Transmigration: The Tyrant General Can Hear My Thoughts
Chapter 327 - Three Hundred And Twenty SixChapter 327: Chapter Three Hundred And Twenty Six
Prince Elio cleared his throat very loudly and intentionally.
Damon froze.
His hands stopped moving on Camilla’s gloves. He had been so entirely focused on his wife that he had completely forgotten they were not alone. He had forgotten he was standing in the middle of the royal gardens with the King’s children.
Damon slowly lifted his head. He looked over Camilla’s shoulder.
Prince Elio and Princess Isolde were standing side by side. They were both grinning. It was not a polite, formal smile. It was a teasing, knowing grin. Their eyes were sparkling with amusement.
Damon realized they had just watched him eagerly open his arms for a hug and carefully fix his wife’s clothing like a devoted, love-struck servant.
A sudden rush of intense heat flooded straight into Damon’s chest. The heat traveled rapidly up his neck.
In the blink of an eye, the tips of Damon’s ears turned a bright burning shade of red. He felt embarrassed by the public display of his own soft heart.
Damon took a tiny half-step backward, trying to put his strict, cold military mask back on, but his red ears betrayed him.
Prince Elio chuckled softly. He walked slowly toward Damon, shaking his head in deep amusement.
"Damon," Elio spoke out loud, his voice was teasing. "You will definitely have to teach me your secrets."
Damon frowned deeply, trying to look serious. "My secrets?"
"Yes," Elio nodded, grinning widely at Camilla. "You will have to teach me exactly how to make my future wife that happy. When I am married, of course. I have never seen you act so gentle."
Damon gritted his teeth. He glared at the Prince, refusing to answer the mocking joke.
But Princess Isolde was not finished causing trouble.
Isolde stood up from her cushioned chair. She smoothed down her dress and walked over to the group. She looked at Damon with a stubborn, challenging sparkle in her eyes.
"Damon," Isolde declared loudly, her voice clear and dead serious.
Damon looked at the princess. "How can I be of service, Your Highness?"
Isolde pointed her finger at Camilla.
"I want your wife," Isolde announced boldly.
The garden went dead silent for exactly one second.
Damon’s dark brown eyes widened to their maximum limit. His brain short-circuited.
"WHAT?" Damon shouted.
His voice was an explosive roar that echoed violently across the peaceful garden. It was not a polite question. It was a sound of panic and intense, burning possessiveness.
Damon moved with terrifying speed.
He reached out his hand and grabbed Camilla firmly by her arm. He pulled her forcefully backward, hiding her behind his back. He used his own body like a solid brick wall to block Isolde from even looking at her.
"No," Damon commanded strictly, glaring fiercely at the princess. "She is mine."
Camilla stood behind his back. She blinked rapidly, surprised by his sudden, explosive reaction. She peeked around his arm, looking at Isolde.
Isolde did not look scared of his shouting. She just crossed her arms and glared right back at him.
"I am not taking her away forever, you brute!" Isolde argued loudly, stomping her foot on the white stone. "I just want her to be my friend! I want her to come to the palace and drink tea with me! I am so incredibly bored here, and she is fun to talk to!"
"Absolutely not," Damon refused instantly, completely rejecting the idea. He kept his arm stretched out, blocking Camilla. "She does not have time to drink tea. She is very busy."
"Busy doing what?" Isolde challenged, stepping closer. "She is a noble lady! She has plenty of free time! You are just being incredibly greedy!"
"I am not greedy," Damon growled back, his jaw clenching tightly. "The palace is filled with vipers and gossiping fools. It is unsafe. I am not letting her stay here."
"I will protect her!" Isolde yelled back, waving her hands in the air. "I am a Princess!"
"You can’t even protect your own dresses from getting muddy!" Damon shot back, referencing their childhood games.
Camilla stood behind him, listening to the loud argument.
She let out a very soft amused sigh.
"This is ridiculous," Camilla thought to herself, a small smile touching her lips. "They are literally fighting over me like two small children arguing over a shiny new toy. Damon is acting like a grumpy dragon hoarding his gold."
Prince Elio stood nearby, covering his mouth with his hand, trying desperately not to laugh out loud at the bizarre, childish bickering between the General and the Princess.
Before Damon and Isolde could start shouting even louder, a new set of footsteps approached the gazebo.
The footsteps were very slow, calm, and steady.
Prince Ivan walked into the garden.
Ivan was the second prince, but unlike his playful elder brother Elio and his energetic younger sister Isolde, Ivan was serious. He had clearly recovered from the stress of the council meeting. He was the most grounded and practical of the three siblings.
Ivan walked up to the group. He ignored the loud bickering.
He stopped and offered a very deep, respectful bow to Damon and Camilla.
"General. My lady," Ivan greeted them formally, his voice smooth and polite.
Damon immediately stopped arguing. He stepped away from Isolde, straightened his military coat, and offered a stiff, formal bow in return.
Camilla stepped out from behind Damon’s back. She placed her hands neatly on her dress and dropped into a perfect curtsy.
"Your Highness," Damon and Camilla said together in unison.
Ivan nodded his head. He turned his eyes toward his older brother.
"Brother," Ivan spoke clearly. He delivered the royal message with efficiency. "Father requests to see us in his private study right now. He wishes to discuss the border patrol assignments."
Prince Elio immediately stopped laughing. His face turned serious.
"I understand," Elio replied firmly.
Elio turned to Damon and Camilla. He offered them a final, polite bow.
"Have a safe journey back to your estate, General, Lady Camilla," Elio said warmly.
"Farewell," Ivan added, bowing his head.
The two royal brothers turned around. They walked shoulder to shoulder down the stone path, their footsteps perfectly synchronized, leaving the garden to attend to the heavy matters of the kingdom.
Camilla watched them leave. She let out a long, heavy breath.
The adrenaline of the day was finally wearing off. Her silk dress felt heavy, and the tight corset was beginning to hurt her ribs. She just wanted to go back to the peaceful Benson mansion, take off her shoes and dress, hold Damon and sleep.
Camilla turned to look at Damon.
"I want to go home," Camilla said softly, her eyes looking tired. "I’m tired."
Damon looked at her pale face. He nodded his head slowly.
"We are leaving," Damon agreed smoothly.
Camilla turned to Princess Isolde. She smiled at her.
"It was very wonderful to meet you, Your Highness," Camilla said politely, dropping into one last, deep curtsy.
Isolde smiled back, though she looked a little disappointed that her new friend had to leave.
"It was lovely to meet you too, Camilla," Isolde replied happily. She glared playfully at Damon. "I will definitely write you letters. And he cannot stop me from sending them."
Damon simply rolled his eyes toward the sky, ignoring the princess’s threat.
He placed his hand gently against the small of Camilla’s back. He guided her smoothly away from the gazebo.
Together, Damon and Camilla walked down the stone paths of the royal gardens.
