Days passed.

There was no news of Yeon Doha.

Little by little, his close ones were getting used to his absence.

Except for one person, Jang Songrik.

Because of the marking sickness, each breath he took reminded him of his beloved.

And each time he remembered him, his symptoms slowly deteriorated.

It was a vicious cycle.

Songrik had stopped talking altogether.

His family visited him regularly. Woojin braught games for him in the hospital just to get his mind off from Doha.

But Songrik was chronically prone to looking for Yeon Doha’s traces in everything.

EVERYTHING.

The doctors had advised him to avoid thinking about his missing alpha as that would only make things harder for him.

He was, in a way, terminally ill, after all.

But if forgetting him was that easy, there would never have been a single sad person in the entire world.

Yeon Soohi visited him almost daily.

Most of the time, she said nothing and sat there in silence.

Her presence though comforted Songrik a little as it served as proof that someone named Yeon Doha did exist and this whole ordeal wasn’t something he dreamed up.

But that also made the reality of it equally bitter.

The fact that noone knew what really happened to him and that his case was unprecedented was very hard to swallow.

They couldn’t just tell what had actually happened to law enforcement as people don’t just vanish into thin air.

Yeon Soohi had been searching the internet and all shady networks for cases related to her brother’s, but alas they are were either clear scams or shady cults.

"I read about a phenomenon called dimensional split," Soohi told Songrik as he blankly stared at her face. "It said said that there is a very low chance but when the atoms of two alternate universes align perfectly, a split is opened making it possible to travel through."

Soohi’s smile trembling a bit.

"Maybe... oppa really is alive out there somewhere," she said, looking down as it was hard to meet Songrik’s eyes. "Maybe...he’s also desperately trying to get back to us."

He is.... right?

Soohi looked up.

Songrik was still staring at her face blankly. His eyes were very dull.

He raised his hand weakly and touched her eyes.

"You look like him when you smile," he said before his hand lost strength and fell awkwardly lower.

He regained his control and pulled it back, placing it on his stomach.

"Maybe this child will look like him too..."

Yeon Soohi ran out crying.

It was hard. Exhaustingly hard.

To watch the person she had always seen so full of life, wither away like that.

He was constantly looking for her brother’s traces in everything, just like her.

But it was heartbreaking how he was forgetting to live because of that.

She collapsed in front of his room door in the hospital hallway.

Sobbing and crying, she felt herself breaking.

"It’s hard, oppa," she told Doha. "It’s too hard to do it alone. How did you ever handle it all?"

But those words couldn’t reach Yeon Doha.

Nothing could reach Yeon Doha.

As he laid in deep slumber on the white tiles of the oddly placed bathroom in the rosefields.

His golden locks were fluttering on his face as wind blew in the rosefields.

That was weird.

Wind never blew over the rose fields.

It was either brilliantly sunny or raining like the world’s end.

Wind was an awkward and strange sight.

Rikki felt it too and he walked around, still butt naked in the rose fields.

Strangely enough, the annoying and disturbing presence of the faceless man that he always felt lurking in the horizon was gone.

That meant a lot of things.

It meant that he was one step closer to escaping from this hell of a place.

And it meant that Yoon Beom’s revenge on his soul had finally started.

"How funny," Rikki snickered as he kept walking. "I’m happy that my soul is being ripped into pieces."

It would appear strange to anyone that Rikki was happy to be destroyed.

But that’s what he always wanted.

To be dead and remain dead.

The world was too monotonous and dull in his eyes.

Life wasn’t worth living. Nothing excited him.

Jang Songrik of the original world, Rikki, who was now trapped in Yoon Beom’s manifested rose fields, was born without emotions as a natural psychopath.

And his life’s purpose was to die, somehow.

But as fate would have it, he couldn’t succeed in a single try.

How ironic.

And when he finally succeeded in gett himself killed, he had his soul trapped and held hostage by the shamanic bastard who killed him.

