Chapter 268: Someone’s Looking for Trouble

Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Someone’s Looking for Trouble

Wang Chenning had said they would go out for a late-night snack around ten o’clock.

There was a one-hour time difference between Seoul and Yandu, and everyone was still on Yandu time, so ten o’clock felt like nine.

Going out for a late-night snack at ten meant they could stay out for a long time.

When it was almost ten, Wang Chenning woke up Zhao Xiao’an and asked if she wanted to go for a late-night snack.

"My stomach’s growling after what you put me through. Of course I’m going!" Zhao Xiao’an mumbled, blearily opening her eyes. Then, she realized her back was so sore she couldn’t get up. She cursed Wang Chenning for not knowing how to cherish the fairer sex and demanded he help her recover her strength at once.

Wang Chenning gave her a massage, then used acupuncture to stimulate a few acupoints. Just like that, Zhao Xiao’an was back to full health.

However, her back was still a little sore, and her gait wasn’t as natural as usual.

After getting up, without even bothering to put on clothes, she rushed at Wang Chenning, flailing with fists and feet.

"You’re bullying me on purpose, aren’t you?" She even tried to bite him.

"Tch, I haven’t even punished you yet, and you’re already trying to punish me?" Wang Chenning grabbed her hands and gave her a playful bite. As Zhao Xiao’an yelped and curled up, he chuckled mischievously. "Just now, you were telling me to go find Yang Xiaofu and my other female disciples. So, can I go find them now?"

"Go on, then! Go if you have the guts!" Flustered and annoyed, Zhao Xiao’an tried to bite him again.

But a single threatening line from Wang Chenning made her freeze.

"Do you want me to ’bully’ you again?"

"You pervert!" Zhao Xiao’an kicked him before grabbing her clothes and storming into the bathroom with a huff.

"I’m heading down first. We’ll meet in the lobby in a bit!" Wang Chenning called through the bathroom door before heading out.

Yang Xiaofu was already waiting in the lobby. She had taken the time to dress up carefully before coming down.

Wu Jingyi, Zhang Manxin, and Lin Qingyan were there too. The three women had wanted to find Wang Chenning after dinner to discuss their thoughts on the day’s events. They also wanted to ask if his new disciple, Pu Zhiyun, would receive the same treatment as the others, and to chat about the schedule for tomorrow. However, they couldn’t find him all evening, and he wasn’t replying to their messages.

Seeing Wang Chenning appear before them, glowing and full of energy, the three women rolled their eyes in unison to show their displeasure.

"Today’s events caused quite a stir, and the online reaction has been intense. There’s some damage control to be done!" Afraid they would ask awkward questions, Wang Chenning preemptively gave them a high-sounding excuse. He then instructed Wu Jingyi, "Prepare a statement on the incident for me. Just don’t make me sound too arrogant; otherwise, stick to the facts!"

"I know!" Wu Jingyi agreed, pouting her cute little lips, before rolling her eyes again.

She had performed so brilliantly during yesterday’s competition, but she was disappointed that Wang Chenning hadn’t shown her any special favor. She felt quite wronged.

Wang Chenning noticed her disappointment and quickly comforted her. "Jingyi, you did a great job yesterday. I had no idea your tea ceremony skills were so exquisite. When we get back, I’d like to learn about the tea ceremony from you. I’ll provide the tea and the venue. We can even have someone film you performing it and submit the videos as content to promote our traditional culture. We’ll have them publicize it properly."

Hearing this, Wu Jingyi’s unhappiness vanished without a trace, replaced by a sweet smile.

After a short wait, the others who wanted to get a late-night snack started trickling down.

A few minutes later, Zhao Xiao’an came down as well.

Her colleagues didn’t come. When Wang Chenning asked, she just said they still had to edit their footage and that she would just bring them back some takeout later.

Zhao Xiao’an had dressed up carefully, making sure anything that shouldn’t be seen was well-hidden. Her long hair was draped over the sides of her face.

After being doted on by Wang Chenning, her complexion was absolutely radiant. Afraid that people might notice something was different, she let her hair down to frame her face.

After all, Yang Xiaofu and the other women had no experience in this area. Combined with the dim evening light, they didn’t notice Zhao Xiao’an’s captivating glow.

Once about twenty people had gathered in the lobby, Wang Chenning suggested they head out, saying anyone else who came could just find their own way there.

No one had any objections.

The spot Yang Xiaofu had chosen for their late-night snack was a Korean barbecue restaurant about a kilometer from their hotel. It had a large storefront and was bustling with customers.

Seeing such a large group arrive, the owner enthusiastically welcomed them inside.

With so many people, their only option was to take up space in the main hall on the first floor. Wang Chenning, in fluent Korean, asked the owner to arrange four tables for them. He then ordered a pile of food, making sure to include fried chicken and beer.

As they sat down, both Yang Xiaofu and Zhao Xiao’an reminded everyone not to discuss sensitive topics in front of the South Koreans, so as not to provoke them.

Yang Xiaofu even added a special warning, "If they decide to put something in our food, we’ll be in for a world of hurt!"

Everyone was obedient, and no one brought up the topic.

But it was impossible for such a large group not to talk, and they could only communicate in Mandarin. Thus, there was no hiding the fact that they were a group of Huaxia people.

Fortunately, the barbecue restaurant’s owner didn’t change his attitude because they were from Huaxia. So many customers meant a significant income, and business like that had to be treated well.

A short while later, a few more people arrived, bringing the total to around thirty people crammed into four tables.

Yang Xiaofu proposed that everyone toast "Brother Ning."

Her proposal received unanimous support. Everyone filled their glasses and toasted Wang Chenning together.

Wang Chenning didn’t refuse. He readily drank a glass of beer with everyone and then told them all to eat and drink as they pleased, and to pack up any leftovers.

There were other customers in the restaurant, presumably all South Koreans. They kept to themselves, merely watching the excited group of Huaxia people with curiosity.

Yang Xiaofu reminded everyone again in the group chat not to talk about Wang Chenning’s medical competition against the South Koreans, or to mention the exchange delegation.

Aside from those topics, they could talk about anything else freely.

However, those were the topics everyone was most interested in. Deliberately avoiding them made everyone feel like something was missing.

A few South Koreans at a neighboring table watched the group of Huaxia people with great interest, and two of them even took out their phones to snap a few pictures.

Wang Chenning was sitting with Yang Xiaofu, Zhao Xiao’an, and Wu Jingyi. Aside from him, everyone else at the table was a beautiful woman.

Wang Chenning himself was handsome, and with such a table of beautiful companions, he naturally became the focus of attention for the owner and other customers.

But they paid no mind to the actions of the South Koreans nearby, nor did they try to eavesdrop on their whispers.

But what they didn’t expect was that just as the thirty-odd people were drinking to their hearts’ content, laughing and chatting merrily, a group of South Koreans with headbands tied around their foreheads stormed in aggressively.
