arrows, that was a chance for me to close the distance between me and them.
My figure crossed the bridge in seconds and I was already upon the archers.
The moment I reached them, I spread my mana forward and then dozens of spikes released from the ground, impaled them and lifted them up in the air.
My katana flashed with black energy and cut down those who managed to dodge the spikes.

Just like that, the undead skeletons were no more.
"It’s time to leave this place." I sheathed my katana and entered the tunnel.
