Triple X System

Chapter 370: RootCrystal Deer

Back in Lumia Kingdom..

In a decent structured lab reinforced with steel plates, coated with the green liquid stood none other than the king. Just 2 meters besides the brilliant scientist.

"What’s your take on the current mission stats?" Troy calmly asked.

His arms crossed together with a warm yet stern look in his eyes, while he blankly stared at the screen.

Adjusting her glasses a bit, Reze expression remained neutral. "From a technical view the mission status could be considered a success. The luminara plant was obtained, and proved effective against deadly wounds and illness."

Tilting his head in her direction, troy’s shoulders slightly stiffened. "But?"

"But." She continued. "The success rate estimate was proven to be medium with some casualties. Which stirs the question why there wasn’t any."

Reze expressed her opinion on the recent group of generals outing.

During the briefing the goal was Crystal clear. Get the specific items listed out within a limited time duration of 3 days and get out. Short and plain, but not by any means simple in the slightest.

Kraken wasn’t just a planet filled with foreign energy that mutates or kills humans during an estimated time length. But a rather complex structure with far deeper secrets.

And with no information on the planets occupied inhabitants and rotary cycle, it was a dangerous gamble of chess.

"Judging from the look in your eyes it’s clear something’s bothering you." Reze blurted out, grabbing the cold king attention.

"Really?" Troy let out a fake smile that barely extended an inch.

"Yes. The air is literally being sucked from our lungs." She rolled her eyes in annoyance, earning a dry chuckle from the king.

"You’re right."

"About what? Stating the obvious you’re trying to suffocate us? Duh.." Reze clicked her tongue.

Shaking his head, Troy approached the screen. Pressing a button that stopped the video replaying.

"Look here and tell me what you see."

Confused, Reze didn’t question the ruthless king. Giving a small nudge she fixated her attention specifically on the spot Troy pointed to.

"Asides from the fact the peasant was rammed in by an insectoid creature, I don’t see any severe casualties." Reze honestly replied.

"Likewise. Which makes this even more alarming." Troy grumbled, his brows slightly curving into a light frown.

Pressing the same button, the feed replayed again. Kyle handling some group of insectoids when another came rushing at him full speed from the side.

"Still nothing." Reze shook her head, failing to grasp troy’s logic.

Replaying it again, gold lightning crackled from his fingertip running along the feed. Surging the electricity just enough to create a visual black and white fade.

"There, right before it slams into him." Troy gestured and that’s when Reze could see it.

"They switched."

There was no doubt about it.

The Aegis-V suits she designed not only provided shelter from kraken hell trap environment, but also efficiency and heat signature markings. Which meant each one of the humans that were sent already had their aura’s registered in the kingdom’s system.

But during the collision, there was an interference with the readings from Kyle. Heading on to alter completely like the flick of a switch, into an entirely new red aura.

"If what we just witnessed is true then that must mean-"

"The peasant is still on kraken and the rumors are true." Troy butted in, the gold sparks on his hands getting intense.

"Should I announce a strike team to take out the intruder?" Reze hurriedly asked, already connected to the kingdom server.

"No." Troy shook his head. "Setting out an alarm now would only cause panic in the kingdom. There will surely be talks about other shape shifting creatures with the ability to teleport."

Listening to him, she wanted to insist but didn’t. "What’s your order your highness?"

Not responding immediately, his face broadened with a light smile. Further sending Reze in a state of disarray.

"We do nothing."

"Y-your Majesty?"

"Keep an eye on the intruder’s movement. We’re still uncertain for sure what mythical class it belongs to and it’s potential abilities or motives. Maintaining a blind eye is the best approach to curb the weed." He declared with a fierce tone heading out the door.

"Of course ~"

Shifting her attention back to the screen, she had a puzzled look written on her face. "How could’ve missed this!?"

The question looked at the back of her mind.

As the lead scientist of the kingdom, she basically was in charge of 90% of the kingdom defense and attack strategy. Meaning she served as a key role in Lumia kingdom progress.

.....

"Hey, I heard they recently deployed an scout team to a nearby planet." A tall man muttered dressed in casual clothes.

"Nearby planet? Where did you hear that nonsense from?" The average man with a brown moustache frowned, tightly gripping the handle of the 7 foot long spear glowing blue at the tip.

"What? The whole citizens are talking about it!" He buttressed with an exclamation, confused with his comrade expression.

"Even the peasants whisper amongst themselves. There’s a rumor of a magic planet with divine healing like powers capable of incredible feats." Plaize hushly replied, checking if anyone else headed this direction.

