Chapter 274: Chapter Two Hundred And Seventy Three

The hooded man standing near the door gasped softly. He immediately rushed forward. He knelt down on the floor next to Isabel and grabbed her arm, trying to help her up.

"My lady! Are you alright?" the hooded man asked quickly.

Isabel slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position. She held her burning cheek with her trembling hand.

She looked up at Camilla. Her blue eyes were wide with disbelief. She was shocked.

"You..." Isabel stammered weakly, her voice shaking violently. "You slapped me?"

She could not process what had just happened. She was a noble lady of the Ryde family. She had never been struck by anyone in her entire life.

Camilla slowly reached her hand into the hidden pocket of her dress and pulled out a white lace handkerchief.

She did not speak immediately. She began to wipe her hand slowly with the white cloth. She wiped her palm and her fingers carefully, acting exactly as if she had just touched something filthy and disgusting.

Isabel watched her wipe her hands. The deep insult burned worse than the slap.

Camilla finished wiping her hand. She looked at Isabel’s red face.

"Do I need a special holiday to do so?" Camilla asked softly. She casually tossed the

handkerchief into the air.

The small piece of cloth fluttered down slowly and landed directly on Isabel’s lap.

"Get out of here while I’m being nice," Camilla commanded coldly. Her voice carried a strict order. She was offering the foolish girl one last chance to run away with her life.

Isabel looked down at the discarded handkerchief resting on her dress.

The sheer humiliation of the situation finally broke Isabel’s mind completely. Her pride was shattered, and she wanted revenge at any cost.

Isabel pushed the hooded man away roughly.

She scrambled up from the floor. She stood up on her shaky legs. Her dress was covered in dust and dirt.

"Are you pitying me?!" Isabel screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing wildly in the large space. "Who are you to pity me?!"

She pointed a shaking finger at Camilla.

"I will make sure you don’t leave this place!" Isabel yelled furiously.

Isabel raised both of her hands high into the air.

Clap! Clap!

Isabel clapped her hands together twice very loudly.

Instantly, the quiet atmosphere of the abandoned warehouse changed entirely.

The heavy sounds of running boots echoed from the corners of the massive building.

From behind the piles of broken crates, from the shadows of the rotting support pillars, and from the empty rooms at the back, men began to pour out.

It was not just three thugs anymore.

A full dozen heavily armed guards stepped out into the open space. They wore dark armor and carried sharpened steel swords.

The twelve men quickly formed a tight circle, surrounding Camilla in the center of the warehouse. They drew their swords simultaneously.

The sound of steel being pulled from leather scabbards filled the air. They pointed their weapons at Camilla, waiting for Isabel’s final order to attack.

Isabel was panting heavily. She smiled. Her plan to station the guards the morning before the thugs went to abduct Camilla worked. She thought she had finally won. She thought there was absolutely no way Camilla could survive against twelve armed swordsmen.

Camilla stood still in the center of the circle.

She looked at the twelve men. She looked at their sharp steel swords. She looked at their serious faces.

Camilla thought to herself, her internal voice calm and observant.

"She actually brought a small private army just for me," Camilla thought in her mind.

Suddenly, Camilla threw her head back.

She laughed.

The sound of her happy laughter echoed clearly against the walls, destroying the tense, terrifying atmosphere.

"A whole army to kill me," Camilla said out loud, smiling widely at the guards. "That’s quite a lot of respect."

The twelve armed guards blinked in confusion. They looked at each other nervously. They expected the small woman to drop to her knees and beg for her life. They did not expect her to laugh at them. Her lack of fear made them feel very uneasy.

Camilla stopped laughing. Her face turned serious. She slowly turned her head and looked at the largest of the three thugs, who was standing nervously near a broken crate.

Camilla held her hand out toward him.

"Pass me your dagger," Camilla ordered smoothly.

The thug did not hesitate for a single second.

He quickly reached to his belt, pulled out his own dagger and tossed it towards the center of the circle until it reached her legs.

Camilla picked and gripped the dagger tightly. The weight felt perfect in her hand.

She raised her hand, gathered her hair that was falling over her shoulders. She pulled her hair back and tied it securely into a ponytail.

Camilla lowered her stance slightly, bending her knees to lower her center of gravity. She raised the dagger in front of her chest, holding the blade expertly. She glared at the twelve armed men surrounding her.

"Come at me," Camilla challenged them.

The guards tightened their grips on their steel swords. They prepared to charge forward and attack her all at once.

But before a single man could take a step forward, a sudden loud noise shattered the silence outside the warehouse.

Neighhhhh!

The loud, aggressive neighing of large horses echoed clearly in the air.

CRASH!

The sliding doors at the front of the warehouse were brutally smashed open.

Thick clouds of grey dust and wood splinters flew high into the air as the doors broke apart. The bright afternoon sunlight poured into the dim building, temporarily blinding everyone inside.

Through the thick cloud of flying dust, two figures charged into the warehouse.

It was Damon and Kade.

They had ridden their horses at maximum speed from the military camp just to get to the location in time.

Damon jumped down from his horse before the animal had even stopped moving. His leather boots hit the floor with a loud, powerful thud. Kade jumped down right beside him.

They both drew their steel broadswords instantly.

Everyone in the warehouse stopped what they were doing. The twelve armed guards stopped their attack. Isabel gasped loudly, her eyes widening in horror as she saw the General arrive.

Damon stood near the broken doorway. He saw the twelve men surrounding his wife with drawn swords. He saw the danger she was in.

A dark suffocating aura of death exploded from Damon’s body. The air in the warehouse instantly turned freezing cold.

Damon raised his steel sword. He pointed the sharp tip at the twelve armed guards.

He spoke. His deep voice vibrating against every single wall in the building.

"Anyone who dares touches her," Damon promised coldly, his eyes burning with fire. "Won’t be walking out of here alive."
