Trapped in an Omegaverse Tragedy
Chapter 73: Let’s just get married, hyung.Doha didn’t know what to do.
He didn’t know how to react. It felt unreal. Like a possibility that couldn’t exist but actually did.
"What is troubling you, hyung?" He asked. "Tell me. After you’re done crying out your heart, tell me."
Songrik cried and wailed for what felt like eternity.
His body was trembling as he clung to Doha in desperation.
Doha picked him up and seated him on the couch in the main lobby near the kitchen.
And Songrik sat crouched, sticking to Doha like a coala.
They kept sitting there like that for several minutes even after Songrik had calmed down.
"I just wanted to be a little selfish," Songrik said, hiding his face and he crouched. "I really don’t think I have the heart to live with doing this."
Doha kept listening.
"Remember when we first faught? It was because I felt like I was pushing you too much to change yourself. I was afraid I’ll wear you down.
But yesterday, after hearing you not utter a single word of retort to my decision to abort, I felt sick with myself for believing you understood me and supported what I wanted.
But it was just me again, pushing you to things you didn’t want and changing how your decision about the baby could be.
But I don’t want that!!
I know this baby might interfere with our futures but I still want it.
I want to tell you that I can fill in for the gaps you’ll leave for this baby when life becomes too much. I know I can. That’s what people in love do for each other.
I want to assure you that it will be okay. We’ll be okay.
So can I please be a little bit more selfish this time?"
The silence after that was deafening.
Songrik had stopped talking and Doha hadn’t spoken a single word.
Then he stood up and crouched down on the floor in front of Songrik.
"I should postpone my military service two years back.
I can attend the first semester of my course, then I can take a year off or apply for distance learning.
I’m confident that I can also keep my grades at the top and apply for early graduation.
If we calculate it now, little baby will be born in March or April, I think it’ll be okay of I stand in for you at the office because that’s a busy season.
You can alot your stamp to Secretary Cha and I can fill in for the paper work and document verification.
I think we don’t get the time when I start college... "
Doha looked up at Songrik as he held his hand.
".... Let’s just get married, hyung."
"... "
"... "
"I sometimes think you’re the older one, Dohaya. How can you make it all sound so easy? I didn’t know it could be so easy!"
"Is that a yes?"
"Have I ever said no to you?"
"Yeah, in bed when I was going to go for the seventh time... "
Songrik blushed and put his hands on Doha’s mouth who burst out laughing.
Small streaks of tears were glistening from the corner of his eyes.
Yeah, a happy decision, it is.
They both probably thought.
But now there was another problem now.
What were they going to tell everyone?
They’ve been dating for how long approximately?
Two and a half months. And they were already pregnant and wanted to get married.
No matter how they looked at it, this was looking rushed and unthoughtfull.
"How about we just do it without telling anyone?" Songrik suggested after they brainstormed together for a few minutes for reveal ideas that seemed the least shocking.
"We’ll both get disowned, hyung🙂," Doha said.
"Then how about we just text them about it and then go on a trip abroad for a month and come back married?" Songrik suggested another brilliant escape plan.
"... "
"Is that not good?"
"No, no, that’s good, hyung, if we are criminals on the run, that is."
"Right... Then how about... "
"Let’s host a party on my birthday next week and tell everyone then."
"... "
"... "
"But then we’ll have to face them, no...? "
"That’s the point, hyung! We can just invite everyone to get it over with. And yes, this is the sort of news we should give while facing them. They’re the closest people to us afterall."
The two of them eventually agreed to it and with another accomplice, who knew about the pregnancy, Secretary Cha, they decided to host the party.
"Are you sure we’re not rushing things, Mr. Cha?" Doha asked while discussing the details of the party with Jihwan after Songrik went to bed.
He was sleeping a lot more now.
"I’ve recently heard an account where the two people got married under a week and that too, involuntarily. So I think my standards about a healthy relationship have been reformed," Jihwan said in a daze, like he was remembering distant bad memory. "I think what you’re doing is very healthy and good for each other."
Doha smiled at the reassurance and they went on with the planning.
*****
The rose fields were still covered in rain as the funeral home slowly dissipated into thin air.
Rikki inside stood there under the rain as his cover disappeared.
Slowly his clothes start subliming too.
And now, he stood there in the rain, surrounded by thorny roses, naked with his pale skin looking paler against the dark sky.
He look around him in the distance.
There was no one.
The faceless man was nowhere to be seen.
Is he cleaning the fucking bathroom again?
Rikki thought.
Rikki thought about walking but his feet were somehow glued to the ground. Not metaphorically, literally.
He could move an inch from his spot.
Suddenly a giant chunk of the sky cracked apart and fell in the horizon.
Rikki looked at it in awe.
"Is it finally time?" He mumbled with glistening eyed.
A sick twisted smile appeared on his face.
"It’s ending... The Love is ending."