Thinking for some seconds, Diaz shook his head still left out about such information.

"You’re hopeless man. Seriously, you need to lay off the sweets. They can cause damage to your brain that’ll lead to memory loss." Plaize warned which the two laughed off, continuing in their part.

Thud Thud!

The light stomps of heels could be heard from afar, and they didn’t need to put two and two together. Because the individual was already in view with hasty steps, about four sleek drones shaped in a V design . Hovering steadily besides her.

"General Koyuki." Both guards immediately bowed without delay.

"Have you seen the peasant anywhere? I’m in search of him." She dryly spoke with a poker face.

"I-i’m not certain which specific peasant you refer to, but maybe if you give out a little more detail I’ll-"

"He’s a demon." She bluntly uttered, causing a cold chill to run down both guards spine.

There were countless peasants of different races acquired throughout the establishment of Lumia kingdom, from the reign of the first king. King Arthur, the legendary first triple ability users and wielder of the king tier sword Excalibur.

But none of the races of peasants ever came from the dreaded demonic race except one.

"I-i’m sorry general, but his whereabouts are unknown." Diaz stuttered, maintaining his low bow scared to stand straight.

"True miss Koyuki, there’s no sign of it." Plaize added, also visibly trembling.

’Cowards.’ Was the only word on Koyuki’s mind, disgusted at nothing more than kids in adults uniform.

"Oh really? Then why do I get the feeling you’re holding something back? Hmmm.. Something important?"

’We’re in so much trouble.’ The duo unanimously thought, feeling overwhelming pressure from Koyuki’s aura.

"I-i promise we don’t know his whereabouts. We were stationed at the East gate since 2 days, just ordered to the West for more reinforcements against an approaching beast horde."

Listening to them Koyuki paused, reading their faces she determined they spoke the truth. "Very well, get going."

Nodding the two hurriedly scrambled on their feet, with their tails between their legs.

’Where is he?’ Koyuki frowned biting her lips a bit frustrated.

She’d been separated from Kyle since the return from kraken, but something definitely felt off about the latter while on the spaceship.

"With the list of wrong choices you’ve made, I see you’ve finally made the biggest by falling in love with a demon." A sweet voice chuckled, with a wicked laugh that carried a roguish tone.

"Tsk~ coming from a voice carried by the wind." Koyuki shot back, the playful laugh immediately went silent.

"Don’t bite off more than you can chew Koyuki. Your demon is in the arena." With that only silence prevailed?

"Freak."

Shrugging the encounter to the side, Koyuki continued on her steps. With a location in mind she clearly headed towards the mentioned spot.

It wasn’t a long walk, considering she didn’t walk but used her displacement technique. Arriving in no time at the newly reconstructed Grand arena, popular for one thing. The Hunger Games Tournament.

"He’s here." It took less than a minute before she eventually found Kyle’s location.

Seated on a small firmly crafted wooden podium at the center of the ground floor, was none other than Kyle. His legs crossed in a meditation pose, eyes closed and concentrated.

"I wasn’t aware demons meditated. Isn’t it harmful to your kind." Koyuki broke the eyes, the coldness and distinction clear as day in her tone.

"Not really haha.. meditation is just right to straighten the bones after a rough day." Kyle smiled, his eyes slowly fluttering open.

’What the hell is wrong with him?’ She wasn’t certain at first, but now she confirmed her suspicions.

Not only was this peasant personality different, but up close. She could vividly notice the red hue seeping out his unnatural primal dark aura from time to time.

Just as she was about confronting him, Reze voice broke out through the small neuralink patched into her ear.

"Don’t force it, act normal and walk away. Some things are better left off than question." The cocky scientist voice was brief and short, further adding to the mystery surrounding Kyle?

"Very well, I have other matter to attend to." Koyuki finished turning around to leave.

"Stay safe general." Kyle shouted back.

"I don’t do safe." She frowned, a vein bulging at the side of her forehead. "If you’ll ever need to get your ass handed down to you, I’ll be in the simulator."

With that she left with Kyle’s ’i’ll take that as a challenge’, lingering in the air.

......

Meanwhile...

On a red planet, which literally pulsed within a time interval of five seconds. A figure could be seen dashing in hot pursuit of a beast sprinting on four legs.

[You’re letting it get away.] Snow grumbled like a little child.

"I’d like to see you try." Kyle retorded, his attention solely focused on brown deer like beast in front.

[Quest received!]
