The moon shone brightly through the gap in the ceiling of the cave, its light falling on the long bridge, while both ends of the bridge were dark, giving a mystical look — a shiny bridge between the darkness.

I stood on top of the bridge, clad in my dark obsidian armor — my katana strapped to the left side of my waist. My hair, tied into a ponytail, swayed to the side by a small breeze.

It would be tonight that I would be slaying the 28 undead skeletons and it would be tonight that I would leave this place.

Behind me, there was no fortress — I came to the conclusion that it was useless and mana-wasting since I was wearing armor that would be able to handle the undead skeletons’ attacks. Hence, I didn’t need to hide behind walls.

In addition to that, I had a plan.

Soon, the sound of bones rattling echoed from the cave where the skeletons had come from last night. The skeletons came into view and thankfully, they didn’t come with the other army.

Ten were archers that were in the rear, 5 were swordsmen that were in the middle, 5 were spearmen and the last eight at the front were undead wolves. Each one of them had a look of malice.

They looked like they were going to do bad things.

They marched until they stopped meters away from the bridge and stared at me.

"Erm, can’t y’all just let me kill you all so I don’t have to go through all the trouble? It sounds good, no?" I said, making gestures with my hand.

The skeletons just chattered their teeth in reaction, and well, it seemed that they weren’t willing to negotiate.

’You and trying to talk to monsters...’ Ezio’s judgmental voice sounded in my head.

"It didn’t hurt to try." I shrugged.

One of the skeletons that wielded a sword and a shield walked in front of the group. The skeleton raised its sword and slapped its shield with the side of the sword while making a hollow scream with its mouth.

What was that supposed to be? A war cry?

Yeah, most likely.

The skeleton then pointed his sword at me, and at that moment, the undead wolves ran towards me with speed, their bones clattering noisily.

They ran across the bridge and came from different directions, baring their sharp teeth.

Watching them approach, my hand lifted off the hilt of my katana and moved forward — a long black scythe formed in my hands with a sharp blade.

When the first undead wolf lunged, I gripped the shaft of the scythe with both hands and sliced it forward in a horizontal position — my scythe cut through its open mouth, through its jaw and cut its core in its throat in half.

The wolf was cut into two clean halves before turning to ash.

The second came from my left so I spun the shaft with my hands and then sliced its head clean off, sending it rolling in the air.

Two attacked me from both left and right.

I dodged the one that tried to bite my face off by stepping to the side while I punched the other in the face, cracking its skull on impact against the ground.

I sliced its neck off too before stepping to the side to dodge another lunge. I grabbed the wolf that had tried to lunge at me from behind by the neck and then slammed it down on the ground, shaking the bridge slightly.

I broke its neck, which broke the core.

Four of the undead wolves remained and they attacked me without rest.

I was able to dodge their attacks easily since they were predictable.

I slammed the blade of my scythe down, which pierced the skull of an undead wolf, pinning it to the ground. I then let go of the scythe, spun on my heel and performed a perfect roundhouse kick on an undead wolf that jumped at me.

What I didn’t count on was that I had kicked it so hard that the beast crossed the bridge and fell down the abyss.

"Ahhhh, my fragments!" I said with a pained voice.

Two undead wolves attacked me from both sides, which I dodged by ducking, and then I grabbed them both by the back of their necks and slammed their faces together, their bones cracking upon the clash.

I still didn’t let go of them and slammed them against the ground. Then I broke their necks.

Now, only two wolves remained — the one that had its head pinned by my scythe on the ground and the one that was rushing me at the moment.

It lunged at me with its sharp claws at my chest but its efforts were futile because when its claws hit my armor, not a single scratch was left on it.

I grabbed its neck and lifted it up with one hand. I closed my fingers around its neck, causing my sharp nails to pierce its neck and core.

The wolf turned to ash.

I walked to the wolf that was pinned on the ground and was trying to get the scythe off its skull by scraping its claws against it and failing miserably. I punched its throat, crushing its core to dust.

I pulled my scythe off the ground and hung it on my shoulder while looking at the 20 remaining undead skeletons on the other side of the bridge.

I was surprised that the archers hadn’t fired their arrows yet because if it was yesterday I would be bombarded by arrows.

And as if reading my thoughts, the archers aimed their bows up and fired their bone arrows that tore through the air with hissing sounds.