Maybe him meeting Yoon Beom was the biggest mistake.

Or maybe he should’ve left him alone after he had purposefully abandoned him in high school.

He never should’ve gott involved with him after that.

He should’ve never met Yoon Beom again.

But he did, and here he was.

Trapped in this fucking tragedy of a world.

Everywhere the scenery was the same. Same repeating tasks each second.

Not single thing was interesting enough in this dreadful place.

And no matter what he tried, he couldn’t die here.

It was indeed a fate worse than death.

This place was driving him insane.

So what mattered most to him was Yoon Beom’s revenge.

As soon as he was done fucking with his soul, he could be free from this hell.

"When will it be over?"

Rikki asked as if talking to the roses around him.

No answer came as roses don’t talk.

"Ha... I’m going fucking mad."

And his walk without a destination continued.

That was the only thing he could do to keep himself busy.

*****

The entire deal with Yeon Doha disappearing had a lot impact upon the people around him, but it particularly affected one person who had caused it all to happen.

And only he knew it.

Oh Ryujin had locked himself in his room after they returned from visiting Jang Songrik in the hospital.

Cha Jihwan was obviously with Songrik and the Jang family, handling everything.

Ryujin couldn’t get the hang of the situation as he was drunk at the time but when he sobered up, the reality of it dawned upon him.

And he was bitterly guilty.

Of making Yeon Doha return.

That’s what Ryujin had concluded in the several days he had spent locked in his room, wracking his brain about why and what happened to Yeon Doha.

That also made it clear that Yeon Doha was none other than his twin brother in the real world, Yoon Beom.

Once Ryujin arrived at the fact, Yeon Doha’s odd behaviour, his relationship with Jang Songrik and his unnaturally familiar habits, it all started making sense.

But that conclusion came with a massive load of guilt.

Oh Ryujin was more aware than anyone that Yoon Sarang of the real world was dead.

And that the novel she wrote to cope with her breakup, the names of the characters were all suggested by Yoon Beom.

"It was never me," Ryujin finally had connected all the dots. "I never did anything but just write. It was all Yoon Beom."

Sarang remembered Yoon Beom telling her name the main character as ’Jang Songrik’. Even going as far as giving physical descriptions.

"Jang Songrik must suffer."

They were his exact words as he helped Sarang write that story.

"It’s idiotic."

He would chuckle with grin as he read those pages with dark eyes.

The fact that he was the one behind the world of "The Forgotten Flower" coming alive was both unsettling and terrifying.

Because Yoon Sarang knew, how much Yoon Beom hated Jang Songrik.

She could feel his hatred for the character through the sheer amount of contempt he held in his suggestions for the story.

"Was it a real person?"

Ryujin wondered.

"Who could it be?"

Someone Yoon Beom would hate to his guts...

Someone her angel of a brother would absolutely despise.

A boy appeared in her vision.

The boy Beom liked in high school.

The boy who... came back and shot her to death.

Her murderer.

Oh Ryujin stood up as it all made absolute sense.

He finally emerged out if his room after 12 days and immediately made his way to the hospital.

He drove his car in a hurry and almost crashed afew times.

Running on his highest speed to Songrik’s room.

I need to tell him asap!! I need to inform Jang Songrik of this world about Yoon Beom.

Ryujin was out of breath, as he reached Songrik’s room.

But as he walked closer into the crowd of hospital staff and Songrik’s family that was surrounding the door, a dreadful feeling creeped up to him.

He looked at Songrik’s father in a questioning way.

"Ah, Ryu," he said weakly. "You came..."

But he couldn’t hold back and broke into tears as he hugged Ryujin.

"Our baby... he..."

Ryujin looked at the bed inside the room.

Jang Songrik was asleep and was put on a ventilator.

"He went into shock this morning and hasn’t woken up since. The doctor.... He said that he might never do...."

The silence was deafening after that.

All of them, stood there, motionless.
